The company has organized a school band trip involving students and families from Arkansas and Missouri June 22, 2020. I have paid in full for myself and my 12 year old daughter. Due to the current cover 19 pandemic I would like to cancel this trip and get a full refund. I am on the front lines of the covid-19 pandemic as an Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner. The company refuses to bend of their cancellation policy. If I cancel now, I loose $1000 and if I cancel after May 1st I loose 100%. I have asked the company for a refund for the following reasons:
1. All vacation time at my hospital has been cancelled at least through the end of May and most likely through July so I may not be allowed to travel in June without losing my job.
3. I have concerns about taking my daughter on an airplane and possibly exposing her to the COVID-19 disease.
2. Due to the 2 week incubation period of the virus and my exposure risk, I am concerned about possibly exposing the other travelers on the trip.
I feel this company is taking advantage of people, especially those on the front lines, during this pandemic.

Refund Full refund on the trip for myself and daughter.
The Spirit of Aloha Trip to Hawaii for 2020 has been postponed to 2021 because of restricted travel to the state of Hawaii because of coronavirus government restrictions. We have paid for the trip in full to the vendors in Hawaii on behalf of the students and parents who have signed up to travel with the Honor Band and Choir. We have offered all participants including the person filing this complaint a group trip in June of 2021 at the same price as this years trip. The other options include a voucher for a trip on their own at their convenience excluding peak Hawaii travel times that are greater than the cost of their trip. The last option is a refund of their funds paid with the cancellation fee of $1000. The trip was NON REFUNDABLE after May 1 in conjunction with the contract signed by all participants when they signed up for the trip. Even though we are in the no refund period we are still offering $1000 refund. The travel industry is hurting right now with the travel restrictions. They are not refunding monies easily as all vendors are trying to survive if they are even at work at this point. None of this is desired with the situation caused by the pandemic but we are working diligently to use common industry practices in order to help all travel guests and make them happy in this uncertain time.
I am copying the cancellation portion of the contract. Cancellation Schedule ***
Notification of cancellation must be mailed in writing to the Spirit of America Tours
This cancellation policy will apply to all participants regardless of age. Cancellation fees will be assessed as follows: Up to Aug 15, 2019 - $475 refund
Aug. 16- Dec. 1st, 2019 $500.00 total cancellation fee After March 1st, 2020 $900.00 total cancellation fee
After Dec. 1st, 2019 $700.00 total cancellation fee After April 1st, 2020 $1,000.00 total cancellation fee
After February 1st, 2020 $800.00 total cancellation fee After May 1st, 2020 Total cancellation fee of 100% of the cost of the trip.
Tickets are normally issued 45 days prior to departure. In most cases the tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Air taxes are not confirmed until 45 days prior to departure. Travel insurance is optional if you wish to cover these possible fees.
All participants had the options of purchasing trip insurance to cover these costs when they signed up for the trip.
