Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Mr [redacted] obviously doesn't have all of the facts straight regarding my visits to their store and my interaction with Siker employeesI also find it interesting that he sidestepped or chose not to address some of the points I made and questions I asked Siker Furniture could have resolved this matter within a few days of the delivery of this mattress, my stating I wasn't happy with the purchase and wanted to return the mattress before it was being slept on or used Instead Siker has chosen to drag this matter out time wise, remain inflexible, offer no resolution or compromise to this situation as a perfect example of poor customer service and deceptive business practices/policiesTherefore, they have left me no other choice than to seek alternate methods of resolving this matter Regards, [redacted]

I have read Mr [redacted] ’ response to my statementI stand by the fact that the mattress he received was the mattress he chose, except for the updated coverI really don’t think that he came in the store saying that he did not want a Symbol MattressIf this was the case, we would not have sold him oneIt is a simple as thatIf Mr [redacted] came in the store with specific requests such as length of warranty (out of our products, only Simmons has a year) or Specific manufacturers he wanted to avoid, we would have obliged. The fact that Mr [redacted] is saying that we do sell used furniture by mentioning that we sell floor samples is not an accurate comparisonThere is a huge difference in a piece of furniture that has sat on the showroom floor compared to a customers’ homeWe have no control over the customers’ home conditions (cleanliness, pets, etc.)Furniture sold off the showroom floor are sold as floor samples, NOT used furnitureI think he is being petty in these claims.I understand that being in business as long as we have does not exclude us from making mistakes, but I strongly disagree that we did anything wrong during this processAfter looking at the mattresses on a previous visit, Mr [redacted] returned to the store on a day that his original salesperson was not working and told another associate (Cindy) what mattress he wanted to purchaseIt was at that point that she informed him of the cover changeHe was ok with it then, and that was the mattress that was delivered to himThe fact that they changed the label when they changed the cover has nothing to do with the fact that it is the same mattress made by the same manufacturerThe mattress that he received was the one he wanted.Thank you for your time.Mat [redacted] , Siker Furniture

First of all I would like to state that I feel the Mr***’ claims about our company pulling a “Bait and Switch” are completely absurdHe states in his letter that we informed him that the mattress would arrive in a different cover and that’s exactly what happenedThe company had switched
covers several months back and until we sold the remaining stock in the discontinued cover, we kept that on the floorThe mattress set he was shown is the same as the set he received except the fabric cover (which he was informed of). The name, specs, foam, coils are all the same. The mattress is manufactured by Symbol Mattress which is a local company out of Watertown WIIf Mr*** was so adamant that he not purchase a Symbol product, he did not mention this to the salespersonWe carry many SKU’s from several manufacturers including Simmons, Sealy, Serta, Symbol, and TempurpedicThe set he purchased is priced lower than any of the Simmons or Sealy sets that we carryI believe that he was told that the symbol line (which is on the other side of the bedding showroom) was priced lower than the Simmons or Sealy line, not that it was a lower priced set BY either Simmons or Sealy. In regards to the issue of the warranty, the beds have different warranties depending on which company you purchaseIf this concern of his was brought up at the time of purchase, he would have been informed on the spot of the length of the warrantyUpon delivery of the mattress set, he was handed the warranty brochure that comes in the mattress bag by the delivery guysNot sure what is so nonchalant about that, but it is what they do for every customer. When Mr*** voiced to us that he thought he received the wrong mattress, he was assured that the correct set had been delivered because it had.We are a small local company that has been in business for over yearsWe would not still be in business if we had bad business practicesWe don’t sell used furniture, which is why we cannot take this mattress backI’m quite sure that Mr*** would not like to receive a mattress that had been in someone else’s home for a week or moreFurthermore, it states right on the receipt that there are no cancellations on special orders, which this was.In closing all I can say is that Mr*** received the mattress that he said he would, except for the fabric cover, which he was informed of at the time of purchase.Have a wonderful day*** ***Siker Furniture and Bedding

