I saved all the emails and text messages back and forth from everyone involvedI am happy to share them with anyone interested but did not want to waste forum members time reading through all them in a post.[b]Yep, I have those same emails and texts ***Nothing to hide on my endI don't have the time to sit on this forum all day and defend my credibility against a disgruntled hunter either, but I'll make an exception for? you[/b]Neither [redacted] nor his team are bad people, but South Texas Hunting Outfitters does not communicate in a timely nor accurate manner with their clientsI have hunted with many outfitters over the years, including a trip to South Africa in and never once did I have to repeatedly follow up to get answers to emails, texts, or callsMost, if not all of STXHO's communication to me was answered within hours, and definitely not days.I apologize if we did not get back to you quick enough, we are swamped during hunting seasonI already admitted that and apologized that to you.To set a few things straight:There was NOT bedding on the bedsI slept with my jacket rolled up as a pillow on a towel laid out on the mattressI would be happy to have anyone call my year old father or year old son to ask them about this [redacted] was not there so he does not know this. There definitely was bedding at the ranch on the bedsI know this because my camp manager told me there was along with of my guidesI can provide their numbers to anyone and they can tell their story just like your year old kid and year old fatherIF you slept on a jacket and a towel thats your fault because you should have had proper bedding or you could have asked for something to sleep onI have spent a lot of money on bedding over the years, I know I have bedding for a fact.? I did not call [redacted] during or shortly after the hunt because he was down with the FluI left him alone for a few weeks until he was (hopefully) feeling betterI DID VERY CLEARLY express my dissatisfaction to [redacted] while on the ranch. Thanks for your courtesy but an email/ text/ call would have been sufficient based on how happy you seem to beA few weeks is a long time to wait on a issue such as the one you are raising a stink aboutI just confirmed with ***, and he was not aware of any of thisIf he had been, he could have corrected the issue.? I did turn down the offer to return to hunt in South Texas? in June? when I was told by [redacted] that was my only option (and he said he was told to say that - happy to send a copy of that text also)The original hunt was in February and it was hot enough thenI can't imagine sitting in a steel box blind in June in Texas!I told [redacted] to offer a hunt in June because that was my soonest open dateIf you did not want to hunt in June why didn't you ask for another date? Maybe in the Fall when it is cooler and more comfortable for your father? I have those same texts and I can send them also.? If anyone wants further details, copies of the emails or texts, feel free to PM or email meI filed a complaint with the Revdex.com as well requesting a refund.Same offer from me, I have email and texts and I am happy to give my guides phone numbers for anyone that wants to ask them questionsI am currently disputing this with the Revdex.com on my endIf you wanted a refund you should have called me while you were on the hunt, not months laterI think I have the email from you where threatened me that you would do what you are doing now if I did not make the situation rightI tried to make it right but you declined.? ? [redacted] and his team might very well be great people, but I have great difficulty justifying spending thousands of dollars on travel and vacation time again to try and coordinate a hunt with them again.? We try to be good people and do the right thing alwaysIf you wish to decline that is your choice, but the effort has been madeI can keep going back and forth with you, and soon all the trolls on this forum will be chiming in their cents but I just don't have the time to play gamesI have done my best to make it right and my offer still stands.? We all know every story has sidesI was told a long time ago by a very distinguished quail hunting guide that you cannot keep everyone happy and you will have complainers, in todays time I see that in a lot of casesMost situations come down to the hunter being a ignorant or over expectations ( I am in no way directing that towards ***) but if you do your best to control the factors that you can and treat others the way you would like to be treated then your doing the right thing.? What this boils down to is a disgruntled hunter who thinks they got taken advantage of so by all means he's going to sit on the computer and trash the outfitter until he feels betterI have apologized and offered to make things right

