Hi Kyle, Thank you for getting back to me as this has been an issue since July and the issue is still unresolved In addition to purchasing the building and equipment you also received their clients, such as my family I did not pay DrE [redacted] directly nor did he own a sole-proprietorship After Smile Today purchased the dental office (and the existing practice) I was not notified, but more importantly I was seen twice by your staff who continued to provide me advice and instructions with my Clear Correct trays It wasn't until I was out of trays that you informed me you were not Orthodontics licensed and I would need to go elsewhere for new service Please see the attached email interaction with Sharon Gross who told your team was working with doctors so I didn't' have to pay out of pocket again (it starts from the bottom going up) I had replied to Sharon to get follow up but she did not return my emails or my voicemails, which I find extremely unprofessional I am expecting to either be refunded $or for your team to find a licensed Orthodonist who can finish correcting my teeth at no additional cost to me.Thank you
To whom it may concern:The previous dentist declared bankruptcy My team purchased the equipment and assumed the building lease via bankruptcy court There is no transfer of liabilities, credits, good will with this process DrE [redacted] is still a practicing dentist in the state of Arizona and I would recommend to reach out to the Arizona Dental Board to find out his location and reach out to him directly I am sorry for the financial loss DrE [redacted] 's bankruptcy has caused you Bests,Kyle H***
I sent this review to the office, which claims to respond to comments within hours, but received no response after more than a weekHere goes:
I've had weird experiences since I first went to Smile Today, mostly due to excessive, inappropriate-for-the-dentist's-office flirtiness by DrHuish, as well as a bedside manner that was more sales-y than empatheticI get really nervous going to dentists, and each visit I had here left me more stressed than before I even arrived
The first time, I had to be drilled for several cavities, even though I hadn't had any in more than yearsDrHuish told me he'd never seen such big indentations than the ones in my molars, and because of my teeth's shape, I could expect to have cavities every visit - not because I wasn't brushing correctly, but because of the shape of my teeth
I've been to see him several times since and haven't had a cavity again - oddI almost felt like I was being sold cavity correction the first time and that drilling was unnecessaryAs someone who experiences a ton of nervousness at the dentist, this definitely didn't put me at ease, and I got this same sales vibe each subsequent visit
Six months ago, I had to wait more than minutes in the waiting room, after leaving work early for my appointment, because they weren't ready for meI wanted to never come back, based on this lack of customer service and the uncomfortableness I'd already experienced on prior visits, but I decided to give them one more chance since they'd already become familiar with my teeth
I went again recently, which was my last time I'll be visiting Smile TodayThe hygienist, after telling me my teeth were all in great shape and had no cavities, insisted my enamel was wearing off and that I should consider buying a prescription toothpaste from them - "I'd do it if it was me," was how she tried to sell the toothpaste to meI thought it was odd this recommendation didn't come from a dentist (who I overheard telling another patient, "We're not a dentist office that is going to try to hard sell you a bunch of stuff" - if you even have to say that statement, something sounds fishy.)
DrHuish again made me uncomfortable during his less-than-five-minute visit with me, where he asked if I wear green pants because "they match my pretty green eyes," and touched my arm and leg, which I didn't think was appropriate - but that was consistent with other times I've met with him
When the X-ray technician was setting me up for my next appointment in six months, I asked for the latest available appointment because I have to commute from ChandlerShe asked if p.mwas OK, and when I replied, "If that's the latest possible, yes," she said, "Well, we can do 4:30, but we like to leave by to beat the traffic." What?!
I called to cancel it, and the receptionist I'll never see again didn't bother to ask why I will not be a Smile Today patient in the futureI know if I was losing customers, I'd love to know why to improve on future experiences
Smile Today incentivizes patients to check in and review them on social media in exchange for credit, which, I guess they can use to buy prescription toothpaste they may not even needThis isn't the type of review I like to leave, though, and it probably wasn't the quick five-star rating they would have liked from a patient just looking for a dentist credit
At this point we’re not able to confirm that this is a patient of record and will not be able to respond appropriately without a signed HIPAA form
I can tell you the assets of the practice were acquired out of bankruptcy and there was no obligation to patients of record for refunds due them. They would need to reach out to the bankruptcy court, which was out of Florida and all bankruptcy matters have been discharged. I believe they notified anyone who would have been a creditor and if *** was owed a refund, she would have been notified
Clear Correct trays are treatment options a General Dentist and Orthodontist can prescribe for patients. DrE*** was a general dentist from what the board shows. If DrE*** was the doctor who prescribed the treatment she will need to reach out to him as he is responsible for her treatment
We suggest that this complaint be closed and not associated with Smile Today
If I can be of further assistance please let me know
Regards

I am so sorry to hear about this patients experience, and have coached my front office staff to make sure something like this never happens againWe have sent a check in the amount of to the patient, and are going to call her to make sure she contacts the manager if this ever happens again
Unfortunately, we have had a change of staff and nothing had been communicated to myself or the managerThank you for the opportunity to make this patient happy
I scheduled an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out for a Friday, to minimize the amount of time I'd have to take off of workI postponed a national research study for the following week so I could make this appointment, I took a sick day off of work, I made my husband take a sick day off of work, and I cleared my schedule for the weekend to recover from the wisdom teeth extraction
I called that Thursday (the apptwas scheduled for a Friday) to find out what to expect, because no one had given me any information about what I should or shouldn't do to prepareNo one had explained how it would work or what to expectNo one had explained if I should do anything before the procedure, or what I should do afterSo I called and was told there would be a different dentist performing the wisdom teeth extractionShe asked if that was ok and I consented
When I arrived the next morning, I was told that the person working that day was not comfortable with wisdom teeth extractions and that they had only just found outExcept, Smile Today knew that someone else would be filling in that Friday - I know this because I had to call on Thursday to get more information, because Smile Today failed to give me any idea of what to expect - and no one thought it important to give me a call and let me know that this procedure wouldn't be happening at all
I am extremely upset about the blatant disregard for my timeThe receptionists were extremely rude and gave us attitude when I inquired as to why no one thought to call and let me know that this procedure wouldn't be happeningI have actually never had a good experience with the morning receptionists in the three times I have visited the officeI filled out a positive review the last time I visited the office, and now I'm wishing I hadn'tI actually cannot believe this happened, and no one acted as if it were a problemIn fact, the receptionists acted as if it was no big deal
We will not be returning to Smile Today, and I certainly will not recommend this dentist to anyoneWhat we experienced was the worst customer service and extreme disregard for their patients' timeWhat's worse: the receptionists will treat you like you are a nuisance, and no one will bother to apologize for wasting your time

Hi Kyle,
Thank you for getting back to me as this has been an issue since July 2016 and the issue is still unresolved. I am expecting to either be refunded $2500 or for your team to find a licensed Orthodonist who can finish correcting my teeth at no additional cost to me.Thank you.
To whom it may concern:
The previous dentist declared bankruptcy. My team purchased the equipment and assumed the building lease via bankruptcy court. There is no transfer of liabilities, credits, good will with this process. Dr. E[redacted] is still a practicing dentist in...
the state of Arizona and I would recommend to reach out to the Arizona Dental Board to find out his location and reach out to him directly. I am sorry for the financial loss Dr. E[redacted]'s bankruptcy has caused you.
Bests,
Kyle H[redacted]
