I had a windshield washer fluid leak. I was charged $50 for the repair which consisted of wrapping a piece of electrical tape around the hose!I am writing to complain about a poor service practice and over charge. Reference: [redacted], dated 1/22/14. One of the issues I brought the car in for was I suspected my windshield fluid was leaking. The following is exact verbiage from the R/O listed above: "Customer states windshield wash is leaking, check and advise of estimate of repair? Work performed by [redacted]. Tech Repaired a broken Washer fluid system hose. Sub Total $50.00". The windshield fluid has been leaking again. I had a friend of mine who is a mechanic take a quick look and he pointed out to me the repair: The tech wrapped the hose with electrical tape!!!!!! (which was unraveling currently). I was charged $50. To have a piece of electrical tape wrapped around the hose. I expected professionals would be working on my car! Such shoddy workmanship and charging $50 for a piece of tape which probably took 1 minute to do! My friend told me that the correct fix should have been a plastic fitting which joins the smaller hose to the larger hose!I have taken pictures of this and am reporting this to the Revdex.com and [redacted].Desired SettlementRefund of $50, plus tax (less 25 cents for a couple inches of tape)Business Response The customer has simply copied and pasted an email they sent to the dealership. The customer was contacted and offered a complete $50 refund before the dealership was notified of the Revdex.com complaint. The technician did repair the vehicle and 4 months later the customer experienced another windshield washer fluid leak. The "electrical tape" that the customer refers to is actually applied at the factory to secure the heating element wire to the windshield washer fluid hose so that in the winter time the fluid can be thawed out and used to clear the windshield. The level of dissatisfaction partly due to misinformation from a third party moved us to do something above and beyond our 12mo/12K mile parts and labor warranty and will be issuing and mailing a check for a full $50 refund. Consumer Response VW in an 7/11/14 email promised a $50 refund to be mailed in 7 -10 days and they have not sent itAs settlement for a previous complaint made on Revdex.com, VW sent me an email on 7/11/2014 told me they would send me a $50 refund (but denied inferior service even though it was). After not receiving it more than 2 weeks I emailed VW. The response on 7/30/14 via email from VW indicated that the check was in the finance office. After more than 6 weeks I still did not receive the check and emailed them again. I emailed them again and the response I received from them on August 22, 2014 indicated they were not going to send me a refund but would send a $50 gift card. I do not want a gift card as I no longer wish to use this dealer due to poor service. I want the refund promised on 7/11/2014. VW promised a refund of $50 on 7/11/2014 to be received in 7 -10 days. I did not receive it and now instead they want to give me a gift card. I do not want the gift card I want the $50 refund as they told me they would send me on 7/11/14.Business Response To Whom It May Concern, We at Southern States Volkswagen Of Durham have resolved all issues regarding the customer and have refunded the customer for the inconvenience. Thank You [redacted]GM
