Contract signed in 3/19, still awaiting final install. Company committed to 6/19 final install, payment plan based on that date. Smoke alarms disputed
Contract for solar panel install signed 3/29/19 but panel still awaiting final install. One delay is the requirement for smoke alarms which I was told originally would be completed by Smart Energy at its expense. Smoke alarms are not in original contract and fall under "extra work" which, contractually, is the company's obligation. Now I am being told that is my responsibility. Also, I was sold on the June 2019 start date for solar panel energy. This meant that I would be paying FPL$8 per month link fee allowing me 17 months to save money to pay more than the monthly installments required beginning in Nov. 2020. I want that time for payments to begin 17 months after panels are finally turned on. Smart Energy and their finance company, Renew, will not alter payment plan start date. After several phone calls, I am a very unsatisfied customer.
I want the job finished and payment plan start date to be adjusted accordingly.
Unfortunately to no fault of the contractor, the plans were in review by the city for an extremely long amount of time. Further, the city inspectors and plan reviews required items and information that was not normal for a solar installation. The city required the smoke detectors to be installed according to the new code. This is not the responsibility of the contractor but the client. The client did not have the smoke detectors installed thus delaying the project. However, Smart Energy, Inc. expended over $300 to install the smoke detectors in order to pass *** final inspection. The complainant's first payment is not until November 2020.
I have installed solar system from this company. I am satisfied how this project was done. Perfect job.
I did a solar and roof project with Smart Energy, and everything was on time. They took care of all necessary permits and kept me informed for every step. I write this review because they have the best customer service. I am very satisfied!

I had solar panels installed for my home and Smart Energy team did a great work! I didn't have to be concerned about permits and there was always someone reaching out to me to do a follow up of next activities. I'm very pleased!
Solar panels installed are not functioning aa promised
I am writing this letter regarding Solar Panels I purchased from Smart Energy.
Solar Panels - purchased and installed in October 2018
I paid $63,000 (financed) Renew Financial in San Francisco, CA for this product. The payments
have not started yet.
I contacted Smart Energy - *** and *** on numerous dates in November, December , January and
explained that the product was unsatisfactory. solar panels are not producing, electric bill
increases, app is always in the negative! They say send the electric bill but they don't even look into it like I am an it. They can see the panels are pulling very little energy Failure to receive an appropriate response to this problem has prompted me to write directly to you.
On January 19, 2019, I contacted the Revdex.com in San Francisco, California, on the finance company, Renew Finance and I wrote to the Pace Program and explained that the product
was unsatisfactory. The solar panels are not producing the energy promised - 68% of 2045
kilowatts and I only use 1172 from December to January. and smart Energy, INC has done
nothing to resolve the issue. This type of business and service is unethical and my situation needs to be rectified immediately.
I would appreciate your assistance in resolving my complaint. I would like for Smart Energy to
repair the defective product or install the correct amount of solar panel so that when I am running the 2045 kilowatts, apprx 68% of my electric bill will reflect this. If the product cannot be
repaired, I would like Smart Energy to cancel my contract with Renew Financial.
Enclosed are copies of my records, including I have the contract that that says I use apprx 2045
kilowatts and the panel should provide 68% of that. I also have the FPL bill that say last month
bills 1172 kilowatts and the panels are producing 304 kilowatts.

*** contracted with Smart Energy, Inc. on June 17, 2018. According to her agreement with Smart Energy, Inc. Ms. was to receive 37 solar panels which would produce 68% of her energy usage per month. (Please see the attached agreement.) Ms. System was installed on October 31, 2018, with a final inspection from the city on November 20, 2018. After the Final inspection the meter was turned on with FPL on December 7, 2018. Over the course of the month of December, Ms. reached out to Smart Energy regarding her electric usage and production of the Solar panels, every time Ms. reached out Smart Energy responded and request where the information she was receiving came from. Ms. does not answer any of Smart Energy, Inc's phone calls and only corresponds through email and text. Smart Energy several time requested a copy of her FPL bill in order to compare the monitoring system to her bill. After several weeks we received a copy of her bill which showed a significate reduction in her bill from her usage between December 5, 2018 and January 8, 2019. (Please see attached her January Bill). In analyzing the bill, you'll see that in December 2018 her consumption was 868kWh, which is after the energy is used from the solar panels, last year in 2017 her energy consumption was 1752kWh. If you look to the right on her bill, you will see that her actual electric charges are only $99.53 and of that amount $14.56 are taxes and charges from FPL. Ms. was on FPL's Budget Billing plan and on her December bill the bulk of her bill was the charge for that program. The head of the net metering department/Distributed Generation, Customer Response Specialist for FPL, *** went through her bill period and confirmed her output for the Solar and confirmed it was producing and in fact saving her a significant amount on her FPL bill. Further, an analysis of her panels and monitoring system was conducted and she is producing what was promised. I personally have been emailing back and forth to Ms. regarding this matter and requested several time to schedule a meeting to review and go over how the metering system works and why she thinks she is not producing energy. She has filed to schedule a meeting or call Smart Energy, Inc regarding this issue, instead she has put several frivolous complaints to multiple institutions, potentially tarnishing the Smart Energy, Inc. brand. We have met all the obligations in the contract signed with Ms., her bill this month for FPL is around $40.00 which is again a significant reduction from last January. My claim is not without merit and to say the least not frivolous. I work Monday thru Friday and I also travel. I am not taking a day off to travel to Pompano Beach to intimidated by these people. This women is a lawyer and I am no match for her. So I choose to communicate thru email and text. She can't make me go there. It is my choice to communicate thru text and email. I am communicating none the less, just because I don't want to see these thieves does not make my claim frivolous.. I am not tarnishing Smart Energy's reputation, but their sales person *** knew that there was no savings for me why don't we talk with him. I don't feel people should fall prey to this company as I did. I have a $63,000 bill and in the summer my electric bill will be oapprx $100, that plus the $310 does not equal savings. He specifically told that credit would be forthcoming especially in the months without air... this is not true..HE LIED
#1 I provided a bill to salesperson that sold the panels, *** he seen I was on budget billing never once said for me to come off or I would not see savings.
#2 the contract is very misleading. I specifically asked about the percentage which was 68% of the 2045. This was an average and the 2045 was in July so what happens in the months that I am not using 2045, this was supposed to credit or stored to months when I use 2045 and I would see saving over the full year. My panels cost $310/per month, so and I have an electric bill on top of that in the hot months....
the panels are aways in the negative therefore I am not storing anything for the hot months and will have a high electric bill on top of the $310

We have been monitoring her system and her system is producing what has been promised. We have tried to schedule a phone conference and in person meetings to explain how to understand her bill and her monitoring system. Smart Energy, Inc. has been in contact with Ms., we have reached out to the installer who confirmed her system is producing, we have reached out to FPL who also sent her an email about production and literature about her system. We have been in constant communication with Ms., however, there is no resolution on her end as we have done everything on our end but she is still not pleased. I have attached the email from FPL as well as monitoring for February 1-February 20, 2019. Smart Energy maintains the position that this complaint is unwarranted as we have delivered on the contract and have produced the results.
