Review: My wife's mother passed away on 6/10/2014 in Ventura so we flew down on 6/14/2014. Hotel availability in Ventura was limited due to it being Johnny Cash weekend. The Shores Inn had availability and their website presented nice looking rooms that had been modernized. We booked a king bed room and paid three nights in advance. Upon arrival the bed in our room was a queen, the room wasn't clean, the mini-fridge was dirty and gave off a pungent smell, the TV in the room was very old and not the modern flat screens that they advertised, the room had no air conditioning, the motel itself was in a very seedy part of town, the locks on the doors were outdated using an actual key that could be copied rather than electronic entrance and the room itself had a musty, dirty smell to it. We decided not to stay there as this room was well below our standards and was not what was advertised per their web site. We went and turned in our key to the guy at the desk and informed him that we would not be staying and listed out why. His reaction was a simple shrug and an OK, and he then resumed reading. When I asked about a refund of the money we paid he stated that The Shores Inn does not provide refunds and that we were out the entire three days we paid for even though we would not be staying there a single night. I could understand paying for one night, but all three? When I attempted to discuss this with the front desk guy he became rude and belligerent and said that their policy was to flat out not give refunds, at which point he walked into the back and ignored any further attempts of mine to talk. Not only did this establishment misrepresent themselves in every way possible their treatment of customers was abhorrent, especially seeing as how we were there for a major death in the family. I will do everything I can to steer people away from staying at this establishment and plan on contesting the charge with my credit card company. Businesses like this one are a disgrace.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund of at least two of the three nights we prepaid for. We can understand being charged for one night but all three is completely unreasonable.
