My husband and I purchased our first home in 2014 from Spartan Investment Company. At the time of our purchase, we had two small children. We were very excited about purchasing our new home. It was scary at first because they call our area âtornado valleyâ However, we prayed about it and put in an offer. This was our dream home. The home was not too from work, quiet, and neighbors very respectful and friendly. Well here is the real reason for my review on this company I hope youâre ready.
We moved into our home, it was freezing cold and the gas was not on. Well when we ran the water into the kitchen sink, the water was coming through the pipes. Well yes, I know what youâre thinking. Itâs not their fault your pipes. Mind you we had a home inspection three or maybe a week prior to moving into our home. According to the inspector âeverything was in top shape with the plumbingâ. The house was sitting up and the pipes werenât being used. The weather, it has been cold etc. Those are excuse. Okay I got it. So we called a plumber out. Then we noticed when it rained, it sounded like the rain we coming into our home. I wasn't sure at the time, were the rain was coming I could just hear it.
Finally one day home alone. I began to rain. I turned everything off to see if I would notice the noise. Indeed I did. It was coming from the porch and garage. It was a mess⦠in my panic voice. I looked on the porch and noticed it was raining on my porch. Not only was it raining on my porch. the rain was coming into the garage from the basement. I freaked out. I phoned Spartan company and spoke with a female employeeâ¦.. I will leave her name out. However, I told her who I was, the property address and the issues we were experiencing just to see if they had noticed any of the issues when remodeling the home. Well of course, itâs a business and she was going to say ânoâ. Her response was âI will ask my contractor and will give you a call back. I never heard from her of course. Patiently waiting and waiting. I know they were busy working on properties. Three weeks passed by and still no call back from this female employee. I phoned her again and reminded her of our conversation. According to this employee âher contractor did not notice anything when completing work on the home.â I took her word for. Probably not. I reached out to my realtor. He actually had the contractor number. Then, I remember before closing on my home.
My realtor and I noticed in the basement, it appeared someone painted over the wall with sealant. While standing in the basement, my realtor phone the contactor and asked if someone had done so. âAgain this company is full of bologna he said ânoâ. When asked about this they had no knowledge of such. Well I reached out to the contractor myself. You guessed right. He never called back. Well moving on, our family grew. I forgot. Well not so much. We start having other issues such as rats. YES, I said RATS!!!! Porch leaking badly, tub not draining, flowers dying, need a snake to unclogged lines in the basement for the tub, lights fixture blow every time we replace them (major disaster). I contacted a foundation specialist, due to noticing water coming through my bricks in the basement. Oh my GOD, this guy almost made me go into labor with the price to fix the water issue. Well he stated I needed to water proof my home. 2015 approaches. I am having issues with my septic backing up in my yard. Called some one out and was told my field lines are exposed and itâs because of a live line. According to my paperwork my septic tank was pumped and some repairs completed in 2014. Yes, the home was remodel beautifully. As advertise âit would make HGTV proudâ. No, I have spent more money in this house then living in it. I have used my warrant company more times, then I have used my dish washer. Every time I think of a solution, I am told it would be hard to prove this company had knowledge of any of these issues. Well when remodeling, did you notice the beams in the base would be need to hold the basement part up? Isnât that why you put them there? Did you really not know there was water coming through the basement? The home set on the market for a while. Oh, your realtor also had to show the home? Yea, hard to prove huh? Why did the home sit on the market for a while? For a dummy like me to purchase from a company that only make their homes pretty and leave it up to the consumers to spend their hard earn money to fix it up. I guess thatâs the âbeauty of buying a home that would make HGTV proudâ. Do not purchase a home from company that mainly focus on beauty and structure.
