Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Regards, [redacted] APPARENTLY MY POINT IN THE MATTER WAS NOT CLEAR ENOUGHI WENT IN THE STORE WITH A WATCH THAT WAS IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION AND ONLY NEEDED A SECOND HAND SET BACK IN IT.I THEN WAS HANDED BACK MY WATCH AFTER THE SECOND HAND WAS REPAIRED AND SAW IT WAS NO LONGER WORKING! I WILL NO LONGER BE REJECTING MESSAGE AFTER MESSAGE IN THIS MATTERI WILL HOWEVER BE FILING A CIVIL LAWSUIT AGAINST SOLITAIRE JEWELRY IN THE LOCAL MAGISTRATE COURT TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER ONCE AND FOR ALL
I WOULD LIKE TO RESPOND TO THE COMPLAINT FROM MR***MR*** BROUGHT IN HIS OLDER STAINLESS STEEL WITTNAUER CHRONOGRAPH WITH ONE OF THE SECOND HANDS THAT WAS NOT IN PLACE. (CHRONOGRAPH IS A WATCH WITH A STOP WATCH THAT RUNS INDEPENDENTLY FROM THE WATCH). HE REQUESTED THAT THE
SECOND HAND BE PUT BACK ON. WE GAVE IT TO OUR WATCHMAKER, WHO HAS BEEN REPAIRING WATCHES FOR OVER FIFTY YEARS. UPON OPENING THE WATCH, WHICH WAS NECESSARY TO PUT THE HAND BACK ON, HE STATED THAT THE WATCH NEEDED CLEANING AND OVERHAUL AT A PRICE OF $THIS IS A MECHANICAL WATCH THAT USES OIL TO LUBRICATE THE MOVING PARTS, AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WATCH IS NOT WORN, THE OIL GUMS UP AND KEEPS THE WATCH FROM RUNNING PROPERLY. WHEN WE RECIEVED THE WATCH, IT HAD NO WATCHBAND. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER TO ADVISE HIM OF THE WATCHMAKERS REPORT AND SAID HE DID NOT WANT THE WATCH REPAIRED, HE JUST WANTED THE HAND PUT BACK ON. THAT IS WHAT THE WATCHMAKER DID, HE PUT THE HAND BACK ON. WHEN WE WENT TO DELIVER THE WATCH TO MR***, HE STATED THAT THE WATCH WAS RUNNING AND SAID THAT THE SECOND HAND WAS MOVING WHEN HE BROUGHT IT IN. HE WAS REFERRING AND POINTING TO THE CENTER SECOND HAND , WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WATCH AS IT IS A PART OF THE CHRONOGRAPH. BUT I SHOOK THE WATCH AND SHOWED MR*** THAT THE CHRONOGRAPH SECOND HAND COULD BE MOVING IF THE START BUTTON WAS INITIATED AND THAT THE WATCH WAS SHAKEN A LITTLE. AGAIN, AT NO TIME DOES THIS MEAN THAT THE WATCH IS RUNNING. I ALSO FEEL THAT MR*** IS MISTAKEN ON THE VALUE OF THE WATCH. MY SEARCHES ON EBAY LIST A WATCH SIMILAR TO HIS AT $TO $IN GOOD WORKING ORDER, WITH A BAND AND GOOD CONDITION. WE FEEL THAT WE DELIVERED VERY COMPETENT SERVICE, FROM A PROFESSIONAL WATCHMAKER THAT IS AWARE OF HOW A CHRONOGRAPH WORKS AND IS VERY AWARE OF WHAT THE CONDITION OF THE WATCH IS. THE REQUEST BY MR*** TO ONLY PUT THE SECOND HAND ON WAS DONE BY HIS REQUEST AND AGAINST THE ADVISE OF THE WATCHMAKER. WATCH SERVICE IS A VERY DIFFICULT BUSINESS, BUT WE ARE VERY QUALIFIED AND CAN COMPLETE THE TASK AS WE REPAIR HUNDREDS OF WATCHES EVERY YEAR. ALTHOUGH I FEEL THAT MR*** IS NOT WELL INFORMED ON THE WORKINGS OF THE WATCH, OR THE VALUE, OUR BUSINESS IS INTERESTED IN TRYING TO AT LEAST PLEASE OUR CUSTOMERS, KNOWLEDGABLE OR NOT. I PROPOSE TO DO THE FOLLOWING. 1. I WILL REPAIR MR***'S WATCH WITH A CLEANING AND OVERHAUL JOB THAT INCLUDES TIMING TO PUT IT IN RUNNING ORDER. I WILL NOT HOWEVER ACCEPT THE WATCH WITH A VALUE OF MORE THAN $WHILE IT IS IN OUR SHOP. 2. I WILL PAY $FOR MR*** TO HAVE ANOTHER REPUTABLE WATCHMAKER SERVICE HIS WATCH PROVIDED THAT WE HAVE A RECIEPT OF THE SERVICES. I AWAIT YOUR RESPONSE
