I purchase 4 tickets from Shen Yun for a performance in Spokane WA. I understood that the tickets were non refundable as described. The act of being non refundable describes an event were I or someone in my party were unable to attend the scheduled event not due to the company cancellation of the event with no future availability. I contacted the company several times on the phone to explain the situation that I was moving back to Hawaii and would be unable to attend any future events held in Spokane WA. The company does not offer any events on the island of Hawaii so holding my tickets for a future event would not work. I was told each time that a manager would contact me. These contacts were made in March with no return calls by anyone in the organization. I then followed up with an email describing my situation again with no response.
Revdex.com:At this time, I have not been contacted by Shen Yun Performing Arts regarding complaint IDSincerely
I purchased tickets for the Shen Yun Chinese dance show at the Venice Performing Arts Center back in January for a performance scheduled on 3//2020 (Order_Number: ***). The tickets were non-refundable which I generally do not have a problem with. However, due to the Coronavirus global pandemic, I felt that it was irresponsible for the show not to be canceled and chose to remain home for my husband's and my safety and well-being. Several days prior to the performance I began trying to cancel my tickets, CDC, federal, state and local agencies had ALL begun urging people to remain out of public spaces and practice social distancing. I called the Venice Performing Arts Center, the Shen Yun Dance company and my credit card company with no relief. I do not believe that it should be my responsibility to absorb the $312 cost for unused tickets. I am asking for you to please intercede on my behalf to try to rectify the situation. Thank you, in advance, for your consideration.
To Whom it may concern,Recently we received several letters from you regarding some complaints (ID #: ***). We are very sorry for what have been happening due to COVID-19, which has been affecting almost everyone in the world. We fully understand their requests, however, we could not do anything on this. We are just performing company, we only provide performing products to local presenters (events organizations in each city). All marketing and ticketing work is fully in charge by them, we only get the performing fees after the completion of the performances from local presenters. As you know, many of our performances have been cancelled per local government's instructions to try to stop COVID-19, and we have lost huge income too.The correct way for them is to contact where they purchased the tickets from each local presenter, and ask them to help solve their problems. As they have purchased tickets, they should have all contact info with local presenters, they should be able to reach to them for this.As far as we know, each local presenter has different solutions regarding this problem. Most of them have been working with theaters to transfer the shows this year to a new time or even next year, by that way, tickets purchasers do not need to do any dispute / refund. And local presenters also wish tickets purchasers could consider to donate their tickets back to them if they do not want to transfer to a new schedule. We know local presenters have spent lots of money on marketing to sell the tickets, they are facing very difficult time too due to this special case. Of course, even though we know all performances tickets are 'non-refundable' when purchased, the local presenters might be able to treat different cases in different ways.We hope all of us help each other to pass this tremendous difficult time.Should you have any questions regarding us in performing production, feel free to let us know.Best,Hugh ZShen Yun Performing Arts
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
The company claims that I should "contact the local presenter" and that " all marketing and ticketing work is fully in charge by them"[sic].Prior to filing this complaint, I had contacted everyone involved and was told that Shen Yun handles the entire process themselves. I will attach the response I received from my Revdex.com complaint against the "local Presenter" the Venice Perofrming Arts Center.
Happy to help in any way I can.The first challenge I'm seeing is that there isn't a business called The Venice Performing Arts Center (VPAC). The VPAC is a building, but there is no company with that name. It is owned by the Sarasota County School Board as part of the Venice High School Campus, and many different companies perform in the space. This weekend, the space was rented for performances by Shen Yun, and Shen Yun holds all of the ticket sales money for their events. We, The Venice Institute for Performing Arts, run the box office in the VPAC for the school board but this is not one of the events that chooses not to use our box office services to sell their tickets, so we aren't able to process any refunds for these shows since we don't hold the ticket sales.I do know Shen Yun is offering vouchers for future Shen Yun events for patrons who did not feel comfortable attending this weekend.I hope that is helpful and please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns that I can help address.
Again. I thank you for your help in this matter.
In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely
I purchase tickets for the Shen Yun performance order #***; total cost was $522.00. The performance was cancelled due to the covid19 virus and the company has not issued refunds. All I keep getting is wait for an email and still nothing.
