Review: Recently Sherman heating and air replaced the air conditioner at my house. The new unit is about twice the size of the previous unit, and is located in an interior fence which houses both the air-conditioner and our trashcan. The service tech placed the new air conditioner in the center of the interior fenced in area, making it so the trash can no longer fit inside the fence. Having called the company to ask if a service tech could come and move the unit, they said they would charge $500 to have the unit moved. The service tech never once inquired as to the desired location, though it seemed obvious that both the AC unit and the trashcan had to fit within the fenced area. Where there any confusion, I would have expected the service tech to ask about the location of the unit. Having paid well over $3000 for the install, I would expect a company with as much business in the area Sherman to be a little more attentive to the details of their work.Desired Settlement: The service tech needs to come back out and move the unit to the location where should have been placed in the first place with no additional charge to the customer.

I am rejecting this response because:

The service technician never asked for the desired location of unit to be placed. It was placed where he desired without asking for assistance from the home owner or the person overseeing the house on the day of installation. While someone was at the house to allow the technician access to the home, it was not the home owner. The home owner contacted the company on the next business day after returning home and seeing the mis-placement of the air conditioner unit.

I am rejecting this response because:

I didn't ask for a bid to replace my unit. I had a non-working unit for which I asked for someone to inspect to see if it could be repaired or if a replacement was needed. When the service tech arrived, it was clear that the trash car was stored in the same fenced area as the AC unit. Following an inspection of the unit, it was determined a replacement was necessary. At the time, it seemed unnecessary to specify where the unit was to be placed as it was obvious the trash can needed to be located in the fenced area. The new unit was not placed in the same location as the old unit as the new pad is larger than the old pad, requiring the new unit to take up more space. Instead of inquiring or asking me, the customer, if I had a preference, the service tech simply installed the unit. Not 4ft out of the way, but a simple foot and a half. However, the foot and a half makes it impossible for the trash can to fit back in its place in the fenced in area. Hence the call to have it moved. Sherman's is correct in their reply, "reason given is he can not longer get his garbage can in," however, I only want it moved 2 feet.
