On Sept. 19, 2017 I went to Soapy Joe's on ***. to have my *** washed. I have been there many times. Up to now, it has been a great place to get my car cleaned. As usual I paid, the employee directed in. I placed my car in neutral, the car started to move, then all of a sudden it launched forward and kept going. None of the car washing devices started up. I put my foot on the brake, and the attendant was on the passenger side, then he walked away. I took my foot off the brake, a loud crunching sound happened, and my car kept going to the end. The sign said now put your car in drive. I did and drove out. The employee said the machine got stuck under my car, and my car was really messed up. They took my info, the manager *** called the next day and said it was my fault, because my car was in drive. I told him it absolutely was not. He said, thank you have a nice day and hung up. I wrote an incident report, and hand delivered it. Now *** is going to be out for a week according to some guy in the office. Contacted the National City Soapy Joe's and they said you have to talk to ***. Everyone I speak to is my age (20) I'm sure they don't have the experience necessary to take care of this. What is wrong with them, I think they are giving me a bunch of nonsense and are not going to take care of my car. I called the main office supposedly and another person who didn't know a thing. Now the ***. site says there is no report from their people. There would have been a report by them, but we don't have one. I don't know what to do.
On September 19th the customer, ***, visited our *** location for a wash. The customer was directed into the tunnel and shown our safety procedures: place your car in neutral, hands on the wheel and take your foot off the brake. Our video footage in the tunnel shows the customer did not place her vehicle in drive, causing her vehicle to launch forward, damage to her own vehicle and our machine’s pendulum. Had the customer followed our safety procedure, the incident would not of happened. The customer had been contacted by our Site Manager, *** and our District Manager, *** who both explained what happened and how the safety procedures were no followed by the driver (***). On behalf of Ms., we have spoke to *** and ***, who have all been explained the situation. Soapy Joe’s is not at fault for the damage, this claim and has been denied and closed. If needed, the customer’s insurance company or lawyer, may view the footage that shows the vehicle was in drive on September 19th and Soapy Joe’s ***- the car wash is not responsible for accidents that occur while the customer is operating the vehicle.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The first part of their statement is correct my car was not in drive as instructed. My car was in neutral. I didn't put my car in drive till the very end of the car wash. There was a car that went right in the car wash right after the incident. Their equipment is not broken. As for the video we asked if we could see the video and they refuse to let us see it.
