Response: To whom it may concern, *** *** was seen in the office between the dates of service January to September 2015. The first two visits were an initial consult (1/23/15) and a follow up visit (5/7/15) and no procedures were performed. Mr
*** says $12,was charged and disputed. The facts are, out of the all the procedure visits, the amount collected from the insurance was only $(six laser procedures). The amount *** paid was $2821.30. This is nothing close to the $12,in the “purchase and disputed” statement. The amount charged and the amount paid by the insurance is what he may be seeing in the explanation of benefits, but this does not mean that is what the insurance actually paid. The insurance only paid very little for such procedures, $2612.38. The cost alone on these procedures is more than what the insurance actually reimbursed. In addition, Mr*** had a $deductible. He states he was overcharged, yet clearly this is not the case. This is a complicated procedure and services should cost “couple hundred dollars, not couple thousand!” is not the case. To make a statement of my veins are still open is difficult for me to evaluate without an adequate follow up. We did not see *** after his last procedure and had we have known such a situation; we would have remedied the issue. We typically do sclerotherapy (injections) and follow up ultrasounds after laser vein procedures are done to make sure the veins are closed, however, we did not see *** after his last procedure 9/17/ He did not follow up. This is the first I am hearing of such an issue. We simply did what the insurance had approved at the time. At times, it is possible that laser was not successful due to certain variables. Medicine is not always an exact science, however we would be happy to help in any way possible had we have known he was still symptomatic. Remedy: *** has an outstanding balance of $towards his $deductible. We will waive his balance
