Review: We purchased a chrome motorcycle helmet from this seller on Ebay.com. When rec'd, it did not fit so we boxed it back up and returned to seller. We allegedly did not place it back in the plastic wrap (tho it was encased in styrofoam) and it was scratched by the interior flat surface of a cardboard box. I am fine with accepting responsibility for that but the seller 1) assumes that it was scratched in transit when the argument could be made that it was scratched by their own warehouse workers. 2) they charged me $15 of the $50 purchase price as a restocking fee which is a whopping 30% (much higher than an ave restocking fee) and 3) they charged me $10 for shipping even tho they advertized free shipping and I already paid out of pocket for return shipping. 4) Initially he offered to just ship the item back to me and when I said I still felt like this was not a fair transaction, he made the decision to process a return based on a disagreeable figure. I feel like this seller knows that I am frustrated and have no recourse and they are trying to be as difficult as possible. He tried to say that they can't re-sell but they will be able to sell as is and likely make a profit still. Who cares if a helmet has minimal light scratches. I wouldn't care, especially if it meant I got a 10% discount. Stores sell that way all the time. It's not damaged to the point of being unsafe. I told him I am reasonable and I can accept they they are charging me for a less than perfect item. But if it's that easily scratched it could have happened at any time. They offered to provide photos but Ebay does not permit email addresses to be exchanged through Ebay.Desired Settlement: I think that a 10 to 20% restocking fee is reasonable but the shipping should be refunded since they advise of free shipping.
