I have nothing but high praises for Smooth MovesThey did a phenomenal jobThey were quick and professional and very respectful of my possessions and my old home and new homeI highly recommend them to anyone considering them
What a great and needed service but unfortunately Lisa T. can not be trusted. She sold my mother's beautiful home and offered to do the move for free as she was the realtor. My son did move much of the large furniture so Smooth Moves moved smaller items and helped my ill mother move to an apartment. It was definitely a help for me as I live 3 hrs away.Lisa said she would sell, donate or dispose of the household items and would give my mom an itemized list of everything. After a few months my mom and I began calling and asking if anything had been sold. It was very frustrating as some days some things were sold and then the next conversation they were not. Eventually my mom got 2 small cheques for items sold. There was NO indication what was sold or for how much other than 2 expensive prints that were sent to Toronto for sale. I don't know what they actually sold for. Also she left a 7 piece white bedroom set ( sold wood and in perfect condition )with the house for the new owners. She said it wasn't worth anything. I recently have been in furniture stores and there are many white bedroom sets very similar for sale. I do have to wonder if it truly was " donated" to the new owners. My mom was very disappointed and frustrated to have to call Lisa to find out the status of her things. Unfortunately my mom passed away 6 months later. As I live out of town and had no one to help I called Lisa again and asked her to take my mom's belongings and sell them. She agreed and said it would cost $700.00 but since I was a previous customer it would be $100.00 less. I stayed at my mother's apartment for a few weeks until my mothers affairs were taken care of. I asked Lisa to empty the apartment the day after I left as I was using my mothers furniture. She agreed. I left her $500.00 as she asked to go towards the move. After several months I called the Smooth Move office during office hours and left msg about the sale of my mothers things. The msg were almost never returned. Lisa gave me another number to contact her by phone or txt. A few months passed and still no word. I tried her cell number and would leave msg with no response most of the time. She said that phone was not working. It did work well when I called and blocked my number. She would say things were sold then in the next conversation they were not. She said the move cost $1200.00 but she took $200.00 off for being a previous customer. Therefore it was $400.00 more than quoted. She said she wasn't allowed to see the apartment. She never once asked and there was no reason not to let her see it but she had been there before so I assumed she remember it. She told me she would send me a cheque for approx. $450.00 but never did. I blocked my number and called her again. She said I wouldn't give here my email address to transfer the funds to. She never once asked for my email address. She finally mailed me a cheque for $133.00 less than what she told me and made it out to me personally and not to my mother's estate. Each time I requested a list of what was sold but she would not let me know. She became upset with me and was very unprofessional. I guess I will never know what Lisa sold my mothers items for or what was actually sold. She has taken advantage of a sick elderly lady at a vulnerable time in her life then taken advantage of her family during a time of grief. I do have to wonder why she refused to give me a copy of items sold and for how much. She was made aware it was needed to settle the estate and it should have been given to me. [redacted]
