filled out and signed the guest registration form indicating they wanted to stay a week (7 days). She also indicated they had dogs. They were quoted a rate of $225 for the full week which included the fee for their pets. In the late evening of the 19th of February 2015. The complaintants spouse got in touch with me and indicated there were bugs in the room. I offered them the choice of leaving or moving to another room, but they were undecided. In the meantime, they informed me that they also had found bedbugs, as they were both sitting on the beds. If there were in fact bugs in the room I also didn't want them spread to another room. So I suggested they leave and I'd give them parcial compensation. When guests come in for a weekly rate and leave "before" the 7 days is up, the rate then reverts back to the daily rate. Which for a room like they were in is $50 per day plus $10 per day for pets. He wasn't happy with that at all. He wanted the entire amount refunded. I then said I'd cut the rate from $50 to $40 per night and $10 for his pets. Times 2 nights which came to $100, (he wasn't even charged for the 3rd night). Now the complaintants spouse paid initially with a credit card, and I gave them back $100 "cash". He wasn't happy about that either but he took the cash and left. (My daughter later informed me that when a guest pays with a credit card, refunds and/or credits should "always" be done through the credit card.) After they left the premises I went up to the room to inspect it myself and I found no indication that there were bugs. I had plans the next morning to phone the local [redacted] dept. to see if they could send out an inspector since they are better skilled at looking for infestatiuons of any kind. Before I had a chance to call them an inspector came as a result of a phone call from the complaintant. He was escorted to the room and he did an extensive inspection and informed me that he didn't see any signs bugs had EVER been in that room, ie: blood on the mattress, droppings ect. He told me he was going to close the case. His name is Shenandoah Rhodes and he can be reached at the [redacted], phone number ###-###-####. Sincerely,[redacted].
