We had bought a 2017 Pleasureway Lexor from this dealership and had interfaced with Christie, Manager and Karl, Operations Manager(not sure of title) and had a decent experience until post purchase when we needed a part from the manufacturer and the informed me we had bought a former rental unit from canadream and that the powertrain warrenty was canceled as it had been expected to the US.
I brought this to Christie and Karl and was told by Christie all kinda of used car lot salesmanship that this unit was amazing as it was when we bought it...but for being a 2017, it had 42k likes which is high for an RV, but was justified as the interior and the low gen hours, new looking awning made sense to the story they told us...85 was probably an older couple that used it to drive more than sleep in it.
The short is that the unit was a rental in the Canadian Rockies by a large RV rental company that maintained their campers well, but the transmission and motor have been driven a lot harder than a personal owner would treat it.
We own a rental business ourselves and know the pressure, ware and tare and pure neglect renters inflict on campers. We have received the kosntnence records from Christie that she got from the sales director at Canadream(they sell units after 1-3 seasons via their retail dealership of wholesale the higher mileage units to the US). You can check their website canadream.ca and go to the sales tab to see the units they sell.
We were also sold a unit for $73k plus TTL, a price based on a unit that was a retail version of the Pleasureway Lexor with 2017 components....the former rental unit we bought are built with the previous years components and in our case, Pleasureway switched out all their components for the 2017 model as they had major issues with the Gerard water heater and the interface used to run all electronic components in this coach. There was also a $2,500 lithium battery system in place per the maintenance records and when we bought, they said that this model didn’t come with the lithium setup...it did and I’m not sure who took it out.
We have asked for a 60k extended bumper to bumper warranty to cover the abuses transmission and motor up to 100k miles or for the dealership to buy back at the price we bought it for. Stahmann has said we can trade it in for market rate...which they would not see as the purchase price we paid....
We have been around in circles for three weeks while the unit is sitting idle. I have gone to the manufacturer and they validated this was a former rental and they have been having issues with US dealerships misleading buyers with this former rental unit being wholesaled into the US. The Canadian rental company buys 50-100/year of these rental specific units from pleasureway.
I hope to find some resolution in this.
