Skyline Enterprises, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I hired Skyline Enterprises, Inc. on August 25, 2014 to construct a new porch addition onto my new mobile home for $10,000. Mr. [redacted], owner, told me the job would be completed in two weeks. After numerous complaints by my neighbors, on September 3, 2014 I had to ask him to curb his loud and vulgar language. As of September 17, the porch addition was less than half completed with unacceptable workmanship and he still would not provide me with a contract after numerous requests. The weather had no effect on his lack of accomplishment. His approximate four hours of work per day was not completing the job in the period he had guaranteed. I fired Mr. [redacted] on September 17, 2014 after numerous people pointed out the obvious mistakes and inferior construction and hired a new contractor to complete the job in a satisfactory and timely manner. Unfortunately, intimidation led to another payment of $3,000.00 that day upon Mr. [redacted]s angry, verbal demand. Total payment for his unfinished, dangerous construction was $11,000.00. Mr. [redacted] would not leave until I paid him. I am an elderly woman who lives alone. Mr. [redacted] took advantage of me with his demands and hostility. Upon inspection from the second contractor, over half of Skyline Enterprises, Inc.s construction had to be demolished due to inferior and dangerous workmanship. Most of the materials were not reusable. To name but a few of the issues, which have been carefully documented with pictures and statements by three reputable, licensed contractors, include:1.No New Castle County Permit Valuation Form for Residential Addition and Accessory Structure.2.No electricians license, which is mandatory for all electrical work as of June 2013.3.Use of indoor screws for outside construction, which would result in rust stains and breakage.4.Substandard flooring that was not waterproof.5.An improper amount of supports per New Castle County building code.6.Holes drilled into the ceiling (for drainage you said) which had already started to stain the siding and cause damage to the underlying wood.7.The wrong material used for the ceiling, laid at the wrong angle and not supported.8. Lack of support in the roof. Inferior attachment (a bead of caulk) of the addition to the existing roof.9.Lack of support beams for the floor. 10.Four inches of concrete poured for the foundation (footers) instead of the required 36 as stated in the New Castle County building code. 11.Inaccurately measured steps built at varying heights.I sent Skyline Enterprises, Inc. a Demand Letter by certified mail on December 9, 2014. Mr. [redacted] did not respond to said Demand Letter. I am requesting mediation through the Revdex.com to end this matter with the return of $7,500.00 of my payment for services not rendered from Skyline Enterprises, Inc.Desired Settlement: $7,500.00 of the $11,000.00 I paid Skyline Enterprises, Inc for inferior, dangerous workmanship which had to be demolished by another company. This amount includes the new materials purchased to complete the job (the materials used by Skyline Enterprises, Inc was no longer useable after demolition). I am not asking for the money I had to spend to have the other company demolish and rebuild my addition.
