Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Revdex.com:
The Bakery offered a refund of $84 for a contract of $270.The Bakery, however, fraudulently misrepresented the facts in their response, all of which can be verified by phone and email records and the written agreement of the parties: 1.     The bakery alleged I did not have to accept the wedding cake and cookies.  The bakery knew my wedding was 100 miles away when we entered into the contract.  They knew, based on my pick-up date and time, that time was of the essence due to the travel involved.  The cake and cookies should have been ready as ordered.  If it had been a local wedding, they would have delivered them, and I would not have seen the unsatisfactory cake or cookies until I arrived at the reception.  I had no time to obtain another cake or cookies 24 hours from my wedding, as alleged.  If this was a reasonable option, why didn’t [redacted] offer to bake me a new cake and cookies for delivery the next day?   2.     Regarding how the bakery monogramed the cake, the contract clearly states that they would pipe or use rice paper, whichever looked better.  [redacted] advised us that piping would look like a birthday cake and recommended rice paper, but in the midst of the discussion, her decorator [redacted] said she could pipe it nicely.  [redacted] advised they would do whichever looked better and marked the contract accordingly.  In fact, when we arrived, they did neither.  The monogram was originally done in rolled fondant.  It was crooked and child-like.  We voiced our dissatisfaction, and [redacted] said she’d fix it with rice paper.  However, she used a copy of a copy of the monogram we provided (in spite of having us send it to them electronically), cut it out with ragged edges, and the edges looked terrible on the cake.  She said she could fix it with a “delicate border”, and instead, she put a crooked, uneven, thick bubble-like, lopsided border around the monogram.  At this point, we had wasted 30-plus minutes at the bakery and had to leave to prepare the reception hall and make the rehearsal time.   3.     I first emailed the bakery (of which I have a copy), the electronic version of the monogram per [redacted]’s request and a request that the 2 (not 4 as alleged) layered half sheet cakes be scored to 40 not 50 based on the numbers.  Over a week went by without a response, so I called the bakery and advised [redacted] of the same.  In the course of the conversation, she told me she marked the contract accordingly and saw the email with the electronic monogram, so I didn’t need to resend it.  Notably, our original contract (of which I have a copy) stipulates 8 dozen/96 sugar cookies (not 24 as alleged) with pink icing and white sprinkles.  There was no post-contract discussion changing the cookie order as alleged.   4.     Following the pick-up of the cake, on my drive to the wedding location, I called the bakery and asked that [redacted] return my call upon arrival.  The assistant told me she should be in shortly and would call me first thing.  Over an hour passed, and [redacted] did not return my call.  I called again and spoke to [redacted].  She heatedly told me I was an over emotional bride and she would not deal with me right now.  I sought to explain my issues with the product delivery.  In the process, I lost cell service.  I called back immediately and got a bakery assistant who told me [redacted] was in a meeting.  I explained I was just speaking with her and lost service, and I would like to finish our conversation.  The assistant took my name and number.  [redacted] immediately called me back, and as soon as I answered, with a raised voice, told me she would not deal with an overemotional bride.  I explained my disappointment with her product had nothing to do with being a bride.  She did not deliver what was ordered.  She refused to discuss it further, and agreed to talk after the wedding.  I have phone records that clearly show I made 3 calls to the bakery that day.  I was not hysterical, and I did not repeatedly call or harass anyone, as alleged.  In fact, had the conversation been recorded, one would see that [redacted] was the one to raise her voice.   5.     Contrary to [redacted]’s allegations, I did not text message the bakery.  Ever.  I can produce phone records evidencing the same.   6.     Per our phone conversation, I did contact the bakery by email while on our honeymoon discussing the terms of their breach of contract and seeking an amicable resolution.  We had a contract for a cake as pictured, cookies as described, and cakes cut as directed.  They failed to meet their contractual promises.  I am an attorney, and I am aware of their liability for the same.  I filed a Revdex.com complaint in an effort to resolve this amicably but will pursue a magistrate claim if necessary.  Notably, [redacted] sent me an email threatening to sue me for defamation if I posted a bad review.  (Obviously, her understanding of the law is flawed, as it is not defamation in PA if it is truthful.)  While I have attempted to give the bakery a good faith effort to resolve this matter, should I have to proceed with a Magistrate claim, I will further exercise my right to post reviews, factually summarizing the matter, posting a photo of the wedding cake as delivered, and quoting [redacted]’s written responses.    7.     I sought a 50% refund or $135.  After corresponding with [redacted] by email, I agreed to take $110, which includes refund for the value of the anniversary cake contracted for.  In spite of their allegation that the anniversary cake is free, clearly, it has a value which I do not wish to redeem.  I do not wish to associate my wedding anniversary with Signature Desserts.  The bakery refused the additional $25, and remains at $84.   8.     A failure to resolve this matter amicably through the Revdex.com process will indicate to me Signature Desserts’ desire to have the magistrate resolve the matter and to have me put the wedding cake photo attributed to their bakery in the public domain.   Regards, [redacted]

According to our records the $100 deposit was refunded and customer agreed to close complaint.

