This company misrepresents the features provided through their Premium account. They solicit consumers to gain access to an extensive database of market research and information. When the Premium account is purchased, the consumer finds that they only have access to one page bar charts and no access to other data. The company then tries to up-charge the consumer into a Corporate account which costs over $7K annually.
I got ripped off by Statista - Statista did not provide me with statistical information I
was looking for and is playing games doing their best not to refund my money. They are an online company that accepts email and online payments so I immediately asked for a refund - got phone calls suggesting how I could better use their data which was non existent - then got an email telling me I did not ask in writing within 20 days for a refund which is a pile of bunk because online companies respond on line and I sent in my request for a refund immediately which fulfills the request in writing.

Review: I purchased the premium account from statistic com for $588.00. Statistic com is a statistical database. After I was granted access to use their database platform I could not find the information I was looking for and decided to cancel my account the next day and get a refund. The information that I have accessed through their database is publicly available in the USA for free, but the customer service replied they pay money to other statistic providers and my money is not refundable. I offered them to charge me a monthly fee of $49.00 and refund me $539.00 to settle the issue, but they did not agree. I think it was a fair offer coming from me since I made a mistake by signing up with their services and only used their database for one day (or 1.5 hours).Desired Settlement: Full $588.00 refund or $539.00 refund.

Response:
We apologize for the delayed response to your request (ID:
[redacted]); our headquarters are in Hamburg, Germany and it therefore took extra
time to have this mail forwarded to our German offices for further review.
We have communicated extensively with [redacted]
regarding the purchase of his account and we will provide the same information
that was provided to him. First we would like to note that [redacted] used
this account to view over 100 different statistics and downloaded 20 different
items. These were all viewed and downloaded in a short time frame, but this
does not diminish the number of statistics that he accessed and downloaded.
Furthermore, our database has both private and public sources and if [redacted]
was able to find all of this information online for free, then we
are unsure of why he decided to purchase the account in the first place.
We do have a free account that allows users to get a better
idea of the information we have available (access to all free statistics) and
this should allow them to make a decision of whether they would like to
purchase the Premium Account. When purchasing the Premium Account it clearly
states throughout the purchasing process that this is an account for 12 months
and has a total purchase price of $588. We charge the full subscription amount
up front because we pay our data providers at the same time for this access;
this fee is not dependent on whether or not the customer views specific
information, but rather that they have access to it. Therefore, once an account
has been used to view and download any Premium statistics or paid-for
information, we are unable to offer refunds or cancel the account. Furthermore,
it is very difficult and hard to prove whether a customer has found information
to be useful for their personal research projects. It could be easily taken
advantage of by those that only wish to see or have a single statistic and then
cancel and not pay for the subscription.
In conclusion, based on the number of views and downloads
that [redacted] had, there was a decision made not to refund or reduce the
subscription time. We believe this decision remains fair to all of the other
customers that have purchased the Premium Account. We would be happy to answer
any further questions that may arise to this complaint.
Best regards,
Corporate Relations Manager

Response:
To Whom it May Concern (regarding case [redacted]):
The data that [redacted] has now requested is for an entirely different account (he purchased a Premium Account and the requested material is for the Corporate Account); therefore, we will not be granting access to any additional information. As stated in our last email, we have provided all the information and facts that we can in regards to [redacted]’s request and will not be offering a refund. We consider this case closed. Thank you for the time and effort spent reviewing this case.
Best regards,
Consumer
Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
Statista did not provide me with statistical information I
was looking for and does not want to refund my money.