I hunted the property near RefugioHere is my review of it.It took me a while to write this review as I was attempting to work something out with the guide service to resolve the problems I encounteredAs a consolation I was offered a follow up hunt for one person in Freer Texas in JuneThis is a long write up, so get some popcorn and read onThe short version is to avoid this outfitter like the black plague.I started communicating with [redacted] in September of attempting to book a Javelina hunt for my Father, my Son, and meWe have hunted feral hogs several times and very specifically wanted to book a Javelina huntThis was made clear in several emails back and forth with the owner, [redacted] I had to correct his reference to a “Hog hunt” multiple times and remind him we wanted to hunt Javelina, or not go at all.Once I confirmed the dates of Feb 15-for the three of us, the communication problems continuedEmails went unanswered for days, despite multiple re-sends from meFinally as we neared the hunting dates, I needed to confirm the location of the actual ranch with [redacted] The first request for this information went out in December and I had to follow up in January to get a response, which ultimately changed again two weeks before the hunt.Yes, email did go unanswered for daysI will admit that- when your running several ranches daylight till dark during the middle of deer season it is hard to respond with awayI apologized to [redacted] about that and he was ok with it, AT THE TIMEWhen booking the hunt I informed him that I would reach out to hunt before the hunt, and that is exactly what I didI sent a final pre-hunt email to [redacted] on February 3rd, confirming our arrival on Sunday February 14th to start hunting on the morning of the 15thAt this point [redacted] had confirmed the hunting location as Jourdanton, TX and also told me lodging would be included in the huntI confirmed in writing we planned to stay at the ranch on the nights of Feb 14, 15, & 16.On February 6th, I texted [redacted] for the address of the ranch in JourdantonOn February 8th, not having received a reply, I sent another text asking for directions when we arrived on Sunday nighthours later on February 9th I sent a third text nearly begging for a reply and address for our arrivalLater that evening (three days after the first request) [redacted] told me he was moving us to Refugio where he “located some javelina.” He said we would meet at the local Dairy Queen in Woodsboro and to call when we arrived.I had planned on them hunting a ranch in Jourdanton, but I gained access to a ranch near Refugio so I planned on hunting them there insteadIf I am not mistaken, they would have had to provide their own lodging in JourdantonIn Refugio the lodging is included so I thought they would like that more and it would save them some $We arrived at San Antonio airport and I texted [redacted] at 3pm on Sunday February 14th to let him know we were on the wayHe replied asking if we were coming in “today or tomorrow?” “Tomorrow is what I have you down for.” Turned out [redacted] had the flu so he referred us to [redacted] (another guide from STXHO)I was sick with the flu and did not have my book on me when he texted meI did not want to wait too long to respond to him because I would have been nervous flying somewhere and not hearing from the outfitter after texting him when I arrived, so I asked him the question because I knew he would know the answer! [redacted] was not available to meet us Sunday eitherSo the ranch hand, [redacted] came out to meet us and bring us back to the lodgeWe arrived to a filthy lodge with no bedding on the beds (other than the dirty linens left from the prior hunting group.) Obviously we were not expected [redacted] was very pleasant and did his best to help us get settledI think filthy is exaggeratedThere was bedding and sheets on all of the bedsYou guys on the board can believe what you wantI knew all was lost when [redacted] asked us “Y’all ready to hunt some hogs tomorrow?” and I replied, “Nope, we are here for the Javelina!” at which point [redacted] deadpan informed me “We don’t have any javelina on this ranchWe have lots of hogs though!” Imagine my disappointment having booked a hunt for my father and son for Javelina and being told “We ain’t got none here,” on arrival[redacted] was a new guide to this ranchWe hah hog hunters on the ranch prior to that point so he expected them to be hunting hogsHe had never spent time on the pasture that [redacted] was going to be hunting so of course he would say that there are no javelinaSure enough, neither sightings of hogs nor javelina the first morningWhen [redacted] arrived he was a very professional guide who also said “Javelina are very rare in these parts.” Tuesday afternoon the camp manager, [redacted] arrived and confirmed once again that “Javelina are just not found this far northWhy don’t you just enjoy hunting hogs?” We were then rushed out after lunch on the last day to make room for the next group of huntersWho knew a three day hunt didn’t include the last afternoon? Before [redacted] booked the hunt I informed him his hunt ended on the morning of his 3rd dayNo one rushed him out, thats exaggerated [redacted] also did not tell him thatJust because you don't see the game you are hunting does not mean they aren't there? At the end of our trip my father, son, and I spent some quality time together hunting for hogs (none of us harvested one.) However, I could have done that near my father’s home in Florida as we have done in the past for far less expense that this trip [redacted] mislead me about the possibility of finding Javelina on his property and conned me out of the expense for the trip, flights, meals, and hotel room for the night before our flight outI don't believe I conned anyone out of anythingI don't believe I misled anyone either

