MrDonney Hyde purchased an ATV from us in and brought his unit back to us later that year stating that his ATV had caught on fireThe unit was completely burnt up and we tried on his behalf to get American Honda Corp to cover the damage
or in this case replace the unit
We discovered after examining the unit, and after talking with MrHyde that he had gotten an aftermarket winch installed on his unitNeither the winch nor the installation was done here at Honda of the Ozarks
Because this unit had aftermarket parts installed by a non-authorized Honda dealer, American Honda Corp declined to replace his unitUnfortunately aftermarket winches, especially when installed improperly, have been known to catch on fire and it is for this reason that we believe American Honda Corporation decided that the damages are not covered by Honda's TRX Limited Warranty
We have suggested MrHyde confront the winch manufacturer as well as whoever did the installation as we believe this is his best bet to recover some or all of the damages
MrHyde still has his unit here at the dealership which we have been storing free of charge for over monthsWe have informed MrHyde that he needs to take his unit backWhile there is nothing more we can do to replace his unit we would gladly work with MrHyde to get him back on a new unit at a fantastic price
