I went to see Dr. Arush Angirasa for a simple follow up after my minor emergency visit for a broken middle toe. I'm a diabetic and wanted to insure it was healing correctly. I took my own Xrays from the Miner ER clinic the week before. The Dr. Looked at the Xray and wiggle my toe and said it looks fine. Nothing more needed and did not require and kind of pain medications or anything. The nurse then asked me to leave a urine sample before leaving as it is "Required for all New Patients" I did as asked and left paying my little co pay. the next month I get a notification from my insurance that Dr Angirasa had ordered an almost $10,000.00 Extensive Drug Panel be done on the urine I left. The lab he sent this test to was "Southwest Laboratories LLC in AZ" Hmmm interesting ... same name.... the date of service on the labs was a full 11 days before I ever saw the Dr. .... Hmmm.... A simple $100.00 follow up visit is not a $10,000.00 claim to my insurance. Again I received NO medications from this Dr. After several calls and complaints I was told this is just protocol and he orders these "EXTENSIVE Drug testing on all new patients even if he doesn't treat them with drugs..... I have reported him for insurance fraud. If you have seen this Dr. Take a close look at your Insurance claims that have been filed for this kind on un-necessary and unwarranted testing.
