This was the worst experience of my life and has caused me much trauma. I recently went to Southern Maryland foot and Ankle owned by a Dr. POINTER(I guess it is, at least that is what a NURSE DANIELLE K RN stated), I am so traumatized by this practice that I had to get this experience out and tell the world, as I felt helpless as this all white crew of young woman treated me like dirt slammed the door in my face in an office and screamed at me several times to Get out!. I came to this office for an issue and as an elderly woman was chastised because I did not speak or curtsy to the white receptionist(CAMERON) when she opened the door for me to come in . When I came in, I was looking in my purse for something and she was offended because I did not say hello to her first.( I guess that why she was offended at least that is what the office manager Danielle said I don’t know.) I did, however, say hello after she angrily snapped hello at me. When she proceeded to take me in the back, she was very rude and nasty. Acted as If she did not want to care for the pt. I asked her what was wrong with her and what was her name thinking the staff would address her rudeness. I guess I was naïve to think that the customer should be treated with respect and if not it should be addressed with the manager. That however seems not to be the case at Southern Maryland foot and ankle where the young receptionist are first priority and the pt. care is last. Instead, when I addressed the youNg ladies’ rudness, I was screamed at by a Danielle K, RN and told you need to speak to our staff when you come in. Danielle K. stated Cameron(office staff) told me she said hello when you walked in the door and you did not say anything to her. (This is incorrect as I said hello back)
Excuse me for thinking the point of a Dr’s office was to care for the patients and not the egos or neurosis of the prepubescent staff who feel slighted because they are not greeted coddled or curtsied to the way they think they should be. Remember this is a doctor’s office and many of the patients that come in here are sick. It is not the patient’s job to address the staff’s itic insecurities .The office manager responded to my complaint by pushing me out of the office and slamming the door in my face(( I believe she pushed me if my recollection is correct not sure but I know for sure she slammed the door in my face and said get out!) because at this point I blacked out due to the severe brutality of the experience and this woman yelling at me to GET OUT! as she slammed the door in my face. Meanwhile I have paid the copay. She stated you need to address our staff when you come in here. The Dr., a Dr POINTERl sat sheepishly with a benign embarrassed grin with his head down with a bashful look as to “say my name is Bennet and I am not in it” I could not have been more ashamed of a black doctor in my life. He let these two young white females treat an elderly black client like dirt scream at them and throw them out of his office while slamming the door in their face. Why because I wanted to know the name of the young lady who was being rude and when I addressed it with her office manager Danielle, I was screamed at and kicked out of the office and told you need to speak to our staff and greet them when you see them. HUHH?. This practice is DEPOLORABLE. Please, Please , PLEASE do not go if you value your sanity and dignity. As a person of color, I am ashamed that this black doctor Dr Powell would let his staff treat a black elderly woman this way. Forget black any elderly woman(White Chinese, Arab, Indian, Japanese, Hispanic) but it just stings to see this black doctor sit idle by and let this white prepubescent staff treat his black patients like this in a black neighborhood and say and do nothing. FOR SHAME. Cameron and Danielle K RN and for Shame Dr. JUSTIN POINTER.
There are too many podiatrist out here to put up with this. I urge you to run, boycott and not walk from this horrendous, deplorable, unethical establishment owned by a doctor who seemingly has no back bone or ethics and a staff who in my opinion should really not be in customer service or health care.
Ps. Please staff do not respond to this review using my name. I am too embarrassed for anyone to know I went here.
If you have experienced care similar to what I have experienced at Southern Maryland foot and ankle, where you feel the staff is taken better care of than the patients and the patients are treated like Sxxx . Please share your experience.
Hash tag: Health care businesses that cater to ancillary staff not patient’s should not be in business.
If you also have a traumatic experience like mine please share. There is power in numbers. Hash tag: Patient’s matter
HASH TAG; IT IS DEPLORABLE TO ABUSE THE ELDERLY, BOYCOTT THIS PLACE!
God Bless! As pt.’s do matter! You matter!

ERROR DR.'S NAME IS DR JUSTIN POINTER.
They were quick to set up an appointment for 3:00 (which was appreciated), requesting that I bring my child in by 2:45 to complete paperwork. I left work early to deal with the rain and traffic and arrive early. Due to traffic conditions, we arrived at 2:49 and even though we were 11 minutes early for the appointment, we were four minutes too late to complete the paperwork. As the parent of a child with a serious underlying medical condition, which increases the risk of amputation, I was stunned by their callous disregard. We never saw a doctor and so it is impossible for me to rate the doctors. The front office, however, gave me the impression of a business that charges customers and not a medical practice that treats patients. This is just the experience of one family and hopefully others have a more positive experience. I was incredibly disappointed and will not return.
My entire family has been going to Southern Maryland Foot and Ankle (Dr. Larry H[redacted] Podiatrist) for a couple years and today I am turned away for being 4 minutes late to an appointment. Two months ago they apparently instituted a zero late policy - unbeknownst to be. When I asked for proof they told me they could not produce a signed acknowledgement; they said they leave it on the reminder message, which I never received. I even called the office this morning to confirm the appointment and they never said anything about this absurd policy. I acknowledged I was late and indicated that the fire trucks and ambulances in the parking lot delayed my parking and I had to park farther away from the building than I ordinarily would have. Did it take 4 minutes? Probably not, but where is the application of what is 'reasonable'? Then I asked to speak with the doctor and he flat out refused to see me. I asked if 4 minutes was worth 4 patients and again was told they have a zero late policy, so I assume it was worth my family's business. And I assume Dr. H[redacted]' Mercedes is already paid for. Absolutely pitiful.