First off I would like to tell my side of the story. I see that the complaint is noted as an advertising issueI do not know how that could be the case, since all of my services are advertised as is. I recall that Mr*** booked a hunt with me along with other members of
his groupThe issue that he had was that they were hunting a high fence ranch instead of a low fence ranchAt the time of arrival on the hunt he did not call me or attempt to bring this to my attentionMy guides informed me that he was disgruntled and I took it upon myself to call Mr*** to understand his concernsHe informed me that he did not wish to hunt a high fence ranch, I told him that due to certain circumstances the ranch that he was hunting was the only ranch that was availableWe worked everything out and he agreed to hunt that propertyI could have very easily given him his money back but after traveling, planning, and spending time on this hunt I did not want to do thatThe senseable thing to do was to work out the differences and hunt on the property that the was onI informed him that the ranch was well taken care of and properly managed, it was not going to be a "canned hunt" He agreed to try it out and I told him if they had ANY more questions, problems, or concerns to give me a call. I did not hear from them again while they were on the huntI checked in with my guides periodically and they informed me that everything was going fine. After the hunt I received a long email with a list of complaints form Mr***I did respond to him saying that I would address the issues but that I was busy and he needed to give me some timeHe did not mention taking this issue to the Revdex.com, which is fine with meHe also did not mention or call to discuss a refund while he was huntingI never heard a word form Mr*** until he was done hunting. I did not and I will not ever make any guarantees that a hunter will be successful in the form of harvesting an animalAll I can do as an outfitter is try my best and those who represent me may try their best also to make the hunt successful by harvesting an animalThere were members of the group that had shot opportunities on various animals during their huntThere are several factors that go into play when you are hunting, the main point to focus on is that the animals are WILD, there are no guarantees in huntingI provided Mr*** and his group with my time, the use of my ranch, and the opportunity to harvest the animals that he allotted for when he booked the huntAs far as I am concerned my job was done. I will not be responding or commenting on this subject any further. Thank You,
This guy is a nutI offered a complimentary trip after his complaintsWe have a management plan to follow, we choose which deer to harvest based on genetics and potentialIt was explained to him that this was a low fence, free range hunt and there are no guaranteesHe was unsuccessful not due to
lack of effort from my guidesOther outfitters need to beware before booking a hunt with this man.

I am rejecting this response because: The outfitters claim that he provided all services promised is false. The hunt and accomodatioins were not what I was promised when the hunt was booked and he took my $down payment. This was the first I ever heard of a possible refund. The ranch was a dump, not what was advertised on his website. As stated earlier, the outfitters communication skills leave alot to be desired, I feel that when I send a complaint, and he responds that he will address it, that months plus is plenty of time for him to respond. Maybe if he is in fact that busy he should hire some help so that he can actually provide the services that he promises!?

I am rejecting this response because: The owner, ***, was not even present for my hunt so he cannot say first hand anything about that weekI maintain my position that the hunt should not have been scheduled on that property and the ranch was not prepared to host us for that huntThe details are in my account of the event

I did turn down the offer to return to hunt in South Texas in June when I was told by *** that was my only option (and he said he was told to say that - happy to send a copy of that text also)The original hunt was in February and it was hot enough thenI can't imagine sitting in a steel box blind in June in Texas!I told *** to offer a hunt in June because that was my soonest open dateIf you did not want to hunt in June why didn't you ask for another date? Maybe in the Fall when it is cooler and more comfortable for your father? I have those same texts and I can send them also. If anyone wants further details, copies of the emails or texts, feel free to PM or email meI filed a complaint with the Revdex.com as well requesting a refund.Same offer from me, I have email and texts and I am happy to give my guides phone numbers for anyone that wants to ask them questionsI am currently disputing this with the Revdex.com on my endIf you wanted a refund you should have called me while you were on the hunt, not months laterI think I have the email from you where threatened me that you would do what you are doing now if I did not make the situation rightI tried to make it right but you declined. *** and his team might very well be great people, but I have great difficulty justifying spending thousands of dollars on travel and vacation time again to try and coordinate a hunt with them again.
