I want to share a negative experience I had after hiring Skill Set Inc., (Dba; Skill Set Remodeling, Skill Set AZ) Contractor Robert *** G***-Estrada ROC I hired Robert /Skill Set Remodeling and paid them over 50% of a $30,home remodel in Phoenix, AZ., paid them another $5k midway and the final payment before they finished the bad work ( retouching all paint, fixing badly installed pocket doors, and for CORRECTING a bad / incompetent plumbing job which resulted in all my hot/cold water valves being messed up and backwards This was a terrible experience/home Remodeling project beginning with day one when the Skill Sets ‘‘movers” broke my writing desk legs off, tree away my curtains and a good desk in a huge dumpster, neglected to put up a protective barrier wall which I paid fir as part of our contracted work - with my furniture under a patio left in the dust and degree heat Next the house was left unlocked all night ( as we were in a hotel during remodel) windows cracked open, food left out, Pepsi spilled in my NEW cabinets Contractor on site very rarely with undocumented workers and no supervision Actual remodel work mostly substandard Pocket doors installed are rubbing against wall and stitching doors and rubbing paint off each time open/closed House paint outside peeling after months Indoor paint in master bath looks like primer only and streaking Baseboards looks uneven paint, knicked cabinets Most all of my furniture is knocked and/or ruined They left a BEW vanity console outside in sunlight degrees without a plastic cover and with rain on the fur cast I took s picture and sent it to them One guy working alone on floors for weeks while we paid to stay in a hotel - our house is only 1,sq ft so this could have been done in st least half the time The plunking is ALL hooked up backwards and we have hot water flushing our toilets resulting in tripling our gas bill! They avoided correcting this issue because we had at least three ‘trouble shooters’ guess that the problem is in the wall plumbing and would cost about $2,to correct - they already tried simple solutions like switching hot/ cold hook-ups Hone Advisors Resolutions Department is working with me to get this resolved ASAP This whole review is BUYER BEWARE!!! Unless this issue is CORRECTED COMPLETLY in a timely manner then Skill Set will be reported to the Registrar of Contractors and dropped from Hone Advisir network

My family recently completed a conversion and addition to our home It was our first truly major home improvement A couple things stood out 1) Robert was very responsive to all of our questions/wants and 2) he's very easy to communicate with during the ups and downs of the process In our experience, with other minor contracts and family projects, those attributes are a rarity To boot, our house looks awesome! I've used Skill Set Remodeling for a few years now, for small jobs and complete remodels and they did excellent work every time Robert, the owner, and his crew are very professional, very dependable, and their work is top notch Robert communicated with me every step of the way on every job so I knew what to expect...no surprises I highly recommend Skill Set if you want the job done right They can handle big jobs and small and manage the subs....a great company!

We needed a flagstone walkway installed, received multiple quotes and chose Skill Set because 1) it was affordable and 2) we like having a licensed contractor on the property They just finished the project and I couldn't wait to get to the computer and write a review From the affordable quote to clean up, everyone involved was professional and focused Communication was great and the whole experience reminded me of the days when friendly, dependable customer service wasn't such a surprise We will definitely call on them again for projects, both inside and out

Skill Set completed an interior remodel job for our 5600sf building Robert was always quick to respond to my calls His Staff was great in answering any questions I had, and accepting to last minute changes ( which I had a few :)
Would recommend them, and will be calling them in the future for my new remodel

We had gotten several quotes for our Arizona room remodel in early We checked each company with the Revdex.com and had face to face meetings before finally selecting Robert and the AZ Skill Set companyThey seemed to have good online reviews and said everything we wanted to hear about the pending jobBy the 3rd day we knew we had picked the wrong companyThere was little communication each other and less with us.The quality of workmanship was the poorest we'd ever seenThey came when they wanted and left in the same mannerThey didn't come prepared for the days work and left frequently to get missing suppliesThey hid defects in their workmanship under layers of other portions of the jobExamplethey covered bricks too large for the space in the wall behind a hardibacker board then covered that with the frame for the screen doorit stuck out like a sore thumb and left the bottom open to insects/water/decayThis was not the only thing they tried to hideCommunicating this issues with the owner was a waste of timeHe said the crew would fix the issues as we brought them to his attention but they crew worked on without ever correcting one of themWe finally asked them not to come back long before the job was ever close to completionWe hired a company to do a job we could have done ourselves but didn't have the timeIt took us a little longer than we had wanted but our finished project was better than we could have ever hoped for and we correct all their defects they didn't when they were here
We can not in good conscious recommend this company for any remodeling job

Skill Set Remodeling was a huge disappointment as they worked on an eight week remodel that was never completed. My furniture had to be moved to patio and was never covered properly a many items desk, dining table, TV were ruined. Things like my curtains and by- fold doors were tossed in dumpster without my consent that were in good shape. Other newer pieces ( a new bathroom vanity were actually sitting in the 110 degree sun without any cover. The bathroom paint was simply primer. The new cabinets were knicked in more than one spot. The hot/ cold water was reversed and my toilets flushed hot water taking our bill up $59 a month. The pool hose was hot water-everything was a complete mess. They had one guy most of the time when a crew could have finished in less than half the time. I was overcharged for pool chemicals - three visits of pool chemical $600. The neighbors pool guy said it was $150 worth if chemicals. After three months the outside paint is peeling in places and our hut/cold water is still reversed after numerous please to have it corrected.

This Phoenix AZ Contractor spent eight weeks Remodeling my house- please call me at 602-317-2106 for a thorough review. Verified customer. Work was unsatisfactory, never finished and if low standards. Very disappointed and feel I was way overcharged for work that was done and work that was never completed.

Skill Set has done 2 remodels for my house and did exactly as they said they would and at the bottom line number I was originally quoted..I am a residential realtor in Phoenix and have already referred 4 jobs to Robert..Very satisfied..
