I have taken a look at the customers siding when she expressed her concerns about some discoloring of it Upon meeting with the customer I determined that the siding was very old and that it had become oxidized over many years of being present in the sun as well as having not been repainted over the years Our experienced workers provided pressure washing services to the homes siding and no damage occurred while we were pressure washing it One of our workers noticed a few drip marks by a window ledge and proceeded to "touch up" the window drips by wiping it down with a towel When he gently wiped down the siding with a towel the siding had been discolored in that particular area The worker did not use any chemicals, or rough/abrasive tools to remove the drip marks He used a standard bath towel and a few pounds of pressure to remove the drip marksThe siding discoloration could have occurred if myself, the a neighborhood teenager, the customer, or anyone else would have wiped down the siding in the similar fashion to clean it This is a cleaning process, and I'm 100% convinced that anyone wiping down the siding would have had the same results This suggests that this is not a "user error" or negligent cleaning act as the customer is suggesting This is the result of cleaning processes used on old and oxidized siding Please keep in mind that our cleaner had used a commercial pressure washing machine on the entire home WITHOUT ANY negative discoloration on the siding The cleaner did not have any evidence suggesting that if he wiped down the siding the results of the wipe down would be discolored siding since pressure washing it did not have the same results Typically if siding is oxidized this can be noticed when doing the pressure washing initially which is something we always look for when initiating our cleaningThe customer indicated that we only gave a $credit toward the payment of repainting the home This is not true We did not charge the customer for the pressure washing which was $and additionally we refunded the customer $(check #11541) for our window cleaning services which the customer was pleased with From our position we did not feel we have caused damage to the home due to reasons stated above but wanted to help the customer out in spite of this frustrating situation The customer has requested our company to spend $2,to repaint her entire home We do not feel this is a reasonable request given that if the siding was not oxidized, our cleaning measures would not have caused the siding to be discolored It would be as if someone washed a car and the paint came off of the car Would it be the cleaners fault or is something wrong with the paint on the car The siding oxidation is a pre-existing condition that our team did not believe at the time would discolor We have have an outstanding reputation and take care of our customers any time there is a concern We have refunded this customer her money back for the job including windows, but we do not feel responsible for painting the entire home due to the reasons above
Squeegee Squad has an outstanding reputation and we take care of all of our customers in accordance to any responsibility we share in We have had an outstanding reputation with the Revdex.com for many years We have wonderful reviews online indicating our customers are extremely happy with our service and results This is the primary reason we have become the largest residential window and pressure washing company in the twin cities metro today Some customers we are not able to keep happy no matter what effort is put forward The siding has pre-existing conditions in it It has oxidized over time We did not cause the siding to oxidize This is a result of old age and time in the Minnesota harsh conditions over time The customer indicates and argues that we are the experts and should not have touched the siding to clean it because it was in this condition I would argue that the homeowner should know the condition of their own home better then anyone and should have made our team aware that there was a pre-existing condition in her siding that would make it susseptible to becoming discolored if we touched it or cleaned it The customer argues that we should have known it was oxidized as we are the "experts" at pressure washing When the work was performed it was done on a rainy and gloomy day Even in sunny conditions it can be difficult to tell if siding has been oxidized or not In gloomy conditions it can be nearly impossible to tell if the siding was oxidized of which is this case we could not tell When we proceeded to pressure wash the siding NOTHING HAPPENED TO IT The entire house did not look different outside of the fact the the siding was now much cleaner After using a commercial grade 3000psi pressure washer on the siding, this left my worker to believe furthermore that the siding was in good condition Only when my worker noticed a few drip marks and proceeded to wipe it down with a towel did some of the oxidation of the siding come off of the siding itself The worker did not wipe down the siding with a bristle brush, steel wool, use harsh chemicals, or anything of that nature They merely wiped down the siding with a hand towel gently This is a standard cleaning procedureI have since been trying to resolve this issue in what I believe is a very generous manner Recently I have reached out to the customer and offered a large financial settlement amount NOT because we are responsible I'm doing it to put this to rest and keep the customer as happy as I possibly can The customer has rejected this offer I offered for my team to purchase a chemical and scrub down her house to remove the oxidized/chalky siding so that her entire home looks good when the paint underneath comes to the surface This would make the home unified in one color and resolve the wipe down blemishes as previously described This would restore the siding color The customer has rejected this offer.I offered to hire a painting company whom the customer selected to use a chemical agent to remove the oxidized/chalky siding so that her entire home looks good when the paint underneath comes to the surface This would make the home unified and resolve the wipe down blemishes as previously described This would restore the siding color and would be a great solution This also would cost our company a lot of money which I was willing to pay in full The customer has rejected this offer.I have now asked the