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Mr. [redacted] obviously doesn't have all of the facts straight regarding my visits to their store and my interaction with Siker employees. I also find it interesting that he sidestepped or chose not to address some of the points I made and questions I asked.  Siker Furniture could have resolved this matter within a few days of the delivery of this mattress, my stating I wasn't happy with the purchase and wanted to return the mattress before it was being slept on or used.  Instead Siker has chosen to drag this matter out time wise, remain inflexible, offer no resolution or compromise to this situation as a perfect example of poor customer service and deceptive business practices/policies. Therefore, they have left me no other choice than to seek alternate methods of resolving this matter.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I've attached pics showing the difference between the Hylton House mattress in the store that I thought I was purchasing and the Symbol mattress that was delivered.
First of all, I wouldn't have filed this complaint if I had
received a Hylton House labeled mattress with a different color cover as I was
told by the salesperson(s). Mr.[redacted], I'm disappointed in unwillingness to resolve this matter. I stated my misgivings during delivery, called the
store on December 15th (two days after delivery) & again on the 22nd
stating my displeasure and also visited the store again on the 22nd hoping for
some help to resolve this matter in a satisfactory manner for each party. Each
time was basically told "can't help you, you bought it, now it's yours"  and given the impression of "tough
luck." Secondly, I was never told the mattress I was purchasing was
a Symbol mattress. The tag on the
mattress set in the showroom was clearly labeled Hylton House (see pic) and that was
the mattress set I thought I was purchasing. I expected a Hylton House mattress
with the same label, but a different color cover would be delivered because I was told by three
different salespersons that everything would be the same except the color of
the cover on the Hylton House model mattress in the showroom. The Hylton
House mattress tag label in the store looks completely different from the tag label
of the Symbol mattress (see pics) you delivered. Yes, Siker also had and I saw Symbol
mattresses on the showroom floor. However, the Symbol mattresses clearly stated
(tag label) they were a Symbol mattress and I purposely stayed away from those
products. I had also mentioned I didn't want a Symbol mattress to the
salesperson (older gentlemen-[redacted]?) during my visit prior to purchase. Would Siker Furniture accept a returned purchased  item from a customer who insisted it was the
same item internally they purchased fromSiker Furniture despite the item looking completely
different on the outside from the item on your showroom floor? I was also well aware the Hylton House mattress set was
priced lower than the Sealy, Serta & Simmons labeled mattress sets on ther
Siker showroom floor. However, I was led to believe the Hylton House mattress
set was a lower priced "private label" set manufactured by one of
those three companies. I don't remember exactly which exact company  I was told by the Siker salesperson(s)
manufactured the Hylton House. Although I'm sure I was told it was one of those three
major manufacturers and NOT Symbol. (Ex. Similar to once upon a time a
Chevrolet model was/is usually a lower priced manufactured Buick or Oldsmobile
except for the labels, nameplates & minor differences (or used to be?).)  Now according to Mr. [redacted] (see below) at Symbol
Mattress ... "After talking with my local salesman, it is my understanding that
this store does have several out of date fabrics on their floor - he has
mentioned that to them on several occasions but they have decided against
bringing in new models with current covers." Why is that? Isn't
that  business practice/policy similar to
or a form of deception? Does that mean all of the "new models with currect covers" when sold by Siker are "special order" Mr. [redacted]? "Warranty." I was under the impression I had
purchased a set with a 20 year warranty when I paid for the mattress set. If I
had known it was a Symbol mattress set with only a 10 year warranty, I would
have purchased a different brand mattress set with a 20 year warranty from one
of the other local mattress stores. I didn’t know the mattress set I thought I
had purchased  only had a 10 year
warranty until after it was delivered! Concerning returns and the statement by you Mr. [redacted] that
"we (Siker) don't sell used furniture." Apparently Siker Furniture
never has and doesn’t accept any returns of anything in "over 80 years of
business?" Apparently Mr. [redacted], a mattress with a mattress cover
protector on it and all other furniture purchased at Siker is considered “used”
at two days to a week after it was
delivered? Mr. [redacted], wouldn't every single piece of furniture on the Siker
store showroom floor also be "used" furniture since people/customers
(try out) sit and/or lay on several pieces of showroom furniture in the store?
Therefore Mr. [redacted], you're saying in "over 80 years of business"
Siker has never sold a mattress, couch, chair or recliner directly off the
showroom floor correct? The other mattress stores have a 30, 60, 90 or 120 day guarantee
for  returns if the buyer/customer is not
satisfied with their purchase as long as
there’s no damage and a mattress cover protector  is on the mattress. Regarding "special order." First, I didn't realize
the mattress set I purchased was considered a "special order" by
Siker furniture. Especially since you had the set on the showroom floor. I'm
quite sure your supplier had the particular mattress you sold me in stock
correct? Does Siker stock anything other than the actual mattresses on the
showroom floor? How many mattresses did Siker have in "stock"
matching the floor models and not including those on the showroom floor at the
end of the year? Perhaps every mattress sold other than the actual mattresses
on the showroom floor and a handful of mattresses in the back along with most
of the floor model furniture at Siker are considered "special order"
items? Therefore, a vast majority are always non returnable no matter what the issue? You supposedly sold me a Queen size mattress set like the one on the
showroom floor. Siker Furniture doesn't
stock a Queen size mattress set of a showroom model on the store floor? Other
mattress stores and businesses often sell floor models, returns and
discontinued models usually at a discounted price? When I complained during the
delivery and two days later, why didn't Siker instead offer to sell me the floor
model (especially since it was supposedly discontinued) since it was exactly
what I wanted and thought I was purchasing except for the color of the cover?
By the way Mr. [redacted], solely “being in business for over 80
years” doesn’t exclude Siker Furniture from the occasional  poor decision, business practice, bad policy,
less than satisfactory service and/or possible wrongdoing.  Thank you to anyone involved for your time.
Regards,
[redacted]

