I was made aware of your concern when we spoke in early November. My inquiry has found, you are correct, that my service advisor was informed by the local Ford dealership that the power steering sound was normal, and as per my research and statement in a previous email, "the Ford
Focus electronic power steering system noise is a common problem with this model, and that some go many years without needing replaced and some need attention sooner." If the problem was recommended to be repaired and the vehicle unsafe, we would have repaired the problem, period, no questions asked.As you have stated, " The local Ford dealership said it was normal." I'm so sorry but I cannot review the hundreds of repair orders generated by our service department monthly, and our shop does not arbitrarily determine which recommendations not to listen to. We feel terrible about what has happened and do not believe you should be left holding the bag without any help from us.The free warranty you received is a limited powertrain warranty which covers the internally lubricated parts of the engine, transmission, and drive line for years or 150,miles whichever occurs firstPower steering is a non-covered item. There is no fault to be assignedNeither the customer nor the dealership caused the power steering component to fail. We will as a goodwill gesture pay for half of the repair and provide you transportation for the day. We are confident this is a fair and amicable resolution for both parties