customer to meet with myself and Joe [redacted] who is the Founder of the Squeegee Squad Franchise to look at the home together I have encouraged the customer to bring out a siding company as well as the painting company to meet with us in person I am waiting for a response from her.At this point it is my conclusion that after I offered to help pay for some of the painting of her home, even though we vehemently reject any responsibility for the reasons, the customer has taken my more then generous offer to help her as a sign of weakness and has tried to take advantage of myself and my company to get a free painting job on her home Two options listed above will restore her siding, and yet she has rejected this offer I believe because she wants her home to be painted on our company dollar She initially quoted me $2,to paint the house I made a generous offer of 1/that amount to settle this She then came back to me with another quote indicating it would be $3, Please look at our track record and reputation and you will see that this is a customer trying to defame and damage our company reputation to get something free in return Some customers cannot be satisfied no matter what you do for them That is a fact of business This has been the most difficult and unreasonable customer I have ever experienced in my years of professional business Please remove this from the Revdex.com sight I would be happy to discuss this further in person.Again, I am still pursing to help the customer in spite of all of this and am waiting to hear back from them and see if they will meet myself a colleague and bring anyone to the meeting they would like to as well.Sincerely,Joe
I am rejecting this response because: The business' version of events and timeline is simply not how it happened and their "experts" (if they truly know siding and anything about oxidation) should have known from upon first viewing my siding, that it was "oxidized" as it had a noticeable chalky residue/coatingI'm not arguing the age of my siding or the fact that it was "oxidized" (as a homeowner I was not familiar with this term), I am simply saying that Squeegee Squad, as the experts, should have used this information to have an open and honest conversation with me, the homeowner, advising of the potential negative effects that could happen if they proceed with their "standard" cleaning/pressure washingThis conversation never happenedEverAt any point throughout this processI have since learned from other industry professionals that they should have NEVER proceeded to touch/clean my sidingdue to the siding material (steel), age, and the fact that my home is south facing and gets a lot of sun exposure (which can cause oxidation)then add the fact that my siding DID have a visible chalky coating (which I had know idea was what I now know to be "oxidation")but THEY, the EXPERTS, should have knownThere is a reason I didn't attempt to clean my home as a DIY project or have my neighbor down the road do it or someone from CraigslistI sought out what I thought to be siding professionals and experts who would know how to treat different siding materials and issues that commonly ariseThe business themselves said that oxidation is a common occurrence for older siding, so they then should have used this information to have a conversation with me advising of the possible negative results and I would have never proceeded with the cleaningMy siding looked good before Squeegee Squad touched it and now my home is the neighborhood eyesore and I literally get complaints from my neighbors asking when my siding is going to be restored so my home looks like it once didI did not ask for this damage, I never wanted to have to paint my home's expensive ABC Seamless Siding, but due to Squeegee Squad cleaning my siding, I am now in a position where my home either needs new siding or the existing siding needs to be painted. In addition to the above, several individuals (not the owner) that came to my home to evaluate the damage indicated to me that the crew should have never proceeded with the cleaning in the first place due to the visible chalky residueThey expressed confusion as to why my home got to this stateAnd not only did they do the damage the first time they cleaned, but when I raised the concern about the black swirls after the initial cleaning, they proceeded to come out yet again and make the damage even worse!! Again, instead of taking a step back to understand the cause of the problem and addressing it as professionalsInstead they just hooked up there equipment and proceeded to do even more damageAgain without having a conversation with me, the homeownerAnd the company owner did not come to my home to evaluate the damage first-hand until months AFTER the initial damageIf the damage to my home and customer satisfaction was a priority to him and to his company, why did it take him months to come out to see for himself what was going on? I have several emails where Squeegee Squad agrees to cover the costs associated with the damage and painting of my home, but then they retracted and decided not take accountabilityThe back and forth over the past several months has been extremely stressful for me as a homeowner. This entire situation should have never happenedAll it would have taken was the for the hired professionals to do their job, recognize the risks that anyone who knows anything about siding should have known, and had a simple conversation with me, the homeownerThis could have all been avoided if the experts were expertsI don't want another consumer to go through what I am going through, after just wanting my home to look nice and clean

I would not suggest this company to anyoneI have scheduled separate appointments and they didn't show up for either of themPlus The people in my condo that had the Windows cleaned said they did a terrible job and that I should be glad they didn't show up

Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 5, 2015/07/31) */
I received a very nice phone call yesterday from Stephanie at Squeege Squad. She apologized for the mix up, said that their reputation was important and that they would refund the difference from the quote to the charge. In today's mail, I...
received their check for $125.00. I am very satisfied with their response. It was not really about the money but about feeling taken advantage of. They have made things right by me.
Thank you for your quick response to my problem.

