The smog inspection that the State of California requires consumers to have performed on 2000 and newer vehicles consist of two areas. inspection process starts, we are required to complete the inspection, unless a safety issue arises. You contracted us to perform that smog inspection on your vehicle and that is what we did. For these services, we charged you $56.75. Because your vehicle failed the state mandated inspection doesn't warrant a refund of services performed.A "treadmill test" is only done on vehicles 1999 and older, so this part of your complaint is irrelevant since your vehicle is a 2001.I have been self employed in the automotive community of Modesto for the last 33 years. I have never taken advantage of anyone as you presumptuously stated. Our business practices are not based on yelp reviews but on Biblical principles and practices. I hope this clears up your confusion on this matter.
Review: I went in to get my car smog tested (with 4 kids in tow and one on the way) and the worker informed me it would take about 15 minutes. 5 minutes later he was done. He told me I didn't pass smog and charged me $57.00. I thought to myself that that was awfully quick...and expensive. After looking at the results and taking them to a mechanic I was informed that I had been taken advantage of! All speedway did was notice that my check engine light was on and failed me because of it...a steering wheel pressure sensor. They should have told me to get it fixed and then come back, but instead charged me almost $60.00 to tell me what my check engine light code was. They NEVER ran a treadmill test. There are no emission numbers listed on any of the paper work. So now I have to risk getting my chek engine light fixed, going back for a retest, and possible finding out my car still wont pass after a treadmill test is done. Very shady!! :(After reading reviews on yelp, this company seems to do this often. This isn't right!Desired Settlement: I would like my money back. I can get my check engine light tested at any car service place for free.
