We went to the home of **.& *** *** on 09-24-We gave them an estimate to repair a walkway that was already thereWe ended up doing the repair on 05-27-As you can see on the estimate I have included, we only replaced brick and repointed the walkway and front stoopWe did not
give this gentleman a year warranty, if we did, it would have been written on the original copyWe went back out to his home after they called in and tried to work something out with them, but they kept demanding that we go back over the entire walkway free of chargeOur technician said him and his wife were very rude, so he just left

I am rejecting this response because: it is inaccurate. First, it was not a technician, but the owner, Kevin Smith, who met with us. He was the one who promised us back in there was a year warranty. At the time, we spoke quite a bit about this warranty, as this was the only reason we decided to have this work done in the first place- I was concerned it would crack again. There was no ambiguity or confusion, as it was the focal point of the conversation then.When he returned in Apr to discuss the repairs to the crumbling walkway, MrS*** denied even doing the work in question. He claimed they had not done the mortar work on the entire walkway, only parts of it. When I showed him the work order he wrote describing the mortar work for the entire walkway, he ignored it and stormed off. I simply asked him if he would honor his word and do the work he promised, so I'm not sure how that is rude. Looking at other online reviews of Ashmasters (for example, in ***), you can see this is a pretty common problem- warranties are promised but not honored by this company

The truth is, we did not tell him we would give him a 5 year warranty. It would have been written on his receipt. Sometimes people just like to slander names if they do not get what they want. If we would have laid this walkway from scratch, then we might have considered giving him a 3 to 5 year warranty, but we only repointed it, so we did not give a warranty.

I am rejecting this response because:When the owner of a small business convinces you to purchase his service because of a warranty and spends the entire conversation talking about the warranty, you assume he's not totally lying to you and I guess that's why I forgot to look for the fine print on the receipt.  I guess that's my fault for believing the guy and not checking.  I would only point out that having things in writing doesn't really matter to Ashmasters anyway- **. [redacted] claimed he'd hadn't done the mortar work on the whole walkway, and when I showed him the work order (that he himself had written) describing they had done all the work, he shrugged it off and drove away.  The fact that this is is the first Revdex.com complaint I have ever filed, combined with the numerous complaints on [redacted] that Ashmasters lies about and doesn't honor warrantees, gives a good indication that this is just the way this company operates.
