Spirit of Texas Bank

I used Spirit of Texas Bank as my mortgage provider. After gathering all the documents requested by them, they gave me written approval to close on my home purchase weeks ahead of my close Date. I heard nothing back from them until the date of closure, when halfway through signing my documents, I received a panicked call from my loan officer telling me that they were missing a critical document and the loan could not be approved without it.

Because they didn't discover their glaring miss until closing day, I was now in breach of my contract with the sellers, so they could walk away from the deal and go with their backup offer without penalty. I had no choice but to concede 3k in for negotiated repairs for them to give me an extension.

Spirit of Texas bank refused to compensate me for the damages I incurred because of their mistake. In fact, they didn't even apologize. They tried blaming everyone but themselves. They blamed me, the title company, the underwriter, my realtor.

Incredibly disappointing behavior for a bank that purports to represent Texas values. As a native Texas, im grossly offended that they try to tie themselves to Texas. They disgrace us.