Review: Back in February, 2015, I booked Signature Desserts for my wedding that was scheduled for 12/12/15. When I gave them my $100 deposit, I was told it was 100% refundable if the wedding was canceled for any reason. I called them on September 24th and spoke with Linda M[redacted], the owner of the business. I told her the wedding had been canceled and asked about getting my deposit back. She informed me that they had changed their policy in June but since I booked in February, that yes I would receive my full deposit back. She stated that it could take up to 4 weeks to receive it. After 5 weeks, I called her again because I still had not received my deposit back. She was not available so I left a message that was not returned. A few days later I called and was put through to her. I told her that I had not received my deposit. She said it takes 6 weeks. I reminded her that she said it would take 4 weeks. She told me she would check on it and get back to me. As of today, 11/13/15, I still have not received my deposit and Ms. M[redacted] will not take or return my calls.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive my $100 deposit back and promptly. I believe I have waited long enough.

Review: We entered into a contract with Signature Desserts for a 2 tier decorated wedding cake, 2 sheet cakes, 8 dozen cookies, and an anniversary cake for pick-up 10/24/14. On 10/24, we arrived at the bakery to find a very poorly decorated cake. The cake was supposed to have a piped or printed rice paper monogram on the top layer. Instead, it had the letter in crooked, rolled fondant that looked like play dough. In response to my dissatisfaction, the decorated said she would fix it with a printed rice paper monogram. Instead of using the electronic copy I emailed the bakery, she made a copy of a copy of the monogram, printed it on rice paper and carelessly cut it out and put it on the cake. The ragged edges were visible, and I again shared my dissatisfaction. In response, she said she could put a "delegate" border around it to hide the edges. Instead, she comes back with it framed In a crooked, thick birthday-cake like border. At this point, I was running out of time to get to my wedding destination and decorate before my rehearsal, so I took the cake and left. In the interim, however, another bakery assistant mentioned that she scored our sheet cakes to 50. I had emailed and called The bakery asking that they be scored to 40. So, we had to ask the assistant to smooth and rescore our sheet cakes. Distressed, I failed to check our cookies, which I later learned were not as ordered. We ordered 8 dozen sugar cookies with white icing and pink sprinkles. Instead, we received cookies with pink and white sprinkles, much less fancy/professional looking than ordered. Dissatisfied with my experience, I called The bakery asking to speak with the owner [redacted] on my drive to the wedding location. I was told she was not in yet but would be shortly and would call upon arrival. [redacted] did not call. I had to call her over an hour later, at which time she told me she would not deal with me as an emotional bride now and would work with me after the wedding.I've subsequently sought a resolution with [redacted] to no avail.Desired Settlement: Inspire of Signature Desserts breaching our contract and delivering a poorly decorated wedding cake, they are only offering the following:$10 - Rice Paper Monogram$ 28 - Cookies $50 - Good Will gesture for pain and suffering$88 - total refund.[redacted] & Wedding Cake SpecialistAll I am seeking is $110 of the $280 I which also includes reimbursement for the anniversary cake certificate, which I do not intend to redeem considering my horrible experience with Signature Desserts

• We encountered Ms. [redacted] through a referral. Most likely, what attracted Ms. [redacted] to our bakery was our inexpensive pricing on wedding cake packages. While we agree that Ms. [redacted] may have been disappointed in the monogram that she wanted us to “pipe” onto her wedding cake and that the cookies she ordered “looked like they came from [redacted]” her claim that we “breached a contract” is both petty and ridiculous. [redacted] accepted our cake and cookies (she clearly had a choice, as her wedding was not until the next day, yet it was her decision to accept the cookies and cake and then serve them at her wedding, a day later. Our initial meeting with [redacted] occurred May 3, 2014 and we quoted her a price, in writing of $260, not including stand rental, delivery, cake base, fondant or flowers of $260.00. Included in the price was:8 dozen Assorted Cookies, 1 FREE Anniversary Cake top made fresh for her one year anniversary, a 2 Tiered Custom Designed Buttercream Wedding cake that served 30 guests and 4 sheet cakes pre-cut to 30 each. We received her $100 deposit and scheduled a design appointment for September. She mentioned her friend, [redacted], had purchased a wedding cake package from us and had referred [redacted]. [redacted] received a gift certificate valued at $32.00 as a thank you from us, which we gave to [redacted].On 9/27/14 [redacted] returned to our bakery to design her cake. [redacted] showed us a photograph of a cake she wanted (from someone else’s website) A two tiered cake, with pink ribbon at the base of both tiers and a very intricate designed monogram on the top tier in pink. We explained to [redacted] that the monogram could be done in icing but that it would look similar to writing “Happy Birthday to You” on a cake, or she could opt for the rice paper, which is basically a copy of the monogram scanned and printed with edible ink onto rice paper for an additional charge of $ 10. My decorator happened to be in the meeting room and mentioned that the rice paper doesn’t look too good so [redacted] opted for the icing instead. In addition to the cake, [redacted] chose to go with sheet cakes for her guests, selecting 1/2 Sheet of Strawberry & Vanilla filling and 1/2 Sheet of Strawberry & Fudge, both scored to 50 (in lieu of the 30 clearly stated in her contract). In addition she requested 8 dozen sugar cookies - 1/2 with pink sprinkles & 1/2 with white sprinkles. The balance was then paid in full and she also requested a transport box for a $10 rental fee. [redacted] telephone (we have no record of an email) approx. a week before her wedding changing the scoring on the sheet cakes from 50 to 40 and requesting that all the cookies be iced white with pink sprinkles. I marked the changes on the contract. [redacted] picked up her wedding cake, cookies and sheet cakes on early Friday, 10/24. It was the day before her scheduled wedding. I was not present when she arrived. I arrived at the bakery around 10:30 a.m. and [redacted], our head decorator, said one of our brides had picked up her wedding cake and sheet cakes and cookies and was extremely unhappy. [redacted] explained that the sheet cakes had mistakenly scored to 50 instead of 40, which was easily fixed within 10 minutes by simply re-icing the cakes and re-scoring them to the 40. The cookies - all 24 of them - had been freshly baked, but were not iced pink, as requested, but instead they were coated in pink and white sprinkles. I began working on the 12 other wedding cakes that were being readied for delivery. [redacted] had left a message for me to call her. She had taken her cake with her to a reception which was over 100 miles away, and quite frankly, there was little left to do for her at that moment. About an hour later, [redacted] telephoned me, hysterical about the fact that the monogram was horrible and that there was no icing on her cookies. I told her that we were very sorry she was unhappy and because she had taken the cake, that there was nothing more that could be done at that point. She hung up on me. I began working on my tasks at hand, about 1/2 hour later, she was on the phone again. I told my assistant to explain to [redacted] that I was busy as I had no intention of being insulted and hung up on again. She kept calling and calling our bakery that day, and finally I had to ask her to please quite calling as there was nothing that could be done to help her at this point We apologized each and every time we spoke with [redacted], we explained that it was not our intent to make her unhappy and that we would certainly make things right, once she returned from her honeymoon. During her honeymoon, she text messaged us several times with threats of a law suit for breach of contract. She wanted the entire amount refunded, because she was an attorney and new the law..We refused, based on the fact that her guests consumed the entire cake, cookies and sheet cakes. We counter-offered a refund of $10 for the Monogram, $24. for the botched cookies and $50 for good measure. She insisted that we pay her another $24.00 for a 6” round anniversary cake that we offer to all couples as a “free” gift. So her disputed amount is $24.00 as we have offered her an $84. refund which she refused.
