Mr*** called to discuss his claim for damage to a dining room chair and scratches on the dining room table topI advised him that the claim would be settled based upon his selection of Carriers Liability of $per pound per articleThe settlement came to $He complained that
his furniture was worth more than thatI agreed with him that was probably true but he did not select Replacement Value CoverageIn addition before the move started he signed that all insurance options were explained to him and he made his decision accordingly
While I was explaining his selection process he hung up on me Our apology was included in the settlement letter attached
We are sorry for the delay in responding, but we have no record of receiving the original complaint. Our email server went down on July 3rd and did not came back until the 7th or 8th.Our sales representative, Matthew Simonik, provided *** *** with A Guaranteed Not to Exceed
Estimate for moving 12,pounds of personal effects, with a rate reduction if the actual weight was less. The Estimate & Order for Service signed by *** ***, clearly states that the price quote applies only for the services outlined and only for the items to be moved as shown on the Estimate Inventory Summary. The Estimate Inventory lists a total of items to be moved and items not being shipped. This is also signed by *** ***. At the time of loading for storage-in-transit at our warehouse, the driver inventoried pieces, considerably more than what was estimated to be moved. Certified weights were obtained, resulting in a total actual net weight of 16,pounds. *** *** was advised of the weight increase and the resulting price increase for the additional 4,pounds. After some discussion, Simonik *** *** *** *** came to an agreement and she signed a change order increasing the weight from 12,pounds to 14,pounds. This weight increase brought the new cost to $13,515.48, a difference of $1,328.62, not $3,173.03. (Also note that *** *** had signed prior Change Order for additional containers & packing she needed, resulting in an increase over the estimate of $207.00.) In summary, considerably more items were being shipped than what was indicated on the original estimate, resulting in an increase in the actual weights. *** *** agreed to a negotiated weight increase as indicated by the Change Order she did sign. As backup to the above, we have attached the signed Estimate & Estimate Inventory, the actual inventories of the items being moved, as well as the certified weight tickets and signed Change Orders. Should you require further information, please let us know.James ESimonikPresident
Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: no matter what insurance coverage I selected, the reality is that this company mishandled and damaged my furniture. I hung up the phone when the owner became belligerent. I want other consumers to know of my experience.

Review: Simonik Moving & Storage (an agent of Allied Van Lines) gave me a "Guaranteed Not to Exceed" binding estimate but will not honor this estimate. They claim that our goods are 4,000 lbs are higher than estimated, and rather than take responsibility for their "guaranteed not to exceed" price, want me to pay an additional $3,200 to deliver our goods. They are holding our goods hostage until we "sign a change order and pay the difference", when they should be honoring their "guaranteed not to exceed" price. They missed one item in the basement corner when they were giving our estimate, and I've even offered to take responsibility for the item that they did not see, but not for their 3000-4000 lb (whether it was an error, or a low-ball estimate), but they are trying to pass on the entire difference (over $3000) to me.Desired Settlement: For Simonik moving to honor their "guaranteed not to exceed" price and deliver our goods as promised, at the original price and time. I'm wiling to negotiate an additional price that I would pay for the item in the basement corner that they missed (a reasonable price based on weight), but only if all the rest of our goods will be delivered on time as promised and for the price originally quoted.

The Estimate & Order for Service signed by [redacted], clearly states that the price quote applies only for the services outlined and only for the items to be moved as shown on the Estimate Inventory Summary. The Estimate Inventory lists a total of 267 items to be moved and 3 items not being shipped. This is also signed by [redacted]. At the time of loading for storage-in-transit at our warehouse, the driver inventoried 572 pieces, considerably more than what was estimated to be moved. Certified weights were obtained, resulting in a total actual net weight of 16,140 pounds. [redacted] was advised of the weight increase and the resulting price increase for the additional 4,140 pounds. After some discussion, Simonik [redacted] came to an agreement and she signed a change order increasing the weight from 12,000 pounds to 14,800 pounds. Review: I signed a contract to pack my house up and move from NJ to Florida. The contract stated that they would pack 12-5/12-6. load 12-8 and Deliver 12-12. When the truck showed up to pack my house there was limited space and could not fit everything in the truck. They sent another truck to complete the move. I was told by my sales rep [redacted] (who was tough to get a hold of once he took my money) that everything will arrive the same time. I received the first truck on 12-16 and the rest of the shipment did not arrive in Florida till 1-19. It did not arrive for over a month and I have three young kids. Unacceptable and the only thing I was told was that the delay was caused from holiday extra. Very Disappointing and extremely unprofessiDesired Settlement: I expect them to adjust the amount that I promised to pay when they were over a month late when moving my house. I also feel they would blame the shippers when I hired them and they were the recipients to my credit card. They are rude and tough to work with

Attached please find three responses S[redacted] our General Manager, made to [redacted] regarding [redacted] complaints. Please pay special attention to the 3rd letter dated February 13, 2015. This letter explains in more detail the circumstances involved with the [redacted] move. The reason for the 3 letters is that [redacted] denied their claim three times and they keep coming back with a different claim. We are now on our fourth letter of explanation to [redacted] In the meantime [redacted] has paid the [redacted] for the delay claim.
Review: This company ruined an expensive dining room table and chair. They only contacted me about my damage claim after a month when I called to ask why I hadn't heard from anyone. They offered me only $78.00 because I purchased the standard insurance. I would have bought more coverage if I had known how poorly they would handle my furniture. Rather than apologize for ruining my table, the owner, [redacted] became belligerent and told me me that it was my fault for not buying more insurance coverage.Desired Settlement: Post my comments so that other people researching this company can learn about my experience.

