Review: In 2010 I placed a first time ad with start renting, I wanted to try it out. I expected to pay $60 for two times, instead they ran it 7 times billing me for $210. I refused to pay it till they properly billed me. they ever did. If I would ahve paid what I owed they would ahve still billed me for the rest. They then placed it in collection last year impacting my credit score, updated the bill every month to make it look fresh. I was forced to pay the higher amount in order to get it off my score and then they refused to send me a receipt.Desired Settlement: They should refund me the difference between $60 and the $210 plus the $400 I had to pay to get soemone to ajudicate this.

Start

Renting, Inc. is a bi-weekly print publication and a website for

Landlords to advertise rentals. [redacted] contacted us to place

advertising in the summer of 2009. The advertising rates and

cancellation policy were explained to [redacted]. The bi-weekly rate was

$90.00 per listing not $30.00 per time as his complaint references. Our

rates were published on our website and various marketing materials.

[redacted] did not cancel the advertising and the listing ran 7 times

incurring charges of $630.00.

[redacted] called and spoke to our staff and indicated he only wanted the

advertising to run 2 times even though he failed to cancel it. We agreed

to credit of $450.00 to maintain good will with the customer. After the

credit a balance remained of $180.00 which was due per the agreement.

The

balance was not paid even after repeated attempts to collect the

balance from [redacted]. A statement was mailed monthly, and collection

letters and calls were made yet still no payment was made. As we were

unable to collect the balance due the account was turned over to a

collection agency. At this point interest had accrued and the balance

due was $263.76.

In

June 2013, we were contacted that he wished to settle the bill. We

agreed to remove $43.67 of interest that had accrued and considered the

account paid in full for $220.00. [redacted] made the payment and the

collection agency was immediately notified the debt had been satisfied. I

directed [redacted] to the contact the collection agency for the

confirmation he desired.

In

summary [redacted] requested advertising, failed to cancel it timely,

was given a substantial credit, and then failed to pay the invoice for 4

years. We were more than fair and accommodating in attempting to

resolve this with [redacted].