I have taken a look at the customers siding when she expressed her concerns about some discoloring of it. Upon meeting with the customer I determined that the siding was very old and that it had become oxidized over many years of being present in the sun as...
well as having not been repainted over the years. Our experienced workers provided normal pressure washing services to the homes siding and no damage occurred while we were pressure washing it. One of our workers noticed a few drip marks by a window ledge and proceeded to "touch up" the window drips by wiping it down with a towel. When he gently wiped down the siding with a towel the siding had been discolored in that particular area. The worker did not use any chemicals, or rough/abrasive tools to remove the drip marks. He used a standard bath towel and a few pounds of pressure to remove the drip marks.
The siding discoloration could have occurred if myself, the a neighborhood teenager, the customer, or anyone else would have wiped down the siding in the similar fashion to clean it. This is a normal cleaning process, and I'm 100% convinced that anyone wiping down the siding would have had the same results. This suggests that this is not a "user error" or negligent cleaning act as the customer is suggesting. This is the result of normal cleaning processes used on old and oxidized siding. Please keep in mind that our cleaner had used a commercial pressure washing machine on the entire home WITHOUT ANY negative discoloration on the siding. The cleaner did not have any evidence suggesting that if he wiped down the siding the results of the wipe down would be discolored siding since pressure washing it did not have the same results. Typically if siding is oxidized this can be noticed when doing the pressure washing initially which is something we always look for when initiating our cleaning.
The customer indicated that we only gave a $50 credit toward the payment of repainting the home. This is not true. We did not charge the customer for the pressure washing which was $100 and additionally we refunded the customer $254.50 (check #11541) for our window cleaning services which the customer was pleased with. From our position we did not feel we have caused damage to the home due to reasons stated above but wanted to help the customer out in spite of this frustrating situation.
The customer has requested our company to spend $2,300 to repaint her entire home. We do not feel this is a reasonable request given that if the siding was not oxidized, our normal cleaning measures would not have caused the siding to be discolored. It would be as if someone washed a car and the paint came off of the car. Would it be the cleaners fault or is something wrong with the paint on the car. The siding oxidation is a pre-existing condition that our team did not believe at the time would discolor. We have have an outstanding reputation and take care of our customers any time there is a concern. We have refunded this customer her money back for the job including windows, but we do not feel responsible for painting the entire home due to the reasons above.
I am rejecting this response because:
The business' version of events and timeline is simply not how it happened and their "experts" (if they truly know siding and anything about oxidation) should have known from upon first viewing my siding, that it was "oxidized" as it had a noticeable chalky residue/coating. I'm not arguing the age of my siding or the fact that it was "oxidized" (as a homeowner I was not familiar with this term), I am simply saying that Squeegee Squad, as the experts, should have used this information to have an open and honest conversation with me, the homeowner, advising of the potential negative effects that could happen if they proceed with their "standard" cleaning/pressure washing. This conversation never happened. Ever. At any point throughout this process. I have since learned from other industry professionals that they should have NEVER proceeded to touch/clean my siding... due to the siding material (steel), age, and the fact that my home is south facing and gets a lot of sun exposure (which can cause oxidation)... then add the fact that my siding DID have a visible chalky coating (which I had know idea was what I now know to be "oxidation")... but THEY, the EXPERTS, should have known. There is a reason I didn't attempt to clean my home as a DIY project or have my neighbor down the road do it or someone from Craigslist... I sought out what I thought to be siding professionals and experts who would know how to treat different siding materials and issues that commonly arise. The business themselves said that oxidation is a common occurrence for older siding, so they then should have used this information to have a conversation with me advising of the possible negative results and I would have never proceeded with the cleaning. My siding looked good before Squeegee Squad touched it and now my home is the neighborhood eyesore and I literally get complaints from my neighbors asking when my siding is going to be restored so my home looks like it once did. I did not ask for this damage, I never wanted to have to paint my home's expensive ABC Seamless Siding, but due to Squeegee Squad cleaning my siding, I am now in a position where my home either needs new siding or the existing siding needs to be painted. In addition to the above, several individuals (not the owner) that came to my home to evaluate the damage indicated to me that the crew should have never proceeded with the cleaning in the first place due to the visible chalky residue. Again, instead of taking a step back to understand the cause of the problem and addressing it as professionals. Instead they just hooked up there equipment and proceeded to do even more damage. Again without having a conversation with me, the homeowner. And the company owner did not come to my home to evaluate the damage first-hand until 3 months AFTER the initial damage. If the damage to my home and customer satisfaction was a priority to him and to his company, why did it take him 3 months to come out to see for himself what was going on? I have several emails where Squeegee Squad agrees to cover the costs associated with the damage and painting of my home, but then they retracted and decided not take accountability.