I have read Mr. [redacted]’ response to my statement. I stand by the fact that the mattress he received was the mattress he chose, except for the updated cover. I really don’t think that he came in the store saying that he did not want a Symbol Mattress. If this was the case, we would not have sold him one. It is a simple as that. If Mr. [redacted] came in the store with specific requests such as length of warranty (out of our products, only Simmons has a 20 year) or Specific manufacturers he wanted to avoid, we would have obliged. The fact that Mr. [redacted] is saying that we do sell used furniture by mentioning that we sell floor samples is not an accurate comparison. There is a huge difference in a piece of furniture that has sat on the showroom floor compared to a customers’ home. We have no control over the customers’ home conditions (cleanliness, pets, etc.). Furniture sold off the showroom floor are sold as floor samples, NOT used furniture. I think he is being petty in these claims.I understand that being in business as long as we have does not exclude us from making mistakes, but I strongly disagree that we did anything wrong during this process. After looking at the mattresses on a previous visit, Mr. [redacted] returned to the store on a day that his original salesperson was not working and told another associate (Cindy) what mattress he wanted to purchase. It was at that point that she informed him of the cover change. He was ok with it then, and that was the mattress that was delivered to him. The fact that they changed the label when they changed the cover has nothing to do with the fact that it is the same mattress made by the same manufacturer. The mattress that he received was the one he wanted.Thank you for your time.Mat [redacted], Siker Furniture

My fiancee and I went to Sikers earlier today, as we were in need of a new recliner and my father in law had mentioned an awesome promotion that they were having (buy one select recliner and get one free - check out the promotions page on their website.)
When we went in, my mother in law who was also with, mentioned it. The sales women (not sure of her name) was incredibly rude and said that they did not have that type of promotion. Even after my fiancee showed her the promotion advertisement on their website and commercial ad, the sales person refused to acknowledge it and became even more rude.
Absolutely unacceptable behavior and very unprofessional. Not to mention the false advertisement and refusal to even discuss it at all. Instead she was rude and stated that "they were just talking about that" and stated that she would not do as advertised.

