Dear Revdex.comI have been in business for 28yrs(3yrs as a driver) I have learned a lot of things to relay to customers when we move themI say the same thing to everyone in this respectWhen we arrive we start the clock. We will do parperwork We will do a walk through and load the truckwhen the truck
is loaded please do a walk through to make sure we did not forget anything. We will follow you to the new house and putyour things were you want themWhen the truck is unloaded and you (the customer) has done a walk through and made sure everything is done we will clock outIt did not happen quite like thatWhen we were done loading, *** notice we had put something on the truck he did not want to go so our driver said it was towards the back of the truck and he would take it off but *** said leave it.the men said on the way to the new house they would stop off to eat but *** said he would buy their lunchthey all went to the new house lst and *** told them where he wanted some of the items togo that were in the back of the truck. He went to get lunchThat took less than a half hrduring that time the men kept unloading the truckInstead of sitting and waiting for *** to get back they kept unloading. Some of the items were bed setsThey put the beds into the rooms they thought they would go back in.When *** got back with lunch he looked in the bedrooms and said they needed to be switchedSince theyhad not put the beds together it took less then 10min to switchduring the unload *** who should have been by the truck telling the men where he wanted things to go was either in the Kitchen, on his decksmoking pot or on the phoneBefore the job was done he kept asking the driver what the bill was but until we are done with the move we do not knowWhen the job was down to mostly things going into the basement *** was given a total and instead of having the money to pay us said he had to go to the bank .the men said he was gone for almost an hrThis part of the reason why the items are not all in the right placeI offered to have one of our movers come to his house to move boxes around for lhr for free but he declinedHe mentioned the work bench on his carportIt looked to be home madeThe top came offand was put into the basementThe frame would not make it into the basement so they left it on the carportIt would need to be taken apart to get down, so the men were waiting for a response form ***but he did not say anything to the men. The bench was in plain sight on the carportHe said we put pillows in a box with speaker standsand did not put and paper in a box with a mixerThe men who he is callingday labor is very rudeDave have been with me for 18yrsHector has been here for yrsJoseph (a driver) has been here for over a yearThey pack that way because they know how to load and unload so thatthere is no damageI have heard from other customers that there movers put garbage cans in boxes because they get paid for each box they fill..We saved him money on the packing and supplies and he is complaining Both Hector & Dave heve been on over jobs since we moved *** with people calling saying how great the guy were and one booking another move wanting Hector & Dave back,To sum it up if *** had let the guys get there own lunch, had the money on him as most people do and stayed with the men to tell them were things went we would not be having the conversation. We arenot perfect and that is why I offered one of our men to come over and move boxes for lhrYou can move a lot of boxes in one hr on site.Sincerely Greg

I am rejecting this response because:His response is mostly fabricated He was not at the job site I was planning on moving myself and hiring help with furniture I had packed 70% or so of my house I then broke my finger and had surgery Since I could not work (I am a surgeon) I asked a friend and real estate agent for a recommendation Someone in her office recommended Smooth Move People I am 59, have lived in states in my adult life and have moved house at least times with all of my training and then professional career As a college student I moved more professionally than than this crew by far I have used many moving companies and most experiences have been good I liked the crew and enjoy working with people Despite all of the errors I witnessed in loading and unloading, not knowing how many other things I would find when the next day when I was unpacking, I bought the crew lunch, tipped them $each and was going to use them for moving my belongings in a storage unit! When I relayed all of my concerns to greg his response was to blame me for not supervising men going through entrances I had not asked for a refund or anything just gave feedback His response was so unprofessional I couldn't let it go I then asked to have someone come out and move the misplaced boxes (since I cannot) to finish the work I paid for When I saw all the mistakes such as many large heavy boxes labeled in the basement I cannot move these with one hand and they were nearly marked for Kitchen, Living room, Master BR etcSmall furniture from my living room was in the basementSporting goods (bikes, camping gear, surfboards, kiteboarding gear) where put in the shop side of the basement when I clearly stated and repeated that they go in the large open part of the basement These guys could not follow directions.Keep in mind I was paying almost $and hour and was paying for all of their mistakes that I caught and had them correct. In response to Greg's email: He never mentioned a walk through during our only conversation which was when I scheduled the move His crew never mentioned a walk through It should not be the customer's responsibility I was exhausted after packing one handed and all going on I had no idea movers couldn't understand the concept of putting boxes where the label indicates. The truck was closed and moved to the street while I was paying Hector No one offered to let me see if it was empty I did ask if it was They left with a $kiteboarding kite in a brightly colored backpack Greg advised me to label things I didn't want moved (and there were many I planned to move later on my own) with a ponote He also advised me to transport lamps in my car as they would have to box lamp and shades I had planned to do so anyway I labeled the lamps with ponotes I advised the crew as they had never heard of Greg's ponote idea They immediately started loading items with post-its And it wasn't "at the back of the truck" when they were done loadingone was an inflatable 11' Stand up Paddle board I planned to deflate and transport on my own The fin was not attached and thankfully I found that in the truck I showed Hector how to deflate itI told them to leave the lamps no less than times They packed of lamps I paid for the time and materials Yes I offered to buy the crew lunch I ordered by phone and the place is a 5" drive If his crew is not capable of unloading without supervision for 20" something is wrong I don't think they should be sitting and waiting for meWe did walk thru the house and I explained the rooms and where to put things And then he says they put the beds together while I was at lunch? The master bedroom is obvious in both houses My son's room is obvious The beds should have gone to the same rooms! I didn't know I had to explain that I caught the mistake as they were finishing They damaged by wall moving the partly assembled bed base down tight steps since they did't want to disassemble it They then put my bed together wrong and blamed it on the carpet All were there and I had to show them they had the sideboards upside down This was no 10" mistake It was guys for at lest 30". So I should have been on the truck telling them where things go? I was moving house and had lots to do I assumed professional movers know that boxes labeled for rooms go there, beds go to the obvious and appropriate rooms These guys couldn't follow directions when repeated 2-times so being at the truck wouldn't help and wasn't my job No I didn't have cash on hand because I had no estimate He doesn't take credit cards I had my check book handy in the chaos of the move and realized I couldn't write legibly with my left hand I asked Hector for an estimate so I could get cash in route to the new house and he told me to wait I even offered to get $as that seemed to be more than I would need He kept telling me to waitHe only offered to have someone come back after I demanded it He offered hour "next week" I was planning in being moved in and possibly back to limited work "next week" He said any more time would cost me $15/hr To finish the job I had paid for The bench was taken apart by me for the move They had no trouble getting it out of my old house thru the same size doors and it will easily fit through the basement door off the driveway It wasn't in plain site It was at the far end of the carport with my grill in front of it If it was in plain site maybe they would have remembered to put it in the basement? They packed heavy steel speaker stands by using my nice sofa pillows as padding They packed a full waste basket yet left obvious items at the old house My $Vitamix blender was simply thrown in a box unprotected with other appliances and items It looked like an angry y/o did the packing There were plates and bowls without paper between them It was absolutely unacceptable packing and there is no defense for it Greg's response? "Nothing was broken so I guess it was OK" Thankfully I did most of the packing!I have attached the email stream between me and Greg so you can see his response
Sincerely,