We try to be good people and do the right thing alwaysIf you wish to decline that is your choice, but the effort has been madeI can keep going back and forth with you, and soon all the trolls on this forum will be chiming in their cents but I just don't have the time to play gamesI have done my best to make it right and my offer still stands. We all know every story has sidesI was told a long time ago by a very distinguished quail hunting guide that you cannot keep everyone happy and you will have complainers, in todays time I see that in a lot of casesMost situations come down to the hunter being a ignorant or over expectations ( I am in no way directing that towards ***) but if you do your best to control the factors that you can and treat others the way you would like to be treated then your doing the right thing. What this boils down to is a disgruntled hunter who thinks they got taken advantage of so by all means he's going to sit on the computer and trash the outfitter until he feels betterI have apologized and offered to make things right
I hunted the property near RefugioHere is my review of it.It took me a while to write this review as I was attempting to work something out with the guide service to resolve the problems I encounteredAs a consolation I was offered a follow up hunt for one person in Freer Texas in JuneThis is a
long write up, so get some popcorn and read onThe short version is to avoid this outfitter like the black plague.I started communicating with *** *** in September of attempting to book a Javelina hunt for my Father, my Son, and meWe have hunted feral hogs several times and very specifically wanted to book a Javelina huntThis was made clear in several emails back and forth with the owner, *** ***I had to correct his reference to a “Hog hunt” multiple times and remind him we wanted to hunt Javelina, or not go at all.Once I confirmed the dates of Feb 15-for the three of us, the communication problems continuedEmails went unanswered for days, despite multiple re-sends from meFinally as we neared the hunting dates, I needed to confirm the location of the actual ranch with ***The first request for this information went out in December and I had to follow up in January to get a response, which ultimately changed again two weeks before the hunt.Yes, email did go unanswered for daysI will admit that- when your running several ranches daylight till dark during the middle of deer season it is hard to respond with awayI apologized to *** about that and he was ok with it, AT THE TIMEWhen booking the hunt I informed him that I would reach out to hunt before the hunt, and that is exactly what I did. I sent a final pre-hunt email to *** on February 3rd, confirming our arrival on Sunday February 14th to start hunting on the morning of the 15thAt this point *** had confirmed the hunting location as Jourdanton, TX and also told me lodging would be included in the huntI confirmed in writing we planned to stay at the ranch on the nights of Feb 14, 15, & 16.On February 6th, I texted *** for the address of the ranch in JourdantonOn February 8th, not having received a reply, I sent another text asking for directions when we arrived on Sunday nighthours later on February 9th I sent a third text nearly begging for a reply and address for our arrivalLater that evening (three days after the first request) *** told me he was moving us to Refugio where he “located some javelina.” He said we would meet at the local Dairy Queen in Woodsboro and to call when we arrived.I had planned on them hunting a ranch in Jourdanton, but I gained access to a ranch near Refugio so I planned on hunting them there insteadIf I am not mistaken, they would have had to provide their own lodging in JourdantonIn Refugio the lodging is included so I thought they would like that more and it would save them some $. We arrived at San Antonio airport and I texted *** at 3pm on Sunday February 14th to let him know we were on the wayHe replied asking if we were coming in “today or tomorrow?” “Tomorrow is what I have you down for.” Turned out *** *** had the flu so he referred us to *** *** (another guide from STXHO). I was sick with the flu and did not have my book on me when he texted meI did not want to wait too long to respond to him because I would have been nervous flying somewhere and not hearing from the outfitter after texting him when I arrived, so I asked him the question because I knew he would know the answer!*** *** was not available to meet us Sunday eitherSo the ranch hand, *** came out to meet us and bring us back to the lodgeWe arrived to a filthy lodge with no bedding on the beds (other than the dirty linens left from the prior hunting group.) Obviously we were not expected*** was very pleasant and did his best to help us get settled. I think filthy is exaggeratedThere was bedding and sheets on all of the bedsYou guys on the board can believe what you want. I knew all was lost when *** asked us “Y’all ready to hunt some hogs tomorrow?” and I replied, “Nope, we are here for the Javelina!” at which point *** deadpan informed me “We don’t have any javelina on this ranchWe have lots of hogs though!” Imagine my disappointment having booked a hunt for my father and son for Javelina and being told “We ain’t got none here,” on arrival.