Mr***'s insurance appears to have changed around the first of November I was not aware of this until he was in the middle of his
treatmentIf he was told his coverage would remain the same that was not correct and he was not told this by meWe inform patients of their estimated co-pays as accurately as we can based on the information provided us by the patients and insurance carriersWe do this as a courtesy to our patients but the responsibility for knowing their policy limitations ultimately falls on the patientAt no time do we or would we intentionally mislead a patientIf Mr*** changed to a different PPO insurance and he needed to go to a in network dentist it was his responsibility to know this and do soWe also continued to charge PPO fees based on his old insuranceSince we were no longer in network he was not entitled to a PPO discountBecause there was some confusion about his coverage I told him I would honor his old PPO fee scheduleThis was a discount of $which he was not entitled to but I still gave himWhen he came in for his last appointment his insurance had paid in full leaving him a balance of $which was collected leaving him with a zero balanceThere will be no further discounts or refunds given to Mr***In the future Mr*** needs to practice more due diligence in understanding his insurance policies

As soon as my coverage changed I went into the office immediately and gave my new insurance card to his receptionist, at which point she told me my coverage would remain the same, it was not in the middle of my visit!, it was weeks before my appointmentIt was never Disclosed to me they were out of network until I started owing them money and called to inquire whyThe receptionists exact words were I don't know why they didn't pay the full amount you need to call your providerThe truth is Dr.S and the office new they were out of network and never disclosed it hoping I would just pay out of pocket and remain a patientI guess Trust and Respect for the Individual, Honesty, and Integrity are not items high on the list of there company valuesDR.S continues to act like he did me a favor with his response, and is not taking any accountabilityI do not consider this matter closed

As I stated in my first response I was not made aware of his insurance change until I was in the middle of his treatmentIf he asked my receptionist about his coverage when it changed and she told him it would remain the same this was incorrectUnfortunately for him it is not our responsibility to read and understand each individuals insurance policyThat is HIS responsibilityIf he needs to go to a in network provider he needs to determine who that is and go thereMy financial policy states that anything not paid by the insurance company is the responsibility of the patientChris was given a discount he was not entitled to, but I told him I would honor thatI am not going to issue him a refund or give him any further discountsHe needs to go to a provider in his network

IT UNFORTUNATE THERE IS SO MUCH DECEPTION THESE DAYS AND MAKING A BUCK IS SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN DOING THE RITE THING FOR PEOPLEIT IS OBVIOUS THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY ON THERE ENDCLEARLY THERE WAS NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE RECEPTIONIST AND THE DOCTOR, SHE WAS HIS EMPLOYEE AND IS STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT SHE TOLD MEI CONSIDER THIS MATTER CLOSEDALL WE HAVE IN LIFE IS OUR INTEGRITYGOOD LUCK !

I do not routinely provide free dental care for the extended family of employees. If Mr. [redacted]'s step
daughter told him this was the case she did so without my knowledge or approval....

Mr. [redacted]'s claims about attempting to pay his co-pays are completely false which will be related below by my receptionist who dealt with him at the front desk. As far as going to collections Mr. [redacted] received statements on 07/01/2015, 08/24/2015, 09/02/2015, 10/01/2015 and 11/02/2015 before his account was turned over to collections. Due to the apparent confusion if $500.00 is paid immediately I will consider this as a payment in full. If not this account will remain in collections for the entire amount.
To whom this may concern my name is Devonie Y[redacted] I am the receptionist at Dr. S[redacted]'s office and I dealt with Mr. [redacted]. He never stopped at the front desk to make a payment to me nor did I schedule his appointments he would always walk out and have his step daughter make his appointments for him. I am an employee and there is no policy for family members to receive free dental care written or verbal. My husband had to have work done and we paid for it.

When I finished my first appointment with this dentist I went to the receptionist and asked if there were any co pays to go along with this. She told me no. And she also told me that there would be no other charges involved in my dental work that whatever the insurance company paid would be good enough. This was due to myself having a stepdaughter employed by this dentist. ms [redacted] is lying and she knows it. just because he is a dentist does not make what he says true.
