I took pairs of shoes: Merrill slides needed soles re-glued, Keen slip-ons needed the strap over the top of my foot cut down, re-sewn to the elasticHe cut the strap from its elastic, then marked where to cut and reattach the strapHe gave me a price for each job-$for gluing the soles and $for tightening the strapHe wrote out my ticket, told me the total was $I questioned him about the difference and he said the Merrill's were $ It was Wednesday He said they would be ready Tuesday and asked for the payment They were not ready Tuesday; it would be WednesdayNot ready Wednesday-Friday, for sure The Keen shoes were not fixed at allThe straps were reattached the same way I took them inThe marks showing where to cut were still on the strapThe Merrill's still have a strong glue smell He shrugged his shoulders when I told him they were no different
I sent a really nice purse in via a friend to have the zipper replaced. Weeks later, it was returned, minus the zipper pull and I was told he couldn't do it. I sent it back in to ask him to replace the zipper pull as he had found it, so I could send it elsewhere or try a home repair. MONTHS later, got it back, with the zipper pull but the zipper in worse shape than when I sent it in. Worse yet, he had "REDYED" the purse a darker brown, which he attempted to charge for, though he backed down when challenged. The purse was originally a beautiful dark tan with a gorgeous patina. Now it is stiff, rough, and a flat [redacted] brown. A purse worth paying to repair is now fit only for the trash. I am beyond angry.
I took 2 pairs of shoes: Merrill slides needed soles re-glued, Keen slip-ons needed the strap over the top of my foot cut down, re-sewn to the elastic. He cut the strap from its elastic, then marked where to cut and reattach the strap. He gave me a price for each job-$15 for gluing the soles and $25 for tightening the strap. He wrote out my ticket, told me the total was $45. I questioned him about the difference and he said the Merrill's were $20. It was Wednesday. He said they would be ready Tuesday and asked for the payment.
They were not ready Tuesday; it would be Wednesday. Not ready Wednesday-Friday, for sure.
The Keen shoes were not fixed at all. The straps were reattached the same way I took them in. The marks showing where to cut were still on the strap. The Merrill's still have a strong glue smell. He shrugged his shoulders when I told him they were no different...