*** was a new guide to this ranchWe hah hog hunters on the ranch prior to that point so he expected them to be hunting hogsHe had never spent time on the pasture that *** was going to be hunting so of course he would say that there are no javelina. Sure enough, neither sightings of hogs nor javelina the first morningWhen *** *** arrived he was a very professional guide who also said “Javelina are very rare in these parts.” Tuesday afternoon the camp manager, *** *** arrived and confirmed once again that “Javelina are just not found this far northWhy don’t you just enjoy hunting hogs?” We were then rushed out after lunch on the last day to make room for the next group of huntersWho knew a three day hunt didn’t include the last afternoon? Before *** booked the hunt I informed him his hunt ended on the morning of his 3rd dayNo one rushed him out, thats exaggerated*** also did not tell him thatJust because you don't see the game you are hunting does not mean they aren't there? At the end of our trip my father, son, and I spent some quality time together hunting for hogs (none of us harvested one.) However, I could have done that near my father’s home in Florida as we have done in the past for far less expense that this trip*** *** mislead me about the possibility of finding Javelina on his property and conned me out of the expense for the trip, flights, meals, and hotel room for the night before our flight out. I don't believe I conned anyone out of anythingI don't believe I misled anyone either.
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The owner, ***, was not even present for my hunt so he cannot say first hand anything about that weekI maintain my position that the hunt should not have been scheduled on that property and the ranch was not prepared to host us for that huntThe details are in my account of the event

First off I would like to tell my side of the story. I see that the complaint is noted as an advertising issue. I do not know how that could be the case, since all of my services are advertised as is. I recall that Mr. [redacted] booked a hunt with...
me along with other members of his group. The issue that he had was that they were hunting a high fence ranch instead of a low fence ranch. At the time of arrival on the hunt he did not call me or attempt to bring this to my attention. My guides informed me that he was disgruntled and I took it upon myself to call Mr. [redacted] to understand his concerns. He informed me that he did not wish to hunt a high fence ranch, I told him that due to certain circumstances the ranch that he was hunting was the only ranch that was available. We worked everything out and he agreed to hunt that property. I could have very easily given him his money back but after traveling, planning, and spending time on this hunt I did not want to do that. The senseable thing to do was to work out the differences and hunt on the property that the was on. I informed him that the ranch was well taken care of and properly managed, it was not going to be a "canned hunt" . He agreed to try it out and I told him if they had ANY more questions, problems, or concerns to give me a call. I did not hear from them again while they were on the hunt. I checked in with my guides periodically and they informed me that everything was going fine. After the hunt I received a long email with a list of complaints form Mr. [redacted]. I did respond to him saying that I would address the issues but that I was busy and he needed to give me some time. He did not mention taking this issue to the Revdex.com, which is fine with me. He also did not mention or call to discuss a refund while he was hunting. I never heard a word form Mr. [redacted] until he was done hunting. I did not and I will not ever make any guarantees that a hunter will be successful in the form of harvesting an animal. All I can do as an outfitter is try my best and those who represent me may try their best also to make the hunt successful by harvesting an animal. There were members of the group that had shot opportunities on various animals during their hunt. There are several factors that go into play when you are hunting, the main point to focus on is that the animals are WILD, there are no guarantees in hunting. I provided Mr. [redacted] and his group with my time, the use of my ranch, and the opportunity to harvest the animals that he allotted for when he booked the hunt. As far as I am concerned my job was done. I will not be responding or commenting on this subject any further. Thank You,

I am rejecting this response because:
It is inaccurate on several counts.
There was NOT bedding on the beds. I slept with my jacket rolled up as a pillow on a towel laid out on the mattress. This guy is a nut. I offered a complimentary trip after his complaints. We have a management plan to follow, we choose which deer to harvest based on genetics and potential. It was explained to him that this was a low fence, free range hunt and there are no guarantees. He was unsuccessful not due to...
lack of effort from my guides. Other outfitters need to beware before booking a hunt with this man.
