State Employees Credit Union staff has made very reasonable efforts to assist Ms*** in her unfortunate circumstancesMs*** did miss a couple of payments, one in May and the other in October paymentOn June 14, attempts to contact Ms*** by phone were unsuccessful due
to invalid contact numbersLetters were sent to Ms*** during this time requesting her to please contact State Employees Credit Union with no responseIn addition, several computer generated delinquent notices were sent to the member beginning at days delinquent, a 2nd notice at days delinquent and 3rd notice at days delinquent. Contact was made with Ms*** on December 14, 2016. On January 26, an extension for the January 19th payment was offered to Ms*** provided she pay the loan current through December 19th The extension was granted and sent to Ms*** to sign with all term and conditions including the next due date of February 19, Ms*** signed and returned the form agreeing to the extension terms. When February’s payment was not made in accordance with the extension agreement, Ms*** was contacted on 3/16/in which Ms*** stated she had not paid the 2/19/payment due to SECU’s online system reflecting a zero amount due when she was going to pay it on February 23, Due an error with SECU’s our online payment system and Ms*** having spent the money, another day extension for February’s payment was offered and grantedOn April 7, 2017, Ms*** called advising that she had been in an auto accident on April 4, 2017, in which her car was deemed a total loss. Ms*** did have GAP insurance however as Ms*** was advised, GAP insurance does not cover any extended and/or past due paymentsMs*** acknowledged the GAP coverage and stated she understood. Ms*** explained that she would be paying off the remaining balance that was not covered by the Gap insurance when she received her reimbursement for the deductibles
A strong effort was made to collect on this account as it has been over days delinquent for the majority of the term since opening on December 2014, as well as co-borrowers refusal to payAs per the members request for cease and desist department, member was told that State Employees Credit
Union did not have a cease and desist department but was told that she could provide the request in writingA copy of the power of attorney was asked for by the Collections Manager to properly direct any future calls that may have to be made, but the power of attorney documentation was not provided. We will still accept this by email or fax if member is willing to provide it to us. State Employees Credit Union recommends that the member remain current to avoid any future contact in an attempt to collect on any past due payments owed by the members
We are not sure exactly what insurance coverage Mr*** is referring toThe documentation he has provided in his complaint refers to a mortgage loan and an auto loanThe auto loan documentation refers to Credit life insurance, the other agreement to provide comprehensive and collision coverage
on his vehicleThe mortgage document is his Truth in Lending DisclosureIn the past Mr*** has asked why he did not have life insurance on his mortgage loan and he was told that the credit union is unable to offer credit life insurance on mortgage loans through our current insurance providerIf this is the case, State Employees Credit Union is still not able to offer Credit Life Insurance on Mortgage loans
