Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2016/01/19) */
MrHomeowner Signed a proposal with Gladstone's Window and Door Store on February 5th, for three Marvin Windows and one Marvin Sliding Patio DoorThe windows and door were to be Aluminum Clad Exterior and Painted White interior with new
interior trim and a fill and wrap on the exterior from the new window to the old siding
The windows and doors take about 4-weeks to be made from Marvin and shipped to Gladstone's, it then takes another weeks or so to have the door and windows shipped to the painter so he can take the windows and door apart and paint all of the surfaces with a primer and coats of paint and with drying time in betweenHe then re-assembles all of the units and ships them back to Gladstone'sAfter the windows arrived back to Gladstone's, an install date was set up around the 2nd week of April, but was changed by MrHomeowner as he was going to be out of town for some timeA new date was set for May 21st, The job was going fine until the installer noticed that the trim was painted Oak instead of PineMr.Homeowner was told of the issue and was okay with the mix up as he wanted to change the profile of the interior trim anyway, which Gladstone's agreed to do at no charge and had to special order that trim as it is a non-stock itemMrHomeowner also emailed the Sales Person of some minor issues on the paint and nail holes not being filledThe issues were noted by the Sales Person on May 22nd when he visited the job site and spoke with MrHomeowner about a plan of action to resolve those minor issuesMrHomeowner agreed and approved what needed to be done to be satisfiedThe installation was to resume on May 26th, but was rained out and had to be moved to the 27thThe installer was finishing up the exterior work, when MrHomeowner said he didn't like the aluminum wrap and was going to order and pay for some new exterior trim himself and was wondering if Gladstone's can install it for him and deduct the bill for no fill and wrapThe Sales Person agreedMrHomeowner was then told the new special order interior trim would be ready for install the 2nd week of June, but MrHomeowner said that would not work as he would be out of town until the first week of AugustAfter his trip, MrHomeowner contacted the Sales Person to let him know a final install date was set up for August 10th to finish up the interior and exterior trimThe minor issues with the paint and nail holes where completed that day as well by the pre-finisherMrsHomeowner was pleased with the results and thanked the installer and pre-finisher as MrHomeowner was not home
Mrand MrsHomeowner were then sent a bill for work completed as per the signed proposal
MrHomeowner contacted Gladstone's and said there were a few nail holes that were missed and they needed to be filledAfter a number of failed attempts to reach the Homeowners, the nail holes were finally touched up on December 6thIt was on this date that MrsHomeowner now complained about the miter joints on a few of the window sashOn December a service request was sent to Marvin Windows and Doors located in Warroad, MN to please send out their Service Technician to inspect the windows for any kind of manufacture defectDue to lead times and the holidays the date for inspection was put off until Jan3rd, The Marvin Service Technician, The Marvin Sales Representative, Gladstone's Service Technician and Gladstone's Sales Person where all there to meet MrHomeowner only to find out that he could not be there to express his concerns, but instead had MrsHomeowner handle the issueAfter looking at the miters on the window sash, the Marvin people felt that the windows fell into their manufacturing tolerances and there was no defect with the window sash and that the windows still carried the full Marvin warranty if anything should happen to the windowsThe Marvin Sales Repalso offered to replace the two window sash, but would not pay to have them painted againMrHomeowner was not happy with the result of what MrsHomeowner had told him of how the meeting went with the Marvin and Gladstone's people and rejected the Marvin offerMrHomeowner called the Sales Person later that day and asked for a discount for the windows he was not satisfied withHe was told again that Marvin Windows determined that there was no defect in the windows, but as a courtesy, would replace the window sashMrHomeowner then told the Sales Person that he might just have Marvin send him two new sash, just so he could throw them away and stick it to Marvin one more timeThe Sales Person relayed that statement to the Marvin Sales Representative who then took the courtesy sash replacement offer off the table and expressed that she is no longer willing to work with the MrHomeowner and considered this case closed
Marvin Windows and Doors have the tightest tolerances in their manufacturing of window and door products in all of the industryEven so, Marvin Windows and Doors, as a courtesy in this case, offered to replace the sash that the Homeowners felt were defective with new window sashThe Homeowners rejected that offer
Gladstone's Window and Door Store strives to provide their customers with superior products and customer service and has been doing so in the Twin Cities since Although, this job had some issues, Gladstone's did everything possible to rectify those issues with Mrand MrsHomeowner
