In 2012, I contracted Small World Entertainment to provide entertainment services for a children’s birthday partyI was quite pleased with the services provided, so I booked them for an upcoming event on April *** of this yearUnfortunately, my recent dealings with Ashley at the company did not live up to my expectationsI initially phoned the company daily for approximately a week, and also sent an email to assess availabilityMy email and voicemails were responded to an entire week later, which is highly unprofessionalAshley stated that it was because I left the message on the wrong lineI was surprised at this statement as I would assume in a professional capacity, someone from the company pass my message alongWhen I finally got a hold of them on March ***, I booked with Ashley, who told me I would receive a contract in the mailI also requested an email copy; I received neitherAfter calling back on March *** for an update, Ashley advised that she had sent both, and evidence of the email was in her outbox and that she mailed the contract; she would email and mail another physical copyAfter a week and no courtesy call from the company to at least confirm receipt, I still had not gotten the contractI called on March *** to cancel and asked for a refundIt was again Ashley with whom I spoke who asked me to send an email requesting cancelation, to which I did and she confirmed receipt while I was still on the lineAshley also advised that she would need to speak with Doug, the owner, to approve a refund since bookings are generally non-refundableThis was surprising given most, if not all companies, provide a refund, or at least partial if canceling well over a month in advance! Furthermore, I was not informed during booking that this was the case, and again – I STILL had not received a contractI asked to be placed on hold while she reached Doug, but she advised he would not be in until Tuesday (March **)I called then, and again spoke with Ashley who advised that Doug could not be reached but that she would try to reach him again; as when she initially spoke to him, he was averse to providing a refundI gave the company until Friday, March *** (not sure if they were closed for the holiday) before I left a message asking for an updateAs of this afternoon, Wednesday, March ***, no responseBEWARE of this companyIt’s just not worth the effort – who knows if with this type of delayed response and poor customer service, if they would have even showed up to perform…
