Speed's Towing of Vancouver, Inc. received a call from the Washington State Patrol rotation dispatch desk at 4:45 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2015. This call was for an accident located on SR 500 Eastbound, West of Andresen for a 1 (one) car vs. barrier. WSP provided a tow/impound and inventory record....
With this record and in conjunction with WSP, we removed said vehicle to our lot. There was no one on the scene with the vehicle, other than WSP. Our office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 5:00 PM, but we are a 24 (twenty-four) hour service. Since the office was closed, we are able to charge a gate fee of $90.00 plus tax. [redacted] drove to our office and saw a driver leaving for a call. She didn't have enough money for the charges against the vehicle. The fee at that time was $291.50 plus tax of $24.44 for the total of $315.94. Even with the offer from "[redacted]", she wasn't going to have all the money. We do not release the vehicle without lull payment at the time of release. Joe did tell her to come back on Monday and talk to the office. He gave her our business card. She decided to leave the title for payment. She signed the front side of the title only. She left her phone number with Joe, which we called on Monday. Please see attached notes that were made after trying to talk with her and to explain that a title to a wrecked 1994 Toyota will not satisfy our bill. [redacted] was belligerent to our office person. Our Company is unable to be profitable by working for titles to wrecked, old vehicles. As required by law, she was mailed a vehicle impound notice as well the impound hearing request form. If she felt we had acted improperly, this would have been her chance to take this case to court. She was also mailed a certified letter telling her of the pending sale and the amount of fees, to date, which had accrued. The letter was not picked up and is still in the custody of the post office. Since we are a towing firm, not a used car lot or wrecking yard, we are only able to sell vehicles with an abandoned vehicle report. We can only hold a sale for vehicles after advertising the auction and hold the auction. This AVR come from Washington State DOL. The lien at the time of sale was $1.439.00 (One thousand four hundred thirty-nine dollars). We attempted to communicate with her by telephone, we sent 1st class mail as well as certified mail with no response. She chose not to have contact and thought this matter would just disappear. We are owed for our work and are expecting payment. We will not retract the balance due us after the sale of her vehicle. With our phone call to her, we have gone beyond the scope required by both WAC and RCW. Sincerely, Dorothy L[redacted] Secretary/Treasurer

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: the business response is inacurrate. I never stated it was all my tires. I called them immediately after bringing my car to the shop after noticing something was wrong the business then stated that they would go look at my vehicle and the damages which they never did. It was after repeatedly trying to contact them about my one tire and trying to talk to them that I asked if I needed to contact my lawyer. They told me they would look at my car. They never did. The shop I took my car to can attest to this. After weeks of trying to contact them and being brushed off I stopped by the business called almost every day I took action in every possible way to get them to return my calls. I finally got a response saying I should bring the bill in for the tire and that they would send me a check. I waited ten days for the check before calling them again and asking if it had been mailed and what the status was. I was brushed off again and told that I should leave a message and someone would get back to me no one did. I do NOT want the money back for my car being towed. I want the money for the destruction of my property. Which they originally said they would go to the shop verify and then pay me for which they never did. And then told me they would mail me the check for after bringing the bill to them. I have repeatedly tried to get in touch with the owner but he will not call me back. I have the tire and a statement from the shop I would like them to talk to me to return my calls which they still have yet to do. I want to settle this and they refuse to contact me at all. They haven't spoken to me other than a few eords saying that I should leave my name and number so I can understand how they wouldn't know any to all of the details, let alone have them be correct.
Sincerely,
