Review: On 6/1/2013 I purchased an Oldsmobile Bravada (2000). Car ran good, however I feel it is always good to get a tune-up upon purchasing a used vehicle. On 7/16/2013 my boyfriend ([redacted]) took the vehicle to Sky Auto Care because there ws a slight "knocking" noise. Upon further inspection, they noticed that the coolant was low and full of rust. Mr. [redacted] stated that he would like the cooolant flushed and a tune-up performed (oil change, etc.).I believed that all of the services we paid for were performed. On 1/21/2014, the Service Engine light came on and the vehicle was running hot. The coolant was low once again and was full of rust. Upon speaking with several repairmen I was told that there was no way the coolant had been flushed if there was that much build up of rust. I was told that the rust build up can clog hoses, the water pump and the heter core and thermostat. Sky Auto Care pressure tested the cooling system and notice numerous leaks. If the cooling system had been flushed at the time of the tune-0up, wouldn't they have noticed the leaks then? We ended up with a bill for $1,123.06! Part of this was for new fuel injector assembly, which the car was running fine except for the overheating problem, which we still had. On 2/04/2014 the vehicle went back to the shop because it was losing coolant where one of the hoses attaches to the radiator. There was a visible crack where the hose4 meets the radiator. We replaced the radiator. about three days later, the car ran hot again. While at a friend's house, Mr. [redacted] looked under the vehicle and noticed leaks from several hoses. His friend who is knowledgeable about cars looked at the leaking areas and stated that all of the clamps were not tightened. Once again, I believe all of this should have been taken care of when the original cooling system flush was supposedly performed. Also, the fuel injectors should not have been needed to be repaced. One of the Spark plug wires was out of sequence, which would cause the car to run rough.Desired Settlement: I feel that most of the repairs would not have been needed if the cooling system had been done. I would like some kind of re-imbursementfrom these repairs that were not actually neccessxary. The total spent in repairs at this shop was $1,826.50.

Response:

Basically, customer believing that I did not flush her cooling system and therefore triggered all of her entire problems including over heating, spider fuel injection system failure, and leaking hoses. Well, first I like to point out that I don't know who this [redacted] is. She is not the person who brought this vehicle in for service. She is not the person whom I talked and shown all the problems that the vehicle had. She had no ideal that this vehicle had been neglected for a very long time on all of its maintenance needs. According to [redacted], this is a used vehicle she recently bought and thought she had a good deal which turns out no so good. To answer her question on did we really flush the vehicles cooling system? Yes we did. The reason why she thought we did not flushed her cooling system was not because of rust, but oil was in cooling system due to a deteriorated lower intake manifold gasket. I found this out on a separate service later on. I show the old gasket exactly where the deteriorated was and explained in detail to Mr. [redacted]. And he understood approved of the service. As for the spider fuel injection assembly failure, I have nothing to do with that. The spider fuel injection assembly consisted of several individual mini fuel injectors deep within its center housing. 2 of the fuel injector failed without warning. This is just due to aging condition. I never took apart the fuel injection assembly nor do I have the time such thing. I was afraid of such misunderstanding that is why for this fuel injection assembly issue, I take the extra time to have Mr. [redacted] come over and educated him on this fuel injection assembly and it functional important as well as possibly how it fail and what is recommended. On top of all of that, the diagnostic was fee of charge and a great discount on the replacement. The huge discount was not due to my fault but due to misfortunate event and an attempted to keep him as customer by showing good faith and I explained that clearly in person. Again, Mr. [redacted] was happy and approved for the service. My final thought on this is that this vehicle although appeared to be running good at the time but had been neglected for its maintenance and had many unforeseen problems. As such example, we flushed the cooling system and a few weeks latter, it is full of slugs due to an unforeseen damage intake manifold gasket. I have done everything I in trying to keep a customer by give free and discount service. This is a clear case of “no good faith goes without punishment”. If Mr. [redacted] did not approved of the service, why didn’t he say anything. Out of the blue I am getting a complaint by someone whom I haven’t done business with. I, [redacted] X[redacted] in behalf of Sky Auto Care do not owe this [redacted] or [redacted] anything.
