Review: I went to Slice for a perm (permanent wave) on June 1. I didn't get a trim even though I usually get one with a perm, & even though my long-time stylist, [redacted], insisted I should or the perm wouldn't look as good. After the blow-dry I commented on the lack of usual curl; she again said, "You didn't get a cut". (This is simply not true; a perm curls whether the hair is trimmed or not.) But at home I saw that the perm hadn't taken at all: my hair was as straight, flat and limp as it had been on Friday! But [redacted] had ignored my comment instead of checking more closely and realizing that the perm had failed. I called Slice as soon as they opened on Tuesday, left a message with my phone number (the salon's answering machine says they'll call right back). They didn't. I tried 20 minutes later. No one called back. I waited till 11 but again nobody picked up. So I went there. [redacted] was extremely defensive and refused to accept responsibility for the perm's failure; in fact, she blamed ME because, she said, I hadn't washed my hair!! (It's a cardinal rule never to wash post-perm.) I argued fruitlessly for her to give me another perm. When she categorically refused, I asked for my money back. She refused that as well. Then she accused me of harassment and threatened to call the police! (She said my hair would fall out if I permed again soon; I've been told since by a professional stylist that my hair did not look chemically damaged and another perm would not have hurt.) I don't know why the perm didn't work. Maybe the wave solution had expired (our conversation Saturday revealed that I'm the only person there who gets perms, and that happens only twice a year). Regardless, the salon should have stood behind its work. Instead, [redacted] belligerently, falsely, blamed me for the perm failure and refused to correct the problem or to return my money. (Above the $85 charge I gave her a $10 tip).I certainly hope this complaint will go to Slice's owner, not to the manager (since the manager is [redacted]).Desired Settlement: Refund to cover the cost of a new perm (plus tip) elsewhere.
