I went to the Spokane Valley Multicare Hospital FOR RAPE. LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN: I WENT AS A RAPE VICTIM TO HAVE A RAPE KIT, STD TEST, AND EVIDENCE COLLECTION DONE, was low income at the time, have PTSD because of the incident, and this hospital SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS AND THIS HOSPITAL REFUSES TO WORK WITH ME beyond having sent my info to a "specialist", saying if I didn't file charges in the rape case (which I was coerced by my abuser out of filing) that I owe money, and that if someone gets care they have to pay. I am so disgusted it is nauseating. A rape victim who was intimidated out of filing charges should not be stuck footing the medical bill for their rape care. The charges are for $900--and I told them on the phone I am a rape survivor and I am a full time student surviving off of pell grants. The man in billing told me to "calm down" (because I was crying hysterically) and since it is an old account there is nothing he can do. He was rude and unsympathetic. This is shameful, not only for the hospital, but for this debt recovery business, who never gave me any sort of notification that I had any sort of balance for 7 FULL YEARS. I am appalled. Shame on multicare valley hospital. I fully intend on warning as many people as I can on social media about your heartlessness.
I suffered neurological issues this summer for the first time in my life. Mulicare and other neurologists make it very difficult for the average patient to see a neurologist . My primary doctor wrote 3 referrals for me to see a neurologist and all 3 referrals were rejected. I was advised to go to the emergency room or urgent care, in hopes of getting a referral, my condition was getting worse.
I went Mulicare Urgent Care and they told me I needed blood work done to get into see a Neurologist? The stuck me multi times to get my blood and scratch my arm with the needle . They were incompetent and did NOT get my blood sample to their own lab in time for samples to be useable, wasting my time. Next I went to Mulitcare Valley Hospital ER , and I did get a referral to see a neurologist which I am grateful for and I am happy to pay for this ER Visit. My neurologist advised if me if my condition worsened to go to the ER and they would speed up testing to find out what was wrong. I went the ER waited for over 2 hours to be told they cannot help me. The ER did nothing for me and wasted my time. I am not paying for this visit. My symptoms worsen again with my whole body shaking at night, I did what I was told and went back to ER. The E/R did absolutely nothing for me except wastes my time once again. I not paying for this visit either.

On 10/05/2017 I took my youngest son into the Spokane valley hospital, upon checking him in, I filled out the hospital paperwork and indicated multiple times that I was not the guarantor of his insurance. His father is the Insurance guarantor. Several months down the road I received a statement or $368.03 - Immediately I noticed it was addressed to Laura Olson, a name I haven’tegall had in almost 6 years. I called MultiCare Valley Hospital billing multiple times to indicate the name was incorrect and also that I was not the insurance holder. I was told repeatedly there was nothing they could change and that I was legally responsible for the bill. Despite the fact I don’t believe this is my bill I have been making payments since I am the primary parent for ***. On 3/1/2018 I made another $75 payment to the account. I received a confirmation number and the immediate withdrawal of the money came out of my account. Approximately March 20 I called to check the current balance and was told no payment had been previously received. On April 2 Multicare Valley billing informed me they found the payment and applied it to the account but I had since been sent to collections due to their negligence. This account absolutely was not in default and this error is 100% due tot eh hospitals mistake. In addition, the account still doesn’t have the correct legal name. I was told multiple times supervisors would contact me and yet still haven’t heard from one.
Hi *** - I sent the complaint to our billing and financial specialists at Valley Hospital. They were familiar with the situation and apologize for causing anyone to be upset. The key issue in this case is that the mother of the patient registered the patient in the ED and listed herself as the responsible billing party. According to the mother, her ex-husband is responsible for the health insurance on the child, and we should be billing him. Beginning 12/29/17 the patient's mother began calling in and asking to change the guarantor to the ex-husband . We’ve continually stated that she signed for the financial responsibility and therefore is responsible. Custody and payment issues need to be worked out by them, and are not the hospital’s issue. We have attempted to contact the ex-husband, but have not received any response. Total ED bill was $880. *** paid $162.23 on 11/15/17, Valley Hospital wrote off $349.74, leaving a balance of $368.03. The patient paid $80 on 1/24/18, and $75 on 3/30/2018, and $75 on 4/3/2018. Currently, the account is in an early out collection status with State Collections for follow up. Current balance is $138.03.Please confirm that you received this email and let me know if you need anything else. Thank you,Melanie

I am rejecting this response because:
I’m just curious how he ED billed *** if I am not the guarantor, it was a very hectic situation that day but I am fairly certain I listed ***’s father as the insurance provider and the responsible party. I was told by Valley hospital that they would not contact his father for billing. This response also doesn’t answer why I could not have my legal name changed or why I was sent to collections of I was indeed making payments. Especially after Valley multicare admitted that they lost the payment
Sincerely