IF MR*** CONCERN IS TO HAVE IS WATCH REPAIRED, I HAVE OFFERED TWO WAYS TO ACCOMPLISH THAT. ASIDE FROM ALL THE RETORIC AND INUENDOS BY MR***, MY GOAL IS TO TAKE CARE OF WHAT THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO MR***.1. WE WILL REPAIR AT NO CHARGE HIS WATCH. WHEN IN OUR POSSESION, WE CAN ONLY PLACE A VALAUE OF $8OO.OO ON THE WATCH UNLESS MR*** HAS AN APPRAISAL STATING DIFFERENTWE VALUE ALL ITEMS LEFT FOR REPAIR AT OUR BUSINESSUNLESS THE CUSTOMER STATE DIFFERENTLY AND WE AGREE, OTHERWISE WE DONT TAKE IN FOR REPAIR2. WE WILL PAY $130.00, THE CHARGE THAT WE QUOTED MR*** TO HAVE HIS WATCH SERVICED, WITH A RECIEPT FROM THE WATCH BEING REPAIRED.BOTH SOLUTIONS WILL PUT MR*** WATCH IN BETTER CONDITION THAT IT WAS WHEN HE BROUGHT IT TO US. MR*** STATES THAT OUR OFFER IS NOT ENOUGH TO COVER THE REPAIR OF THE WATCH, YET WE HAVE NOT SEEN AN ESTIMATE FORREPAIR FROM ANOTHER WATCHMAKERAFTER DISCUSSION WITH OUR COUNCIL, THESE OFFERS ARE GENEROUS AND IN GOOD FAITH. ANY OFFER ACCEPTED FROM MR*** MUST COME WITH AN AGREEMENT OF SATISFACTION OF THE PROBLEM

Regards,
[redacted]AS I STATED BEFORE I TOOK MY WATCH IN WHICH WAS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT LOSING TIME OR SO CALLED GUMMING UP OF THE OIL INSIDE OF IT . THE WATCH WORKED PERFECTLY WITHOUT HAVING TO SHAKE IT AT ALL. WHEN I GOT THE WATCH BACK IT WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL UNLESS IT WAS SHOOK OR TAPPED VERY HARD THEN IT WOULD ONLY WORK FOR A FEW SECONDS TILL IT WAS SHOOK OR TAPPED AGAIN. I BELIEVE THAT MY WATCH WAS TAMPERED WITH IN ORDER TO OBTAIN MORE MONEY OUT ME FOR REPAIRS THAT WERE UNNECESSARY. AS I TOLD THEM FROM THE 1ST TIME I WENT IN THE STORE AND SPOKE WITH HIM IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE WATCH AND THE VALUE OF THE WATCH IT UPWARDS OF $4,500 USED. I SEEN OTHER WATCHES AS HE STATED IN HIS MESSAGE THAT ARE SIMILAR TO MINE BUT NOT THE SAME MODEL AS MINE AND YES THOSE IN FACT DID HAVE A STARTING BID ON E-BAY AT $300 TO $800. I ALSO LET THEM KNOW WHEN I HANDED OVER THE WATCH FOR REPAIR THAT IS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE WATCH VALUED AT OVER $4,500 AND TO PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT BECAUSE IT HAD BELONGED TO MY LATE GRANDFATHER SO IT ALSO HOLDS A VERY HIGH SENTIMENTAL VALUE AS WELL, HE DID NOT STATE THAT THE VALUE WAS A CONCERN AS HE DID IN HIS RESPONSE. I HAVE LOOKED UP THE WATCH I HAVE ONLINE AND FOUND OUT IT IS A VERY, VERY RARE WATCH I FOUND ONLY TO OTHERS OF THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL AS MINE. THEY ARE VALUED AT $4,500 AND ONE AT $2,900 FOR A NON WORKING POOR CONDITION ONE. MINE DID NOT HAVE A WATCH BAND AT THE TIME I TOOK IT IN TO BE REPAIRED BUT NOW IT DOES. I AM VERY AWARE OF THE WORKING OF MY WATCH AND UNDERSTAND HOW IT OPERATES AND I DO BELIEVE THAT MY WATCH WAS SABOTAGED IN ORDER TO TURN A LARGER PROFIT. I WAS ALSO INFORMED BY ANOTHER JEWELER IN TOWN THAT THE WATCHMAKER THAT WORKED ON MY WATCH IS 82 YEARS OLD AND WORKS OUT OF HIS HOME SO MAYBE IT MIGHT OF GOT DIRT OR DAMAGED WHILE IT WAS IN REPAIR AT HIS HOME. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE $100 OFFER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WILL BE SUFFICIENT TO COVER THE DAMAGES DONE TO THE WATCH. THEY WERE WANTING TO CHARGE $130 FOR AN OVERHAUL. IF THIS IS NOT RESOLVED SOON I WILL BE TAKING LEGAL ACTION IN CIVIL COURT.
