0 star!! This place is horrible!!! They keep raising the rent and when you need maintenance for something you have to go through hell and high water! They said cleaning rugs is a courtesy you have to bring your trash all the from the back of the complex to the front! There are elderly people there and they really don’t care! The older part of the complex is such bad shape it’s falling apart and they could care less! Cabinets are falling apart in the kitchen & bathroom ! This place should be investigated to be made more livable for these poor people who pay so much !!
St Augustine at the Lakes:
When I viewed the apartment model in May of 2017, I was assured that the apartment I would be renting would be exactly like the model. This was far from the truth. The model I viewed was beautiful yet the apartment I have lived in for the past two months is run down, dilapidated and sorely in need of refurbishing. I am constantly calling and needing items to be repaired. This should not be the case.
Apartment:
- Molding on the wall and ceiling (has been tested)
- Falling Apart
- Kitchen seal coming apart
- Unfinished kitchen and Counter
- Carpet rising
- Doors not put in right
- Drawers uneven
- Faucet Molding
- Walls cracked
I have proof of the photos of the apartment that is unfinished, run down, and needs a lot of refurbishing.
Listed below are some, but not all, of the reasons I am terminating this lease:
2. At 3 pm on July 12, 2017, I was scheduled to pick up the keys to my apartment. At 2 pm I received an email that they were behind in their cleaning schedule and my keys would not be available until 4 pm. Upon arrival at 4 pm, I was instructed the apartment was still not ready; however, I could begin moving my things in. During this time, people were still busy cleaning and repairing and making ready my apartment.
a. Within one hour of moving in, the dishwasher in the kitchen began to pour water out on the floor. There was no maintenance man to be found and a member of my family had to search the apartment complex to find help. Finally a maintenance man was found who came and used a wet vac to remove all the water on the floor. It was not until the next day that a part was found and this item repaired.
b. During this move in time, the maintenance manager assured me the following items would immediately be repaired and/or replaced with new items:
i. The ceiling fan in the living room was not working properly. As of this date, this item is still not in working condition and has not been replaced; nor has anyone followed up on this repair.
ii. The blinds in the master bedroom would be replaced, this has still not happened and the blinds themselves are bent, twisted and torn. I spoke to the apartment manager about this on numerous occasions, to no avail. She claimed they just needed to be adjusted, as of this date, that has not happened either.
iii. The doors to the washer/dryer connections would be repainted. This has yet to happen.
c. I completed an inventory and condition form on 7/14/17. It took approximately one month for my items listed to be repaired. This is inexcusable.
d. Since I took occupancy of this apartment, I have dealt with cockroach infestation. Daily I have seen active cockroaches in my apartment. Management has assured me that the pest control service has been completed; however, this problem continues to exist.
e. On August 2nd, maintenance staff gained access to my apartment while I was as work to repair the living room wall inset cabinets. During the time they were in my apartment, they used my guest bathroom leaving dirt everywhere. They also did not put things back where they belonged in my kitchen sink area after they finished their repair. Please note: NO MAINTENANCE STAFF should be using an apartment tenants personal belongings in any way, shape or form. They do not have permission to do this at any time.
f. On August 26th I was cooking dinner in my kitchen and experienced what could have been a serious accident. The tenant above me was running around erratically resulting in the light fixture on my kitchen ceiling breaking lose and crashing to the floor, narrowly missing me. When I informed the complex manager and the leasing consultant of this incident, I received little response. I was informed that a new fixture would be ordered and to date the kitchen still has no fixture.
g. On the same date (August 26th) water was coming out from under the cabinets in the second bathroom. I informed the maintenance staff of this problem and they removed the water. On August 27th the water returned and when the maintenance staff came to fix the problem, he was extremely rude and disrespectful to me, insinuating ‘that I was deaf and could not hear him’ and also before leaving he abruptly stated ‘lock the door.’ His behavior was inexcusable.
3. The laundry room at this apartment complex is an utter disgrace. It is dirty and is rarely cleaned. The garbage is piled high. The laundry mat has a rotten odor. Every time I get my clothes out of the dryer, I find garments in my laundry that do not belong to me. Are people just randomly putting their clothes in other dryers to dry their clothes and save money? This is despicable and disgusting, as is the constant condition of this laundry room.
These are just a few of the reasons I am moving from this complex. I have been very disappointed with both the management and the condition of my apartment.
I have had no problems here. Very nice place to live.
