Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
1) The contract with Smart Remodeling (SR) was not as this letter says to provide blueprints, but to convert our garage, by April
2) After submitting plans in Dec to *** *** (**), SR did not respond to request
for updates, as I learned when I went to ** in May,
3) SR offered to refund my money when I complained to them after my visit to ** I have the voice recording of *** *to this
4) SR letter says ** *** continued with plans making their plans unusable I have no idea what they mean here ** has the plans
5) What has made their plans unusable is that ** requires that a concrete block structure be reinforced Ours is not SR should have informed us of this at the get goinstead of taking $6K from us.6) WHY is there no individual's name given representing SR on this letter? No accountability here.Sincerely,*** ***

I recently bought a house that had been on the market for a year.
The house was in very bad shape from the foundation to the roof, and needed lots of work, but it was a great deal.
A friend just completed a new kitchen and bath with Smart Remodeling and I loved the result so I figured i'll give them a call to check them out.
I must say from start to finish my project was a breeze. [redacted], our project manager was super communicative and always available. I had many other estimates and some were a little cheaper but I just knew that Smart Remodeling was the company I wanted to work with. They were honest, affordable and most important (for me) available. The best part was not dealing with the city permits at all, they took care of everything for me.
[redacted] was on the job site managing the crew on almost a daily bases, and when ever he wasn't there, I got updates by phone. I did floors through out, paint and texture through out, brand new kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms and little detailing all over. [redacted], the foreman, was attentive and very pleasant, and clean. I felt more than comfortable leaving them alone in my home.
I absolutely love the end result, and would recommend Smart Remodeling to my friends and family!

When we first met with a representative from Smart Remodeling we were excited that they could complete our project in a timely manner before our house was scheduled to go on the market. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter that first meeting, things began to go downhill.

The day before the project was set to begin we drove by the house in the evening and found one of Smart Remodeling's employees stealing our property. Although we had moved out of the house we had left some bikes and snowboards in the back (behind a closed fence) so that we could pick them up later with a moving truck. When we pulled up we saw a man loading our bikes into the back of his truck. He claimed that he thought it was garbage but that couldn't have been further from the truth. We hired Smart Remodeling to fix up the front of our house- not the back and he must have snooped through our entire property to look for things to take because the house was vacant. When we called the police and our Smart Remodeling rep the thief quickly returned the stolen property. However, we were never given a discount or anything else for the stress that this incident caused. We were only promised that the thief wouldn't be working on our project. He might actually still work for the company. We wanted to go through another company but at this point we were running out of time so we kept them on so that our yard could be fixed up.

Additionally, we made a verbal agreement for a "Good Neighbor" fence so that the neighboring lot would have an attractive fence. The fence that was finally completed only looks decent on our side of the property. The neighbors are not amused and we now have to pay our handyman to fix the back of the fence to make it look nice. The craftsmanship of the fence is shoddy and it'll probably need to be repaired in a few short years if we don't fix it right now. When we called about this issue we were told that we hadn't agreed to a better quality fence. Why would I agree to a poorly built fence?

We also had sod installed on part of our property and they were short over 100 sq/ft so it delayed the project by several days. This pushed back the rest of our work on the house. I am shocked that this company has such high reviews considering the series of events that we have been subjected to over the past two weeks.

I had Smart remodeling and design give me an estimate to replace my windows. I had a positive experience with this company. They gave me a good price and they did a great job from start to finish. Every thing I needed or was concerned about they were there to take care of and fix. The guy who showed up was [redacted] and he was very nice. I will recommend them if you are looking to get a good quality of work.

my son just moved to our house with his family. Smart remodeling built an amazing new room with bathroom which I could never imagine my house will look like that. good price, great service!

Excellent, professional workmanship. The Work Was outstanding. Absolutely delighted and would highly recommend to all who would want professional work done in a timely manner. . Definitely will look to have them work on my home again in the future. Thank you Smart Remodeling and Design.
