Sky View Manor Motel

Review: During the week of August 30, 2013, I called the Sky View Manor in Seaside Heights, NJ and reserved a hotel room for the dates of Friday, August 30th- Monday, September 2nd. I spoke with [redacted]. [redacted] told me that the deposit was $100. When I informed him that we would need late check-in, after 11pm, he raised the deposit to $150. We arrived to the Sky View Manor at 11:30pm on Friday, August 30th. My husband, [redacted], went in to check-in. My mother-in-law, [redacted], was also with us. She reserved a room for her and her husband as well. She was not asked to sign anything. [redacted] signed the receipt. The outside of the building was very dirty. We asked [redacted] if we could see our room before we decided to stay. He said yes, and showed us room #313. When we walked in, the first thing we noticed was the mold and the smell. It smelt like mildew. The blankets were dirty and the carpets were stained. My husband and my 1 year old son have asthma, and could not breath well in the room. We informed [redacted] that we could not stay in the room. He showed us an apartment across the street. The doorway to the apartment was in an alley, which was filled with people partying. They were drinking and smoking and playing music extremely loud. We did not feel like the apartment was a safe and quiet place for our son. [redacted] then showed us a third room. This room also smelt bad, and was very dirty. The blankets were hanging on the floor. When [redacted] moved them, cockroaches ran out from under the bed. At this point, we were all disgusted and refused to stay in any of the rooms. We left, and had to find another hotel with vacancy. Upon returning home from our trip. Both [redacted]'* and[redacted] cards were charged with the deposit fees. [redacted] was refunded, and [redacted] is refusing to refund the room because of the signed receipt. I do not feel like we should have to pay the deposit fee, because the rooms were not acceptable to stay in.Desired Settlement: I would like the deposit fee of $150 to be refunded back to [redacted] account. I do not understand, nor think it is acceptable to refund one and not the other for the same reasons. The rooms were not stay worthy.
