We have bent over backwards to try and make this customer happy alreadyOur installer went out a second time for free to take care of some things that the customer wanted done that were not part of the original installation such as grounding the demarcation box (which is supposed to be done by the electrician that originally wired the home and not us - this is normally an additional charge)We also put some silicone behind all the small wire cable clips per his request to try and make him happy so I have no idea why he is still complaining about it nowThe TV antenna was mounted a couple feet from of the peak of the roof because at the very peak of the roof, the extra roof cap tiles would impede the ability to point the antenna correctly as it would hit the side of the houseThis is a moot point anyway as the installer had already determined with his signal meter that there would not be any signal improvement by placing it at the peak especially since the TV antenna is mounted on the side of the house that faces the towerThe mount is designed to use either or screws depending on the mounting location and weight loadThe antenna only weighs lbsand the mast is designed to support over lbs so this is more than adequate and we guarantee this will not be an issueEverything is installed correctly but the customer seems to think he's the expert on all of these things and knows more than us even though we've been doing this kind of work for over years with an impeccable record of customer satisfactionI should also mention that everything on the original installation was done with his knowledge and consent beforehand as he was watching the installer the whole time since he is a very particular personFurthermore, it was explained to the customer when he originally placed the order for us to come install the TV antenna, that there is NO GUARANTEE as to what channels you will get since there are many uncontrollable factors that can affect reception AND HE AGREED TO IT (we tell all of our customers this)What it boils down to is simply thisthere are one or two channels that the customer wanted that are not coming in as well as he would like and now he's upset and wants his money back even though he agreed to the risks beforehand and knew that certain channels may not come in well or at allOver a dozen other channels come in perfectly which means the antenna is installed correctly or they would not come in well either (It is not uncommon for some channels to come in better than others or to not get some at all)He is upset that he cannot get these channels and there isn't really anything we can do about itThe tower is less than miles away from his house and he has a mile antenna so there's nothing wrong with the antennaThe signal strengths of each channel to his house is not something we can controlHe claims that we said we would charge him $for another service call but that is not true, we told him that if he wanted, we could install a 2-piece antenna pre-amplifier for $and that might help pull in some of the weaker signals but there is no guarantee with that either and he was upset about thatThis customer has been rude to our staff and has already tried to chargeback his credit card charge for this service and after we sent detailed information about this installation along with the manufacturer installation instruction sheet to the credit card company, it was quickly determined that our work was done properly and that there was no merit to any of his claims and ultimately the charge was upheldThis caused the customer to be even more angry and then he resorted to leaving a libelous review about us on Yelp.com and now again with the Revdex.com thinking he can strong-arm us into giving him a refund simply because he didn't like to outcome of the risks he agreed to
Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:Their response is wrong in many areas. As stated in my original post both the first and second tech they sent out brought ladders too short to do the jobDuring the initial install the tech told me he didn't bring a tall enough ladder to reach the peak of the roof but told me he mounted it as high as he could reachThe second tech, who was supposed to put some sealant on the nails and screws couldn't because he brought an even shorter ladder than the first tech so he couldn't reach the screws even if he wantedIf anyone would like to come see for themselves you'll find I am correct, they are wrong. Also, during the original install, when I asked about the grounding, copper spike into the ground as is recommended by both the antenna manufacturer Winegard in both their Pipe/Tower Mounting Kit Model DS-2000/and antenna installation instructions REVO 1/WC 1051, as well as federal guidelines to this effectI was told by both the installer, and later by the gentleman at the store, that it was more dangerous to ground the antenna, and they proceeded to tell me anecdotes to make their point I later did research and found the literature mentioned above that proves them wrong againThere are countless websites by manufacturers, government agencies, and other TV antenna installers that prove they were wrong in just about everything they've said. The gentleman at the store did say he couldn't quarantee reception as weather like wind, rain and snow could effect the signalI've know that for over yearsI've worked at and managed a large electronics store for years, installed plenty of TV and FM radio antennas myself over the decades, and I would have installed this antenna if I didn't have knee problems and should be climbing ladders. The gentleman at the store, when I asked if his antenna would get better reception than my indoor antenna, said his roof installation would get a much better signal and more stations, which again, is not the case as I have readouts showing my little $indoor antenna, mounted feet off the ground, not only gets a better signal but many more stationsSo, again he was proven wrong.I'm running out of time to post this but one last thing, the initial installer did not have a signal meter, something I asked him about but he left it at home and said he just "Eyeballed it".Sincerely,*** ***
We have bent over backwards to try and make this customer happy already. Our installer went out a second time for free to take care of some things that the customer wanted done that were not part of the original installation such as grounding the demarcation box (which is supposed to be done by the...
electrician that originally wired the home and not us - this is normally an additional charge). We also put some silicone behind all the small wire cable clips per his request to try and make him happy so I have no idea why he is still complaining about it now. The TV antenna was mounted a couple feet from of the peak of the roof because at the very peak of the roof, the extra roof cap tiles would impede the ability to point the antenna correctly as it would hit the side of the house. This is a moot point anyway as the installer had already determined with his signal meter that there would not be any signal improvement by placing it at the peak especially since the TV antenna is mounted on the side of the house that faces the tower. The mount is designed to use either 2 or 4 screws depending on the mounting location and weight load. The antenna only weighs 4.4 lbs. and the mast is designed to support over 15 lbs so this is more than adequate and we guarantee this will not be an issue. Everything is installed correctly but the customer seems to think he's the expert on all of these things and knows more than us even though we've been doing this kind of work for over 30 years with an impeccable record of customer satisfaction. I should also mention that everything on the original installation was done with his knowledge and consent beforehand as he was watching the installer the whole time since he is a very particular person. Furthermore, it was explained to the customer when he originally placed the order for us to come install the TV antenna, that there is NO GUARANTEE as to what channels you will get since there are many uncontrollable factors that can affect reception AND HE AGREED TO IT (we tell all of our customers this). What it boils down to is simply this... there are one or two channels that the customer wanted that are not coming in as well as he would like and now he's upset and wants his money back even though he agreed to the risks beforehand and knew that certain channels may not come in well or at all. Over a dozen other channels come in perfectly which means the antenna is installed correctly or they would not come in well either (It is not uncommon for some channels to come in better than others or to not get some at all). He is upset that he cannot get these channels and there isn't really anything we can do about it. The tower is less than 10 miles away from his house and he has a 40 mile antenna so there's nothing wrong with the antenna. The signal strengths of each channel to his house is not something we can control. He claims that we said we would charge him $100 for another service call but that is not true, we told him that if he wanted, we could install a 2-piece antenna pre-amplifier for $100 and that might help pull in some of the weaker signals but there is no guarantee with that either and he was upset about that. This customer has been rude to our staff and has already tried to chargeback his credit card charge for this service and after we sent detailed information about this installation along with the manufacturer installation instruction sheet to the credit card company, it was quickly determined that our work was done properly and that there was no merit to any of his claims and ultimately the charge was upheld. This caused the customer to be even more angry and then he resorted to leaving a libelous review about us on Yelp.com and now again with the Revdex.com thinking he can strong-arm us into giving him a refund simply because he didn't like to outcome of the risks he agreed to.