Review: This is a classic case of "bait and switch." To begin with, I have no way of knowing if the mattress set I was sold is the same (quality & structurally) as the "sales floor" model other than the word of this establishment.

After much research on the internet and at local businesses, I decided to purchase a mattress set from Siker Furniture because I wanted to "buy locally" and support a small business. I told the "salespersons" during each of my visits (three) that I wanted a "locally manufactured" mattress set. On December 7, 2014 I paid for what I thought was a Hylton House Chateau Plush mattress set because that was the mattress set on the "showroom floor." I was told "the cover of the mattress would be a different color because the company had had issues and also changed the color. I was also under the impression from my conversations with the salespeople that this mattress set (Hylton House Chateau) was a lower price Simmons or Sealy manufactured mattress set. I was told my purchase would be delivered on Dec. 13 (which it was). Addtionally, I was somewhat concerned about the generic looking very few details receipt I received on the day of purchase (12/7). But, I thought perhaps I'll receive a more detailed receipt upon delivery. (I was wrong!) Anyway, I was expecting a Sealy or Simmons manufactured Hylton House Chateau mattress set with a different color cover upon delivery. When it arrived on 12/13 I told the delivery men that this mattress set did not look like the mattress set I bought based on the "showroom floor" model with a different colored cover. I was assured it was the same mattress set. I later found out the delivered mattress set to my home was a Symbol mattress set upon looking closer. I knew before I purchased ANY mattress set that I DIDN'T want a Symbol Mattress set based on research and various opinions. Within a week I stopped back in the store to question a salesperson about the "same mattress claim," check to make sure I wasn't mistaken regarding the make/model of the floor room mattress set and also stated I wasn't happy with this transaction. Assured it was the same by the salesperson and she walked away. Within a few days later I called the store to again state I wanted to return this mattress set, I didn't believe & wasn't happy with their "same mattress claim" and/or my purchase. I was informed they could not take it back and there's nothing they can or would do to resolve this matter. This is when I was told to look at the "mattress warranty" that had been nonchalantly handed to me at the time of delivery. This is when I also found out my "new mattress set" only had a 10 year warranty. Therefore had I known this was a Symbol Mattress set with only a 10 year warranty, I wouldn't have purchased it to begin with because I know/knew it wasn't what I wanted and I could have purchased a better mattress with a 20 year warranty for the same or close to the same price from a couple other local businesses. I didn't think a return should be a problem since I've also had a mattress protector cover on this mattress since the day it was delivered. I find it unacceptable that Siker Furniture would not do anything to resolve this matter within a week to ten days of being told by the customer that there was a problem. Let alone the deceptive practice of selling and delivering different looking merchandise than was on the sales floor and then not accepting any kind of return or any willingness to provide good common sense customer service.

Thank you for your time.

By the way, I also contacted the Symbol Mattress company. This is the response I received:

Mr. [redacted]

"Thank you for your note, unfortunately we do not have any influence on how our retailer's set up their floor models and displays. We do always hope they show the models in the current fabrics, as I agree with you customers often remember what they see rather than what they felt when trying out different models.

After talking with my local salesman, it is my understanding that this store does have several out of date fabrics on their floor - he has mentioned that to them on several occasions but they have decided against bringing in new models with current covers.

I can't comment on their return policy, as that is how they choose to do business.

Thanks for contacting Symbol Mattress and expressing your concerns."

Nick [redacted]Desired Settlement: Early on I would have accepted an exchange of some kind or my paying the difference for a better mattress set from this establishment. However upon their poor customer service, "salespersons" attitude, complete unwillingness to resolve this matter and apparent overall practices/policies of this "business," I want them to accept the return & they pick up the mattress set they delivered, I receive a complete full refund of the amount I paid for the mattress set I thought I was purchasing and expected to receive. Plus perhaps a small and/or fair amount of a "fine" paid by Siker furniture to the state and/or myself for the inconvenience caused to me by Siker Furniture and hopefully discourage this deceptive business practice and poor customer service in the future.
