I have always been a customer of Sound World since I was 20 yrs old. My father and my sister are customers as well and they have always given great service. I have to say, I am shocked and appalled at the level of disrespect I was given. I went in and simply asked "Do you support local benefits?" The gentleman referred me to the other man standing at the counter. He looked at me and said "NO!" but then he smiled. (I seriously thought he was joking because this happened at another local business over the weekend, but that owner was joking and he donated a bag of product.) Then he said, "I don't want to waste too much of your time, just one second, I'll be right back." He goes into the other room, and proceeds to put one of those "easy" buttons that Staples uses, except this one had a big NO! on it. Then he proceeds to press it 3 or 4 times in which it tells me 3 or 4 different ways of saying no. I thought in my head, is this guy still joking? No one could be this rude.
Then he proceeds to say "You wouldn't believe how many of these we get, so I picked one up at the bookstore this this weekend. I thought this would be perfect." and then keeps laughing. It was then that I finally realized he was serious and he did in fact waste my time. This owner didn't even let me tell him that it was for my 4 month old nephew that was flown to Boston for open heart surgery at 2 months old.
Now, I know that not all businesses can support charities and benefits, but the level of disrespect to one of his customers was completely out of line. If he would have simply said, "No, I'm sorry we don't give donations." I would have been fine. I have had a ton of places that said they were sorry, but they couldn't do anything. So, people telling me no, doesn't bother me. The way the owner represented his business in such a demeaning way was uncalled for and deserves to have people hear what he says to potential customers walking in the door.
