Review: PGE on 05/30/13 sent me a bill for 1 month 3x's normal amount for my agriculture water pump, sumersible 5HP pump. I call PGE said pump has been running for 30 days straight, they send a trouble shooter to my residence. He checked it out & said the check valve is the problem. I called my home owners ins co. American home Sheild. They sent Mr. [redacted] out next day at 10:00am, He said I can almost garauntee you it is a hole in the 3" metal pipe, so he did not check the ck check to ch valve on top of ground so he pulled the pump from the well installed new pipe & wire at his request. After installation, still would not build pressure to stop pump from running. . Said it must be the check valve. So he took it apart said it was no good, so he replaced it then the motor shut off at 60lbs like always. He arrived at 10:00AM him & his young helper. Had the pump out of the well at 1200 or 1215. He did not bring any pipe after what he said I should replace -3joints of pipe & all new wire. He left to go pu new pipe & wire? Returned about 115PM. Then she sent his helper over while my wife & I were pushing brush on our tractor asked if he could take the old pipe with him. I said yes, never saw the pipe or wire at 5PM he was loading up is tools & materials.
American home Shield pd him labor450.00+labor75.00+labor975.00=total $1500.00
He charged me for a service call he was here abpprox. 6 1/2 hrs handed me a bill with several figures on a scratch paper for total 1628.00 said he charged 150.00 per hr.on job site a total of 6 1/2 hrs at 150.00 per hr, he charged 230.67 per hr. (see attachment for clarification)
I honestly believe if he would have check to ck valve on top of the ground next to storage tank, he would have only recieved the 75.00 service charge & the price of the ck valve $135.00 new valve+service charge $75.00.00= total of $210.00
Desired Settlement: I feel I don't owe him any money where I owe no balance.
Business
Response:
Business' Initial Response
In response to Mr. [redacted] complaint
Enclosed is invoice# [redacted] showing itemized list of material and labor.
Invoice# [redacted] showing list of charges and authorization codes to American Home
Shield.
The Pump Tech. pulled pump and found that the pipe was worn and the wire
had rusted off pump. With Mr. [redacted] verbal permission, tech drove 40 miles
round trip to purchase new pipe and wire. Tech replaced wire and pipe and
check valve, pump worked after all repairs.
We believe Mr. [redacted] is under the impression that we are trying to
deliberately overcharge him. We are not in the habit of trying to overcharge our
customers. The pump tech has over 30 years of experience and was being
truthful in his diagnosis of the pump problem.
Mr. [redacted] also needs to understand the coverage under American Home
Shield.
The $75.00 co-pay, which Mr. [redacted] paid, is then deducted from the amount
paid to [redacted]'s Water Works.
Mr. [redacted] paid by check $750.00 which doesn't even cover the cost of the pipe
and wire nor does it cover the rest of the items itemized on the invoices or labor.
The co-pay to American Home Shield was paid and deducted from invoice [redacted]'s Water Works feels that the work was completed in a timely manner and
Mr. [redacted] still owes for remainder of charges on the invoice, however if Mr.
[redacted] would give us permission to return to his property we would gladly
remove the new pipe and wire and reinstall worn pipe and wire. If Mr. [redacted]
is not agreeable to this proposal then he will still owe for remaining items on
invoice [redacted]
We feel this is fair since he is enjoying water which his new pipe, wire and other
parts and material are providing; also there are our vendors that are waiting for
their payment for the parts and material purchased.
We believe that Mr. [redacted] relied too much on P G and E's diagnosis of the
problem and that they have no experience in diagnosing pump problems and
other areas concerning the workings of our business.
