I am writing in receipt of complaint number [redacted] regarding [redacted] stay at the SpringHill Suites Boise ParkcenterWhen a guest uses a debit card, the card is automatically authorized for room and tax plus an additional amount to cover any incidental costs that they might have, this is not a fee, it is simply a hold Upon check out, we release what funds were not used Each individual bank controls how long the hold is kept on the clients account The hotel will not know what date the funds actually return back to the guest’s checking accountIn general, the hotel industry follows this policy, as we require either a credit card or debit card on check in We don’t just take the physical card, we actually run the card for authorization to be sure funds are available This process is followed by gas stations, rental car agencies and hotels, as we are never sure what the total amount of the purchase may beI have attached a copy of the sign that we have posted at the front desk This sign clearly explains how the debit process works Debit cards are an issue in our industry so we developed signage to explain how it works [redacted] money was returned I am happy to write an apology to him, but our policies will not change Sincerely, [redacted]

not a fee, it is simply a hold. Upon check out, we release what funds were not used. Each individual bank controls how long the hold is kept on the clients account. The hotel will not know what date the funds actually return back to the guest’s checking account. In general, the hotel industry follows this policy, as we require either a credit card or debit card on check in. We don’t just take the physical card, we actually run the card for authorization to be sure funds are available. This process is followed by gas stations, rental car agencies and hotels, as we are never sure what the total amount of the purchase may be. I have attached a copy of the sign that we have posted at the front desk. This sign clearly explains how the debit process works. Debit cards are an issue in our industry so we developed signage to explain how it works. [redacted] money was returned. I am happy to write an apology to him, but our policies will not change. Sincerely, [redacted]
