Due to the unforeseen outbreak of the CoronaVirus, our wedding has been postponed until the summer of 2021; the initial wedding date was July 22,2020. When we discussed the change in date with Dan, he was willing to perform the work for the new date, however expected to be paid in full by June 22, 2020-over a year before services would be rendered. We offered to pay 25% of the remaining balance now and the remainder 30 days prior to the new wedding date- a reasonable accommodation on both ends to ensure protection of both parties. We were open to additional forms of negotiation, regarding payment, however Dan offered none and insisted to be paid in full. It soon became clear Dan was unwilling to come to an agreement, and my fiancé and I terminated the contract. Within minutes of the termination, Dan sent another email stating he would be able to be more flexible as our wedding date fell on a weekday. The poor manner in which the situation was handled up to that point was extremely off putting, thus we did not accept his offer to continue business. Dan attempted to diminish the situation by stating the contract does not allow for any change of date, and he was allowing us to reschedule out of courtesy. That was clearly understood, however the contract did not account for a pandemic to strike and impact businesses and customers as it has. The unfortunate experience clearly demonstrates Dan's inability to be sympathetic and reasonable during such a chaotic situation. Should you book services with Sound Originals, be aware of the lack of flexibility the company has even when the situation is beyond anyone's control.
We are sorry this individual is so disappointed. Sound Originals is proud to have some of the best reviews in the Pacific Northwest, and to our knowledge, this is the only time we have ever received a complaint of this nature. We are proud to have more than 70 excellent reviews on WeddingWire from thrilled clients. The information in the complaint is inaccurate. We offered a very generous rescheduling policy, just as we did with every other couple who has decided to postpone their wedding due to COVID-19. We even offered to refer other service providers who could offer a very generous discount because we want to help this individual. In all other cases, the couples were thrilled with our offer, which included free rescheduling, generous payment plans, and in some cases, free services to help our clients during the difficult time. Our clients are everything to us! Unfortunately, this individual made unfair or unrealistic demands, and followed up with online reviews and statements that are simply not true and appear designed to harm our reputation because the individual didn't get what she wanted. While we are very sorry this individual is disappointed, the complaint is meritless.

I am rejecting this response because:
Sound Originals is falsely claiming that information provided within the complaint is inaccurate. Everything reported within the complaint is true and factual. The rescheduling policy offered by the company was full payment of service as of June 22, 2020 (30 days prior to the initial wedding date) for photography services to be rendered in the summer of 2021. As customers, we attempted to negotiate a portion of the payment at the time of rescheduling, and the remainder 30 days prior to the new wedding date to ensure protection of all parties. The company was not generous with their rescheduling policy, nor with their payment plan after we determined it was necessary to reschedule. Rather, we were only given one option--pay the full amount for the services by June 22,2020, or the arrangement could be canceled per the contract. There were never unfair or unrealistic demands made in any regard. Sound Originals was not willing to negotiate and never offered additional payment plans. Upon termination of the contract on our end, the company immediately attempted to renegotiate, which we denied. Additionally, Sound Originals did notify us of one service provider who could provide photography services for our wedding at a discounted rate. The outreach to the service provider was unasked for on our part, as we had no longer been corresponding with the owner of Sound Originals. Furthermore, we had notified the company twice of their permanent release of responsibility and liability of our wedding long before Dan offered the services from a different photographer, which we will not accept. As previously mentioned, information within the reviews briefly recounted our unfortunate experience with the Sound Originals. All information was presented in a factual and true manner. The reviews were not designed to harm the company’s reputation, but to give potential customers insight to our experience and allow them to make an educated decision. The reviews and reports were not created as a result of not getting what was wanted, as Sound Originals claims. As stated before Sound Originals had been notified twice of their termination, in which they continued to contact us. The reviews and reports only highlighted the manner in which the situation was handled. Despite the lack of response from our end, the company continues to contact us with harassing emails regarding legal action.