Response:
Mr. [redacted] called to discuss his claim for damage to a dining room chair and scratches on the dining room table top. I advised him that the claim would be settled based upon his selection of Carriers Liability of $0.60 per pound per article. The settlement came to $78.00. He complained that his furniture was worth more than that. I agreed with him that was probably true but he did not select Replacement Value Coverage. In addition before the move started he signed that all insurance options were explained to him and he made his decision accordingly.
While I was explaining his selection process he hung up on me. Our apology was included in the settlement letter attached.

Review: I was given a delivery window and the moving company was 3 days late. When my contents finally arrived there was damage to a 46 inch flat screen TV, a titanium mountain bike, china and dishes and a cordless drill was never delivered. The local moving company, [redacted] confirmed that the contents were recklessly packed and "bottom loaded". I filed a claim with [redacted] and they offered me a $24 settlement. The insurance adjustor, [redacted] phone number [redacted] never contacted me other than by email, to discuss the claim. I recieved a letter stating that the TV would not be covered because their was no exterior damage, the china and dishes were not covered because they were not packed by the movers, the missing drill was not covered at all and the bike would only be covered for $24. This is completely unacceptable. When I contacted [redacted], she was rude and unhelpful.Desired Settlement: $1500 in damages

Response:
[redacted] booked his interstate move with Simonik Moving & Storage. As agents for [redacted], we registered his move with [redacted] with a load date of 7/27/13 and delivery spread of 8/1-7/13. [redacted] goods were loaded on 7/27. However, the driver who hauled this needed emergency dental work. Consequently, the truck was delayed and his things were not deliverd until August 10th. He can file a delay claim with [redacted] by calling their Customer Service Department at [redacted] Option 3, Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 6 pm EST.
We also are aware that he filed a claim for damages with [redacted]. They settled the claim at carrier's liability of $.60 per pound per article, the coverage that [redacted] elected.
A copy of the Bill of Lading with the Valuation Statement releasing his goods at $.60 per pound per article is attached, along with [redacted] Claim Settlement Letter. We have also included only the 2 pages of the inventory showing what Simonik Moving packed--no breakables were packed by Simonik.
Please accept our apologies that his move was not handled to his complete satisfaction.

Review: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Simonik Moving picked up our belongings, packed them in a truck, took our belongings to a warehouse, unpacked it, repacked it in another truck and bottom loaded bicycles, TV's and dishes. [redacted] Moving and Storage crew, (the local moving company out here), were horrified as to how my contents were packed. Simonik Moving packed the contents. I have missing items (cordless drill, bike helemts) , a broken flat screen TV, a bent bicycle frame and broken China, all which were under tremendous load because of the way it was packed by Simonik Moving. This has nothing to do with my belongings being 3 days late for delivery. It has to do with the monetary loss. I would like a settlement of $1500 from Simonik Moving.

Response:
Our position remains as stated prior. [redacted]ettled [redacted] claim based on the valuation option selected by [redacted] which was [redacted] of $0.60 per pound per article. Had [redacted] elected to release his shipment based upon Replacement Cost Coverage they would have settled based upon that selection.
We are an agent for [redacted]. They settle all claims for damage and related issues.
As far as Simonik Moving & Storage is concerned our crews followed standard loading procedures which were supervised by our warehouse manager. I will not comment on the comments made by the delivering crew. I can tell you that Simonik Moving & Storage has accrued an Excellent Quality Rating based on numerous criteria. We have maintained this rating for the last 12 years.
Had [redacted] covered his goods for the value that he states, these conversatins would not be necessary.

Your "standard loading procedures" resulted in substantial damages to my personal items. Your estimator NEVER stated that the contents would be loaded at [redacted] into a truck, unloaded into a warehouse, and re-loaded into a different truck. THIS is where the damage occured. Your "standard loading procedures" state that placing Flat screen TV's, bicycles and dishes and China on the bottom of heavier items, is a proper way to pack ??????? Of course you won't comment on the delivering crews' comments. That would force you into an admission of carelessness.
As far as your "Excellent Quality Rating", you have one very unhappy customer that isn't looking for anything other than what is fair. No part of this move was done as was stated by your estimator, [redacted] It's pathetic that you won't stand by your product.
