Received call from Dan at Skyline Auto, providing business response to complaint.Dan indicates that Skyline Auto has been working in good faith toward reaching some sort of resolution with the customer, primarily through Mr [redacted] 's uncle. As it concerns the warranty / service contract in question, Dan indicates that Mr [redacted] is correct in saying that he should not have been able to purchase the warranty in question, given the miles on the carHe says the online submission process should not have allowed selection of this particular warranty product, but it did.Says he has since discussed this seeming technical error with the warranty provider, but emphasizes that the warranty in question would not have covered this engine replacement either wayDan says that Mr [redacted] is welcome to cancel the warranty coverage and receive a (pro-rated?) refund for it -- can do so directly through the warranty provider himself, or can do so through Skyline Auto.As it concerns vehicle repairs, Dan indicates that Skyline Auto wants Mr [redacted] to be happy with his purchase, but feels that the need for engine replacement could have been avoided had Mr [redacted] checked his oil before making a cross-country trip in the vehicle. He says when Skyline determined Mr [redacted] 's engine replacement would not be covered by his insurance or Mr [redacted] 's warranty, it decided it was willing to participate in the repair process in some way, though the vehicle would've otherwise been considered "as is" under Minnesota Used Car Warranty lawHe says that Skyline has covered Mr [redacted] 's car rental, but feels that some of the figures Mr [redacted] 's uncle has thrown out for engine replacement and associated labor charges are unrealistic under the circumstances.Dan indicates that aside from the money it has already paid out to cover Mr [redacted] 's rental car, it is willing to assist in the engine replacement by sourcing a replacement engine at about $for the vehicle (i.e., less than what the customer might otherwise be able to achieve on his own), but cannot contribute further financially toward the replacement
